Free speech generally means the Government can't block you. But these forums belong to Groundspeak, and they have the right to censor posts as they see fit. Early users will remember a time when mentioning 'Dave Ulmer' in a post could result in the complete post being deleted. One could ask why they don't push some cabbage towards the developer of the rogue app and make it the official one. I guess maybe they've invested too much into their own already. Either way, I am looking forward to the official app and hope it will be as good as the official iPhone one.

Greasemonkey script updates
donbadabon replied to Bear and Ragged's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Excellent. Thanks for making these updates! -
I wonder if they haven't updated all the wording yet. When I go to the guidelines EarthCaches it states: Logging an EarthCache find requires compliance with the requirements stated by the owner and the EarthCache website, including answering the required questions by email to the owner, providing original photos if so requested, etc.

Or the coin was created before GC allowed tracking of personal coins. My two personal coins are numbered, but not trackable, for that exact reason.

I had to cancel the download and do it again. But it finally came through.

Geotagging and the Orgeon 550

Most decent image viewers have a way to look at the embedded data. I use Irfanview, with the plugins. It is free, and gives you all the information embedded in the file. -

Those 2000 mAH's worked much better than I expected. I've been using 2900 mAH in my Colorado, and they last about 2 days. The 2000 mAH's that came with the 550T lasted all day, and even took about 20 photos. And it is still about 75% of the bars.

Is there a way to get user notes (not user data) into the POI? I didn't see that option here, and of course when I ran it, the notes weren't copied over. TIA

Garmin Nuvi - True Paperless Geocaching
donbadabon replied to pilotsnipes's topic in GPS technology and devices
Ok, I promise I read through all 14 pages, but I didn't see these questions. Apologies in advance if I missed them. 1 - Is there a way to add my User Notes ($d_UserNote) to the output? 2 - Is there a way to use a smiley face, instead of a cache icon, to represent any found caches that I have loaded? thanks -
Unfortunately, due to the way some people have chosen to play the game (signing as a team, but members weren't there and logged online anyways), team signing is generally frowned upon. But to speed things up, you can always just write the date once, and then have everyone sign under it.

Everywhere on GC.Com, the order is Difficulty, and then Terrain. Except when creating a pocket query. There, it is listed in the order Terrain, and then Difficulty. Can the pocket query page be updated to match the rest of GC.com? It is rather confusing, since we all refer to difficulty first when referring to a cache.

Colorado 400t coordinate update problem.
donbadabon replied to RonFisk's topic in GPS technology and devices
The subject, and text of this thread seems as if you are talking about 2 different things. Are you: 1 - trying to update the coordinates on the Colorado unit itself? If so, see g-o-cashers entry. 2 - are you trying to update your cache page on gc.com to reflect more up-to-date coordinates? If so, click on "Log your visit", and as the cache owner you will see a log type of 'Update Coordinates'. -

Misty Passage - GCTAEE A very cool cache.

If you use GSAK, you can display the actual owner instead of the fake owner. Select View | Add/Delete Columns and you will see "Placed By" and "Owner Name". The "Placed By" is the fake owner, the "Owner Name" is the actual owner. Just add "Owner Name" to your view, and everything you export will have the real owner in it.

I am also unable to use any public queries, since I need to be able to get into the Route pages in order to search for a public query to use. It is almost as if my account knows I am a Premium member for everything except for Routes. This used to work, but last year it suddenly stopped working for some reason. -

While some have had browser issues, that is not the case here. The support team opened Ticket ID: YDZ-765669 last year for this, and confirmed they were able to reproduce the issue with my account, but had no resolution. All I am asking from TPTB is that this be resolved. -

donbadabon replied to donbadabon's topic in Website
Yeah, it works for some people. That is what is odd. When I try to go to: http://www.geocaching.com/my/userroutes.aspx I get this screen: http://www.geocaching.com/error/general.aspx So I can't even get into the first screen. GC Support e-mailed me last June and said they were able to reproduce this error in my account, but it is in a "long list of issues for the development team to resolve". I figured 9 months is starting to become a little unreasonable. -
Ticket ID: YDZ-765669 This has been happening for many months now (9 months now), an error message appearing when I click on the link. I first reported it back in June 2007, and have not been able to access this option since then. I was told it was 'low priority', and is 'on hold'. Which I assume means no one is working on it. As a premium member, this is a feature I expect to be able to use. And is a feature I am paying for.

Screenshot with a Digital Camera?

I've found that using the Macro feature, as well as a slight angle on the unit, works well.
