  1. There ya go -- & that's the spirit!! And it's the game you're helping, not necessarily someone who won't take care of their responsibility. (For whatever reasons) ~* ~*
  2. What do you mean? You don't reference the other thread you mention. Doesn't really matter - I'm sure you've seen it countless times. It's the old "one climbs the tree & signs for all in the party", or "2 find the cache & sign the log for the 3 others sittin' back in the car a mile away" bit. ~*
  3. Y-y-y-y-y-up! & I think it says a good bit about the 'official' stance on the "how people have fun" argument. I've asked that they include a clarification on "signed by whom?". It'll be interesting to see where this one takes us. ~*
  4. Oh, and while on the subject, (and since it's being discussed in another thread right now, & has been the point of many other arguments): "Geocaches can be logged online as Found once the physical log has been signed." Signed by whom? Asked with all due respect - just one man's opinion but there's so much 'gray area' here I think it's way past time Groundspeak issued or clarified the guidelines in this regard. Some 'black & white', please? Thank you. ~*
  5. This is simply mind boggling. I just placed one, my very first, with ALR's on (& named) "April Fool!!!" It is - or WAS - simply a Liar's Cache....set to induce fun & from what I heard, is the only one in this end of the state. With no 'Grandfathering', I hope your servers can handle the load. What's the deadline for cachers having everything changed over? And if they decide not to, archiving instead? ~*
  6. Aaaah - the luvly Mrs. B, whose comments I always enjoy reading. Immensely. Yes, ma'am - it was a joke, an April Fool's prank. The 'Rickroll'd' thing. TheWhiteUrkel, in something he said in another thread, & later did, made me laff so hard I think I cracked a rib. No, I'm not quitting. Not at the moment, anyway. In the end, the song was 'Never Gonna Give You Up'. It just....you know, fit. & for some, a hearty & good-spirited "Gotcha!!" And for the information of other sour souls who like to speak for others, & put words into their mouths they did not say, this August I'll have ridden around our life-giving star 65 times. ~*
  7. Oh gosh - thanx for reminding me. I said I'd post the results (that other thread) when these came out in the spring thaw: They're the Faberware, bought from the Family Dollar, roughly half the price of equivalent L&L's. For test, they were left outside right under the eaves so rain would runoff directly onto them - the smaller one upside down so its lid's seal was fully exposed, in fact caught & held the runoff. Snowed on 3 times, several nights of freezing temps (& water expands while freezing, mind you), & rained on I don't know how many times. Contents were a couple sheets of toilet tissue & a Sweet-n-Low packet in each. On day of retrieval, contents were all bone-dry, including the sweetener which was opened & poured into my morning coffee in fine powdered form, without even a suggestion of a single lump! Sure passed my test! I've got a couple now all 'dressed up' & that'll be hittin' the field, soon. And another reminder that I personally pimp on - made rat cheer in da good ol' US of A, not China, as those blue-sealed thingys are. ~*
  8. From the phrasing of the OP ** using the term, I'm pretty sure that means seppuku:("stomach-cutting"). And since we're translating from a foreign language with a different alphabet, the alteration of a vowel isn't unusual. Seppuku: A a form of Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment. Seppuku was originally reserved only for samurai. Part of the samurai honor code, seppuku was used voluntarily by samurai to die with honor rather than fall into the hands of their enemies, as a form of capital punishment for samurai who have committed serious offenses, and for reasons that shamed them. Seppuku is performed by plunging a sword into the abdomen and moving the sword left to right in a slicing motion. and not sepulcher: 1. A burial vault. 2. A receptacle for sacred relics, especially in an altar. ** No, no, no, NO!! It's not a "light bulb." The proper term is "lamp." How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb? * 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed * 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently * 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs * 1 to move it to the Lighting section * 2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section * 7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs * 5 to flame the spell checkers * 3 to correct spelling/grammar flames * 6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid * 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp" * 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct * 19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum * 11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum * 36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty * 7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs * 4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's * 3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group * 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too" * 5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy * 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" * 13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs" * 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again. Add: * And 1 who questioned (knowing something of the poster's ability vis-a-vis spelling) if the intended word was perhaps 'sepulcher', the transitive verb meaning "To place into a sepulcher; inter", ie, a suggestion to just bury it - a valid, even if misspelled retort. Now, if there's no further of my usage & interpretation of the English language you'd like to correct, Mr sbell, shall we return to the topic? Thank you. ~*
  9. Nooo...wait.....wait!! *hand up, waving* first I gotta question. Sometimes while I'm cachin' with my cachin' knave, she's down there all on her knees & stuff....smeared liberally if not mostly covered in mud & blood & brambles & leaf detritus & stuff....& she's signin' the log, I'll let her go ahead & sign my name too. I'm standin' right there, of course but no need for me to touch that nasty thing!!!1 Is that okay? I did hand her my pen, if that helps count. ~* PS: Seppuka? Would that be, "sepulcher"? PPS: CoyoRed: "What I think you feel is the same thing I've felt. "Finders" care nothing about your cache other than the smilie they take from it." That.
