  1. I have for sale a Magellan eXplorist 500le. It comes with a neck strap, cables/software, and upon request, a brand new 2 gigabyte SD card (for a little extra). The unit is <4 months old, and I am selling it because I have recived a new unit for my birthday. The unit also has an extended waranty on it. This waranty will start in January '09 due to the fact that there is still time left on the manufacturers's waranty. Both waranties cover parts/labor plus any incidental damage (dropping e.t.c) to the unit. I have all the original packaging, software, and cables that came with the unit. THIS UNIT IS IN MINT CONDITION! ABSOLUTELY NO COSMETIC DAMAGE! UNIT POWERS UP, AND WORKS PERFECTLY! I am asking $150.00. 175.00 for the Unit with SD card (as the card is brand new). ALL PRICES ARE NEGOTIABLE! PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT bobcatboy56@AOL.com IF YOU ARE INTERESTED! Also Included With The Unit Are Two Sets Of Tripple "A" bateries. Pictures Upon Request.
  2. I have recently dropped the price on the magellan eXplorist I am selling. Please PM me if you are interested. All who express interest in this item (through a PM to me) will recieve the price.
  3. I am dropping the price on these units! PM me to find out the new price. The first one to commit to buying gets the unit.
  4. I am dropping the price on these units! PM me to find out the new price. The first one to commit to buying gets the unit.
  5. Also, If you would like to pay a little more, I will repair the Ique 3600 (New Battery e.t.c), and add my personal garuntee that it will work perfectly, or your money back.
  6. I am asking $200.00 for this unit because it comes with a memory card, and extra warranty. This would cover ANY damage to the unit, not just parts an labor. All my prices are negoitiable, so please PM me if you are interested.
  7. Hi, I have a Magellan eXplorist 500le. I used it for 6 months, and then I recived another unit for my birthday. I would be willing to sell it to you (w/ 1 gig SD card) for $210.00.
  8. I am thinking about buying a new GPSr. I have a magellan explorist 500le (only six months old) my reason for selling it is that I have recently attained more money, and I am able to upgrade. There are no scratches on this unit, and it comes with an additional neck strap. I have the original box, and software, as well as all cables. I can also provide a 1gig SD card with it. I am not selling this unit until I recive my other unit in the mail. Please PM me if you are interested in buying. I also have for sale a Garmin Ique 3600 with dock, and maps.
  9. Wow! I visited the site, and I'm impressed. I love their prices. A Garmin GPSMAP CSx for $183.00! This rivals my other favorite site, tigerdirect.com!
  10. Hi, I am looking to buy a (New or used) Garmin GPS I would like something (although it does not have to be) in the 60/70 family, and I do not have a color/monochrome screen preference. It does not have to be top of the line, have maps or look the best. As long as the screen is not cracked/badly damaged, and the unit works like it should, I'll buy it. Please send me an e-mail if you are selling a Garmin GPSr at bobcatboy56@AOl.com. I also do not care if it comes with accesories, but let me know if you are offering them with the unit.
  11. I am looking to sell or trade a Garmin Ique 3600 GPS Enabled Handheld. All it should need is a new battery. I bought a pair of Iques from my friend who had used them for about a year. All this unit should need is a fresh rechargable battery. There is a small smudge on the back, but otherwise no cosmetic damage. The uni works perfectly fine, it powers up, but then shuts down after 10-15mins due to the battery.
  12. I've never heard of any restrictions on a cruise ship, but I have heard about people on airplanes having trouble. Usually if you explain to the flight attendant that your GPSr only recives a signal, and does not send one, you shhould be fine, as it is not on the restricted items list that is in the seat-back pocket on most planes. When I use my GPS on a plane, I use it until I am told to put it away by a flight attendant, and then I politley tell her that it does not mess with any of the flight intstruments on the plane. Like I said before, it's a reciver, not a transmitter.
  13. I want to buy a Garmin GPSr In The 60 family (60cx e.t.c) I do not have a preference between color or monochrome screen, I also do not care what condition it's in as long as there are no cracks/scratches in the screen, and the unit powers up, and works properly. I do not have a set budget currently, but will post about that later. If you are selling one of the units in this family, please e-mail me at bobcatboy56@AOL.com. Thank You!
