  1. To clarify, the victim was identified and apparently had nothing to do with geocaching.
  2. Last week when a woman’s body was found in a local park by “people on a scavenger hunt” I wondered if the people were geocachers. Turns out they were. Here is the page for the cache and the horrifying final log entry. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...fe-f76df5770d47
  3. Thanks bons! I checked "warn" from the search page as you suggested and found out that everyone has a warn meter but it only shows up for the individual who has that account. 0% means no warnings.
  4. When the forums went back on line a new item appeared below my avatar. It says WARN 0% followed by 5 tan colored boxes. I'm a newbie here so maybe someone could tell me what this feature(?) is.
  5. I was in the process of familiarizing myself with a newly acquired E-Trex Legend when a very well done article on geocaching appeared in the Palm Beach Post. It was a major production with lots of color photos and interviews with local cachers. Logged on to this site and found a cache listed in a local park nearby. Took the Legend out and found it. I'm hooked and so are several of my tech oriented friends.
  6. I'm a newly minted geocacher having found my first cache about a week ago. My enthusiasm has apparently been contagious as three friends are now actively involved in the sport. Several of the uninitiated however have scowled and suggested that this could be a potentially unsafe activity. The most often heard objection is fear of booby-traps. As an old time Florida trail rat I've always been wary of mocasins and rattlers and have given gators wide berth, but booby-traps! Is this a valid concern?