  10. Well.....here it is lotsa minutes after midnite, an-n-n-n-nd..., BWAAAA-HAAAA-HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!11 \bestest apearl fewlr i've pullt in awhile \\TWU made me laff so hard (nudder thread) I physically hurt myself. \\\one moor conn ultimate linkthru inna end nobody caughted? > quit you doomtards? \\\\ \\\\\pvvnd!!!1 \\\\\\just cuz i luvz slashies ~*
  11. Well.....couple minutes til midnite, 'bout had it with this steenkin' game & some of those who play it.... & after much thought, thinking I'm about ready to give up geocaching. Completely. And this li'l video will show you all exactly why!! VIDEO LINK buhbye! ~*
  12. OH Sioneva, I can haz bakinz? My Goddess of Rivy!!1 Ha-a-a-a-ay...wait! ~*
  13. That said (x Briansnat), it should answer your OQ - not that I'm any kinda authority but I agree, ie, that's my interpretation of the 'state of the guidelines'. But every hackle on m'body went up with the 'threats' issue....and if Groundspeak doesn't wanta intercede & rid us of someone who's made physical threats either through their auspices OR outside e-mail, I'd make hard copies of the threats (provable, actual threats, not braggadocio, mind you) and see how his local law enforcement officials feel about the matter. Actually, I can't believe Groundspeak didn't take harsher action, if the complete story runs as you two have concerted it. Sheez!! ~*
  14. The Fever, eh? Find 2 pill-bottles & call me in the morning. ~Dr. What
  15. *the date looks back, shes her head "no - i have a headache"* ~*
  16. Maybe yours are different from ours - locale or sump'n? The only reasonable black bears (large OR small) I've come across are those that ran* as I approached. The others can be downright persnickity. *(the other way) ~*
  17. Here's a possible solution, but you gotta act right away!! Send 'em an anonymous PM, e-mail or sump'n, all officious-lookin' & all, advising them that to remain Groundspeak members in good standing, they MUST commit to hiding at least 10 caches in the next 2 weeks, and henceforth (like that legalese, don'cha?) will be required to hide a minimum of 4 per month in permanency. Keep in mind now, you gotta do it TODAY, & TODAY ONLY! & you can get away with it, for hopefully obvious reasons. ~*
  18. To the naked eye, with good vision, roughly 6000. Save you that one! ~*
  19. WOW!!! Is anyone else thinking about taking them up on this? I mean, I'm not a total numbers guy. I'm sure tempted! Don't do it! This is a scam originating in Nigeria. A friend of mine foolishly took the offer, and woke up MISSING A KIDNEY, and ALL her smileys were gone! Even the DNF ones! Aww that ain't nuthin'. Send 'er over to see me - I've got bucket-loads of armchair kidneys I've collected from all over the world, &'ll fix 'er right up!! ~*
  20. Peccary? ~* I beg your pardon? Peccary tracks. What'd you think I was suggesting? ~*
  21. Me too....for a while now. You might imagine what it's like for me - there's only 373 within 25 miles of my home, & 36 of those are mine! It's a fun activity & something I enjoy, but I've never caught the "fever" like some....I knew from the git-go I'd knock off most of 'em pretty quickly, & I made it a point to preserve some nearby for when I wanted to get out of the cabin for awhile. I won't even go all the way into & across town (live in the boonies) even for an FTF opp - but rather, when I've got some errand etc that'll have me nearby, I'll stop by & give it a stab. Now, before anyone goes "checking my records" & sees I've got several in surrounding towns, trying to make me a liar or sump'n, 2 things apply. One, I apply the same principles (if they can be called that) when I have occasion to travel outside my immediate area - and Two, I've met a few folks that geocache, who DO like to go on out-of-town runs & 'gang caching' is a fun thing too, so I do that now & then. But as far as 'running out of' caches in your stompin' grounds (Paddler)....something I've been thinking about is it's time to start doing some things to promote the sport in your area & thereby 'recruiting' new players who will hopefully start planting some new ones. The dearth of 'em around these parts is one reason I have no qualms about & don't bicker over 35mm cans & LPCs - hell, a find's a find far's I'm concerned. Best we've had to offer around here for the past 6 months is a new couple that's got a lot of sick relatives....& if ya don't get the conn, think 'Medicine Bottles'. It's not a 'big rush high', but they do at least feed the habit! ~*
  22. When you're spending so much time maintaining 'em, plus opening & readin' log e-mails that you have NO time to go find any yourself....THEN you might wanta consider rearranging your priorities. \then again, even that's subjective. ~*
  23. OH, those guyz are all right. It's the ones that ARE stealthy (ie ya never see 'em?) ya gotta worry about. Kinda like, the mosquitos that don't make a 'hum' (females) are the ones that bite? \errmmmmmmm......did that mulberry bush just move? ~*