  14. I have seen many a creative cache container. Pine cones, light fixtures, metal rods, sticks, rocks, bolts e.t.c. So, my question is, what is the most unusual cache container you have come across?
  15. I have seen magnetic cache hiders that are camoed to look like a flip up cover that when open would expose an electrical outlet, but there is a blinkie hanging inside. It is meant to go near something outdoors like an electrical box. I think that some of you guys have had good ideas puting the GC code on it to distinguish it from other boxes. I have seen many other creative cache ideas that could be even more dangerous (fake bee nests, bolt hiders put in electrical towers, e.t.c) so all in all, I do think that it is a split responsibility between finder and hider to keep it safe. There are certain steps (like marking it with the GC code) that can help a finder distinguish it from a live box, and but finders also have to use common sense and not try to pry open every box that is there.
  16. Well, this may cause a laugh or two, but around 100.00 USD is my budget cap, so I guess around 111.00 and up is overly expensive
  17. Hi, I want to know if anyone is selling their old or new Garmin unit. I was looking for something with preferably a color screen, and maybe a high sensitivety reciver, but a high sensitivety reciver is optional. Maybe something along the lines (it does not have to be the listed units, I am open to suggestions) of a GPSMAP 60CSx or 60Cx. Please do not contact me with overly expensive units. Send me an e-mail if you are interested at bobcatboy56@AOL.com. Thank you.
  18. For 120.00 I would say go to tigerdirect.com. I bought my GPSr (A Magellan Explorist 500LE) for 120.00, plus s/h and tax. I also bought a 1yr replacement warantee from them just in case. My entire order came out to be about 140.00, so I would definetly take a look at tigerdirect.com.
  19. Ha-Ha those are some pretty funny stories. I haven't been caching for all that long, but I do have a pretty good story. I placed my first cache, "Tennis Anyone (My First Cache)" near the tennis courts where my high school, team practices. One day while at practice, our head coach was talking to us, when he leaned back against the wall next to the courts, and as luck would have it, stuck his hand right into the hole where the cache was. He pulled it out with a puzzled look, and I had to explain the concept of caching to the entire team. After I had finished talking, they all had odd looks on their faces (except for my good friend who is also my caching partner). The team was saying things like "Geo-what" "FTF DNF . . .WTF?", and "what in the world is a GPSr?". I just smiled and laughed. As far as field excuses go, if I think I can trust the muggle, I tell them exactly what I'm doing. If I don't think I can trust him, I make up some weird excuse which usually works.
  20. I'm a full time student, and part time dog groomer.
  21. OK, I just put the cache together, and I will hide it as soon as I can.
  22. UPDATE: I just placed the order for the TB's from Groundspeak. I have the cameras (disposable Kodak Funsavers). I have decided to place the first cache without a TB, and have the camera be stationary. Once the film from that one is used up, and if all works out with the first cache, I will place a second camera, with a TB in the cache so that the camera can travel. Keep a look-out all you tri-state area cachers, this cache, which will be called 'Cache-Cam" will be up soon, in or near Bloomfield, NJ.
  23. Once again, thank you all for your input. The cache will be hidden as soon as I get the cameras and travel bug. I should be getting the cameras and/or ordering the TB's tonight so my estimate is that it will be up mid-April.
  24. Would you be willing to sell the extras without the GPSr? I already have a 500le, and, (ironically) I need a case, power cable, and bike mount for it. Do you think that the case and mount would fit my 500le??
  25. Thank you everybody for your input. I think that I will put in 2-3 disposable cameras, and a postage paid envelope for returning them to me. Disposable cameras usually come in sealed airtight packages, so the unused cameras can stay dry while the one in use would be inside a few layers of zip-loc protection. I am going to try a cache out where the camera stays in the cache, and each finder snaps a photo, and if all works well with that, I will make another cache with a camera that travels with the finder from cache to cache. One problem I did think of though, is if the camera travels to, for example, France, and the last finder can't speak english, then I may have to print the note in many other languages, and that would be a problem, because online translators translate word for word, and do not take into account conjugation e.t.c.
