well keep me posted in any case - once you have an plan of action I could recommend a cache - or three!
-
See - that's part of the 'game' - You can chose to chase numbers and try to find multiple caches in a day, and chose to drive on roads you don't know and do u-turns and get caught behind tractors and end up miles from home... - Or you can pick a well-designed multi that takes all day and brings you back to your car after a six hour hike? Again, it's subjective. But I always leave the multi's till last too!

Cheers lads - there should be one in Dublin over the summer (July?). We'll keep you posted
-
any chance of heading west or will you be staying in the Dublin area only?
-
I like to take my time though - I don't really see it as a race... I've been known to go for a hard cache and end up rambling without focusing on the next cache. That's the great thing - if a cache brings you to a great spot then the place probably means a lot to the owner. And why not spend some time exploring a location instead of racing off? I agree with the post from OzGuff - each to their own. "We're all individuals" "Ah, I'm not" "Shhh"

That group is my own and can be found under http://www.egroups.com/geocaching_ireland Thanks for the kind words Nascat. see you soon

I'm Craigsbar's next door neighbour and together we run the Irish geocachers e-group on http://www.egroups.com/geocaching_ireland. Drop in if you want to share the resource.

Just to let you know that Donnacha and I have set an event cache in Killarney, Co. Kerry for the 22nd May. It involves climbing Ireland's highest mountain (Carrauntohill - 1039m) and finding a few nearby caches and drinking emporiums. I know it's a long shot but if anyone is in the area let us know.

Hi all, Being one of the more prominent Irish cachers and owning the geocaching_ireland egroup (http://www.egroups.com/geocaching_ireland) I get a lot of e-mails from people visiting Ireland looking for help and advice for their holiday and planned caching activities. Having patiently answered all mails (mainly from US cachers) I was wondering if anybody else is coming to Ireland over the summer - as all the information I put together may be of use to future visitors. So -stick up a post or mail me through geocaching.com if you have any questions on this funny little island of ours...

I go about it with my own methodology - I print off all the cache pages, then mark the approximate locations on the OS map, and then figure out how difficult they are going to be. I like to start with a mountain cache, and then do a few others before finishing with a 'get out of the car and there it is' cache on the way home. And then head for my reward pint!

I can only sing the praises of Lactodorum. A gentleman and a scholar. Friendly and obliging, with a very subtle way of getting his point across!
-
I agree - I wasn't happy to see a major car corporation sponsoring what is an environment-conscious activity
-
hey monkeybrad - you were busy in Ireland too when you were over! Every cache I get to has one of your calling cards in it any plans on coming back?
-
It happened me once too... no trace. i think some people read the cache note and think that the cache 'is' the treasure. I looked for the vanished cache in a 100yd radius but no luck. I guess the secret is to hide it really well.

I've stopped exchanging items. I sometimes have an item of relative value in the car incase I find something interesting - but most of the time I don't bother anymore. I don't really know why I stopped - but I found that having my car full of McDonalds toys was getting on my nerves...

BTW- Team Saxophone- I am not "ranting" in the forums- I am simply making an enquiry in a public e.g. Geocaching-related environment. Cheers. -

I would like to hear it from the person who approved it. I'm just curious. -
Gentlemen- if a cacher from Indiana is allowed to place a cache in Limerick, Ireland, what is one to make of your ban on holiday caches??? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=110102

I was in New York last month, standing at the South East corner of Central Park after emerging from the Subway. I turned on the GPS and waited, and waited, and waited more than 15 minutes for a lock (high buildings and a 3500 mile trip contributing factors). During this time I was accosted by two of New York's finest who duly enquired as to what I was at. (The bright yellow Garmin being a dead giveaway for potential terrorist activity). I explained that it was my first time in NY and that I was using the GPS to mark the Subway station so I could find my way back should I get lost. As I did not look too suspicious and spoke with an Irish accent (the Cops were called Murphy and O'Donnell) I was soon on my way. Now, had I tried to explain Geocaching I would probably still be there... Cop#1: "So, is there money involved?" Klaus23: "Let's start again..." Same point as above really- your answer will vary according to the person who asked.

Something tells me Donnacha is a Counting Crows fan...

I just checked- they/him/her own TWO caches. One in Bristol, and one in St. Tropez. Maintainance shouldn't be that hard. Hmm.
