  1. Well this sucks. My first 400t had 3.72 of total internal memory, and with all the preloaded maps and everything my first clolorado had an extra 1.08 of free space. My new 400t only has a total of 2.78gb of internal memory and with with all the preloaded maps on it i only have 143mb of free space left. What is up with this? Am i the only one that has this little of internal memory in the 400t?
  2. PCNation.com has the 400t showing they should ship in 2 weeks and there 487.63 with free shipping
  3. Here is a link to a pic of the Vista next to the Colorado http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=183484&hl=
  4. Nope, I listed as an issue on the list but I haven't raised with Garmin. Probably worth a call because I miss it as well when finding caches. GO$Rs Funny thing. I noticed today that the Zoom Level settings for the map configuration DO go down to 20'. I wonder if the max zoom level is map specific? Can anyone with city nav or something other than the default map set on the 400t comment if you can zoom in further than 80' with that map set selected? GO$Rs I do not think zoom level is map specific. I have the 400t with city nav and you still can not zoom down to 20' regardless what map you have selected.
  5. I too will be at the Meat and Greet in the Bay Area and reporting back.
  6. The street names only show up if you are in a car moving at a good rate. If you are walking the names do not show up. This is a hand held right? If i am walking in the city i would like to know the street names around me.
  7. With the current implementation, right and left is already occupied by supporting scrolling through the text line, so that you in an easy way can reach the position where you want to enter or change a letter. That's the thing that's better with this system. So here's my idea with using the Up and Down buttons to switch between input types, while keeping left and right for changing positions. This was just a quick photoshop, so hopefully Garmin could make it better. The idea is that the input types (Upper Case, Lower Case, Symbol/Number) would vertically "rotate" around being the selected type. Also, all three types would rotate with the roller wheel so that if I go to lower case "i" and decide I want upper case "I", all I have to do is push up. That is a great idea! I am going to take your picture with me to the meat and great and show Garmin and hope they might be able to do something like it in a software update.
  8. I have used 2500 NiMH in both, great battery life in the Vista and poor battery life in the Colorado. I have updated the software on the Colorado to try and help with the poor battery life but it really did not help because when the Colorado thinks the batteries are at 50% it automatically dims the back light and makes the screen even harder to see. There is a problem with the Colorado measuring NiMH battery life, it shows one single red bar making me think it is time to change the batteries but continues to work for another 4-5 hours.
  9. Here is a side by side photo. The colorado has nice grafix and a big screen, but with the poor back lighting what's the point. The screen is hard to see, day, night, inside and outside. In the pic both have brand new batteries and the backlight is turned all the way up. I don't think a software update can fix this. And one more thing, notice the colorado not showing the street names.
  10. I know I saw a compiled list of issues posted somewhere in the Colorado threads. A Garmin techie e-mailed me today and stated that a detailed list of issues/problems/wishes would be nice. Maybe you, or someone else going to the "Meet & Greet," could present the list and discuss the finer points of the issues. I think our telephone calls and e-mails have been falling on relatively deaf ears since the majority of the techies at Garmin are not even up to speed on the Colorado. A few I've spoken with have no knowledge of even the basic functions of the unit and have not been able to offer support of any kind. Now where was that list???? I will be at the meet and greet with a list. I have tried calling Garmin support and they have been very little help. I hope that garmin at the meat and greet will have some answers. Here is the link to the list started in another thread: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgs8g624_27dj2b9php Thanks for the link. I will add that list to mine.

  12. Yes some of the street names show up if you are moving in a car. If you are going slow or just walking the names are not there. This is a hand held unit and if you try walking in the city with the unit it does not show the street names, kinda dumb if you ask me. I am happy that i bought my colorado from REI because i have just about had it with this downgrade over priced unit and plan on returning it.
  13. As it is now I do NOT think the Colorado is better than the 60csx for geocaching. Right now the only thing i like about the Colorado more than the 60csx are the Graphics. I realy hope Garmin comes out with a firmware update for the Colorado soon.
  14. I wonder if the colorado 300 will have 4gb free because there is no topo?
  15. Thanks for the heads up. Just got off the phone with REI, I am on my way to the store right not to pic one up.
  16. I think i have made up my mine on the Garmin Colorado for my fist GPS unit, but I am not sure what is the better way to go. Should I pick up the 400t with topo or the 300 without and buy the map cd's. That way i can use the map cds on my computer and for other gps units? I also plan on picking up City Nav for the Colorado. Thanks for your help and input.
  17. I am all new to this and looks like this it the unit for me. I was wondering if i pick up the 300 colorado could i put city nav and topo 2008 on one sd card and run them both at the same time? I think having the 300 and buying the maps is a better idea then having the 400t with the topo all ready there because then you can not us the tpop on your computer. Again i am new at this and hope i am making sense. thanks for your help.
