  1. Here's one of course it's a randomly chosen new one. It could get a thumbnail any time now but it's current to the topic at this time.
  2. A new cache page or one that has been edited recently will only have the tiger map until the server regenerates the page. I've had it take from a few hours to a few days to regenerate and get the better looking location map and the thumbnail.
  3. Me and Nancy are going to Just Say No.
  4. CreekFalls90 was once part of our team, but quit before he he ever got his first "actual" find. He got me into geocaching, and I stay in longer than he did. We had adopted the "Barren Run Falls" cache or are in the process of doing so, so that we can reactivate the account since the cache is closer to us than it is to him. And I hope I didn't come off making you think that I dislike micros, because I've only found one micro, so I haven't got the whole "grasp" of micros. I don't get to cache as much as I'd like since I don't drive, but I try to keep active in the forums while I'm not caching. Kit Fox, how many finds should I have before I'm allowed to use this keyboard again? I kind of find selective memory amusing. And I QUOTE CreekFalls90 Posted on: Jul 5 2005, 02:17 PM Replies: 785 Views: 15,297 Team AlphaOmega, has no signifigance rather than someone might figure out that it means the beginning and the end. Which then would represent that this team will last through anything. I'm looking for a 5/5 in my SW PA area. IF ANYONE READ THIS IN THAT AREA>>>MAKE ONE!!!! We're all about the challenge. CreekFalls90 is just my forum name, named after the waterfalls in my backyard.
  5. I have a feeling that they would never pass a "geolaw" like that because it may bare down on the better cache hiders. But, maybe the better cache hiders spend a month planning the cache placement, and extra information for the site, and properly rating everything, etc. so this law will baredown on the "mailbox" hiders that jump in their car and throw every 35mm canister they've ever owned behind every mailbox for miles. I haven't found a micro besides the "multicache" micro. But I really don't think that micros are all that bad if well placed, but my idea is that you should have the size of the cache vary on where the cache is placed. If it's in the middle of a remote area, make it a large or regular so the "needle in the haystack" effect doesn't set in, but in the city or a heavily-trafficked trail in a park may have a small, micro, or nano. All we can do, if geocaching.com doesn't step in, is for cachers to be reasonable. Hide them in a worthwhile location, and let the size be reasonable for the area. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg. Since you have started offering your self gratifying posts you have waffled more than IHOP. No micros, do this, do that, Then you post this on your own cache July 18 by CreekFalls90 (1 found) The cache is too much "in the open" for the wildlife there, might turn this into a micro for some less hassle, should be back up soon. What in the hell do you want? You should've researched a bit more?
  6. I used a 12XL (just a little beefed up from the 12) for the first year or so and found it to be a fairly decent, basic unit. One thing you'll have to keep in mind is that the distance displayed will be in 0.01 miles or 0.01 kilometers. You can't change this. Once it "zeros" you're still only within 53' of the listed co-ords, instead of the newer units that will display feet.
  7. July 3 by Cacher1 (18 found) Cacher2 and I "kinda found it" today. I think we found where it SHOULD be but wasn't. I know it was temporarily disabled but the coords were in my GPSr so we thought we would try it...nice walk anyway."
  8. Nope, the post above yours says that it has changed and Change is a good thing Yeah, caches found will change. Caches owned require manual editing. And yes, change can be good
  9. The caches that you own will still read " By SoonerKat" until you change/edit the cache page.
  10. Hmm. I wonder if they have Jeremy's permission to use the logo and the website name to rent those GPS' to park visitors. Hmm, I'm sure they can rent anything they want without permission , and if one would follow Lep's link, one would see that the logo and website name are prominently displayed there, too. I'm sure the free advertisement has permission, too. Hmm. Yeah. I'm not talking about permission to rent GPSr's. I'm talking about permission to use a trademark that is not their own. Sorry. I should have said that the first time. (Oh...wait, I did!) I know what was asked. I just thought it was an asinine question, is all.
  11. Sorry, It's in eastern West Virginia. I'm having technical difficulties posting a map, but this is one of the caches there.

  13. I'd have to agree with Lep, although I may be a bit biased. I was caching/traveling to a family reunion and found this rather large sign near the entrance to Canaan Valley State Park. There are a few caches in the park placed by the Park Rangers and by a few geocachers (with proper premission, of course). While caching in the park, I met an out of state family caching for the first time with a rental unit (I'll not mention what brand, that's another thread) having a great time battling the deer flies, and when I took the picture, a pair of Baltimore ladies visiting the park, stopped and inquired about the activity as they noticed the sign too.
  14. Oh no! Not another West Virginia cacher. Welcome. You have quite a few good caches and cachers in your area. Have fun.
  15. Thanks Lep. I just spit pop all over my monitor.
  16. No groups in the Morgantown or immediate area. There is a GeocachingWV group on yahoo that started recently.
  17. Sorry, after reviewing the post three times looking for a name or the url I somehow managed to completely miss the cache code that was given. Look right after "2002" Through me for a loop too as I'm used to seeing letters in there somewhere.
  18. I'm sorry I don't miss your point. Possibly I'm not in such a cache rich area as yourself. one two three four five A little out of order, but these are the latest five.
  19. Jimminy Cricket!!!! I Spend quite a few hours a day lurking and I STILL find time to glance at GC.COM to make sure my data is fresh I've spent a lot of time caching papered and alwas found the time to check my data. If one is too lazy to take two minutes to determine if their data is stale that's their sorry fault.
  20. i like that idea I like that idea to!!!!! Trust me, It works very well in this area.
  21. If you find the remains and remove it I think it should count as a find. You make an attempt for it and it's gone at least you've confirmed there is no litter where it once was. I'd take that over a smiley anyday, certainly more so, in light of recent events.
  22. The lack of responsibility on cache maintence is a small part of the problem around here. Not attaining State Park approval and vacation issues seem to be the predominate cause of a cache removal. A cacher's lack of maintaining their cache is not often encountered. (It happens, but like I said, not often.)
