  1. Thanks leatherman, Now I noticed also that some Cache pages have pictures and other things, I would assume by what you guys have said that would be HTML.(?) ______________________________________________ Kanto
  2. Here are some Travel Bug Destinations... ______________________________________________ Kanto
  3. Well thanks for the tip, HTML does work in it, but not UBB (Why?). Though I did use UBB, and have tried HTML in other areas of this site (but didn't work), so I assumed it wouldn't work any where else on the site...and...I do know some HTML, and your example is missing a ( " ) at the end of it. Thanks Team Lawrence! ______________________________________________ Kanto

    Caching Stats?

I'd say that site you linked is a GOOD site 9 (the map thing though is GREAT)...but an AWESOME stats site would allow your choice of statistics that you are interested in...and how you would have them displayed. ______________________________________________ Kanto
  5. Some possibilities: FACT: geocaching.com allows uploading of bitmap.(I've done it) You may have uploaded a different file format than what is strictly allowed for display, which is only jpeg or jpg formats. Another thing, which I doubt in your case, is that you must log off and on again for things to take effect. Hope it helps, or at least eliminates possibilities. ______________________________________________ Kanto
  6. Does this mean you do Spoon-art, and if so, is that your signature item? ______________________________________________ Kanto
  7. What have you hidden in your caches during a kayaching trip? Were they kayak-related items? ______________________________________________ Kanto
  8. Briansnat's avatar is truly unique, because it can be "wrapped around" the entire circumference of the staff. I didn't check all the others yet for this characteristic. ______________________________________________ Kanto
  9. Does anyone have any idea for this? ______________________________________________ Kanto
  10. I think there is for most people one thing that edges out the others...even if we all like all things about it...then there are the few who like all of it equally. ______________________________________________ Kanto
  11. I must admit, I do like posting on the forums, but my favourite is finding the caches. Maybe one day there will be more than five options in the polls. ______________________________________________ Kanto
  12. What do you like best about geocaching? ______________________________________________ Kanto
  13. I noticed other users have been able to do that...is it a premium or charter-based option? I've tried to use UBB code for making links in the profile, and they do not appear as links or work as links when I view the profile (after logging out and in again)...it only shows the entire code text. Thanks for any help! ______________________________________________ Kanto

  16. I didn't intend to accuse anyone of cheating, it is just the way I see it for me. I am not about to judge other people's parameters...and I will eventually learn how to use GPS, because it could no doubt be very useful in other contexts. __________ Kanto, Anti-GPS (just kidding )
  17. Firstly I am certainly not yet aware of all the rules, let alone the subtleties...however I can only think of two potentially positive things with this cacher. 1-Geocachers enjoy finding the caches. 2-The cacher may become interested in geocaching and finding them and logging them. Another possibility is that the cacher may not have logged finds on the internet, but still goes out searches for them (for fun, or even for research). What truly negative things can come from this? (non-rhetorical) __________ Kanto [This message was edited by Kanto on July 20, 2003 at 05:29 PM.]
  18. Music is a great trade ! Though food (would be nice, I think people bring their own trail mix)is not encouraged at all in a cache. (You'll find the relevant text in the second last paragraph of the section titled: "Step 2 - Preparing your cache". Anything relatively compact and useful is always good...perhaps there ought to be, or already is a list somewhere of all the things that have been packed in caches? In the end, there may be only your imagination. ______________________________________________ Kanto NOTE: Important Travel Bug updates in my profile! 19. Hello, I've had some fortune, some skill, and some help (in the last two) in finding my first three Traditional Caches (one of those multi/traditional, and two of them at night) using clues and maps and some cleverness in devising other ways of getting to the cache...all without GPS. I have a long way to go before 470 like Web-ling, but with no GPS, it is far more satisfying, I think if I were to use GPS, I would feel like I was cheating to some degree. ______________________________________________ Kanto NOTE: See my profile for updated Travel Bug info for Ontario, Canada. Caching Stats?

Well...I wasn't going to mention this topic, due to the recent flaming...but you guys make it easier. Statistics are important, it is what is done with them that can be useful or not. Perhaps everyone has a favourite statistic that they look for...? I like: FINDS/TIME (which someone had in their profile) FINDS/(TIME)(TIME) is also interesting. I would make a poll on what is your favourite statistic, but I am staying away from polls for a while. Polls are good though, they can get you some accurate or inaccurate statistics. I would like to see statistics at geocaching.com! ...and the statistics drove them crazy... ...so they went from cache to cache... ...never to return to the numbers that be... ...and still they were followed by the... ...very things that drove them far away... Just kidding...it could happen? (By all means please finish the story...) ______________________________________________ Kanto
  22. To paraphrase (if I may) The Leprechauns... ...assumption is at the root of frustration... ______________________________________________ Kanto
  23. Yes! I have been dealing with just that 20 minutes ago...even when I chose "no avatar", the same error came. I had to re-upload the same x.jpg file for my avatar...and used a new name for it (but very same file), and the error went away. Good luck. ______________________________________________ Kanto

  25. I guess the cacher-maker must provide either a pool of letters or words that can be used in any combination, or must provide not one, but many sentences for the finders to use. Or, maybe something completely different. (..and I think of Monty Python...) __________ Kanto [This message was edited by Kanto on July 18, 2003 at 04:54 PM.]
