  1. I need some help. I have a Garmin e-Trex Legend, the serial cable for connecting the GPSr to the computer, a new laptop that runs Windows Vista and has ONLY usb ports (no serial ports), and a serial-to-usb adapter. My problem is that I have not yet figured out how to make the laptop communicate with/recognize the GPSr or the serial-usb adapter, and so I cannot upload or download waypoints from my GPSr. I have loaded the software that came with the serial port adapter, but Vista just won't recognize it...installed or from the cd that came with the adapter. Any suggestions?
  2. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good cache for a TB? The only TB hotel I can find requires visiting other caches to get the coordinates, and I won't be able to spend that much time caching. I need to find a cache that will be easy to find by a beginning cacher. Thanks for your help!
  3. All of my 5 kids understand that they trade for equal value, at least. I encourage them to trade up, but the 3 and 4 yr-olds barely understand the concept of "leave swag, take swag." (For what it's worth, because of the 3, 4, and 7 yr-olds, I am grateful to anyone who leaves McToys for them. It makes it easier to trade up!)
  4. I absolutely agree with and practice "trade up or don't trade" . However, I have small children, and they love McToys, so I'm always glad to see a few in a cache.
  5. I asked for a few film cannisters at a local film developer, and was given about 200. My 4 yr-old daughter was able to help stuff a plastic grocery bag into a cannister. Because of the cost to me for the supplies--virtually zero--I've dropped a few into every cache I've vistited, and have taken nothing in return.
  6. I am planning a trip to Las Vegas NV at the end of March, and I'd like to help some TBs move, but I have been unseccessful in locating a suitable cache/TB hotel or office in which to drop the bugs. Can someone provide me with suggestions> I will be staying at a hotel off the Strip, and I don't mind a little driving, but I don't want to do any hiking at all. Something close to a freeway--any freeway!--would be best. I'll be coming in from the north.
  7. Is there a TB hotel or office in or near Las Vegas? I'm headed there at the end of March, and I want to help move some TBs to Vegas, but I cannot locate a suitable TB drop-off cache. With the abundance of virtual caches on the Strip, I'm not hoping to find a cache that can hold TBs anywhere near the Strip. I'd be willing to do some drivingto get to a good cache, but don't want to hike--I want to make it easy for the tbs to get picked up and moved. I had hoped to see a cache that would have easy access to a freeway--any freeway! I appreciate any help--and I'll be checking back here daily.
  8. On my way out of town for a camping trip, I walked in to a local film developing place (Inkley's) and asked for some film canisters. The girl behind the counter was very happy to give me a shopping bag FULL of canisters--I probably ended up with over 150. My two oldest boys, ages 10 and 13, then stuffed the canisters with shopping bags we had saved and brought along specifically for that purpose. Neither of them had any trouble stuffing the bags into the canisters, surprisingly enough! It was a great way to give them something to do other than fight! Then, while camping, I placed 2 or 3 canisters in each cache we visited. No matter where you go, there you are. Buckaroo Banzai
  9. Fellow geocachers! We're planning a road trip from the Davis County area to Lincoln and Omaha NE, and back again, in 2 weeks. We'd like to take a travel bug with us on both legs. Do you know of any bugs that need to make either of these trips?
  10. Geetings! I'm a newbie taking my fmaliy out camping in Morgan County. Anyone know of a good cache or two in the Mountain Green area? How about Peterson/Stoddard? Thanks! jackdaddyt
