  1. I can't imagine anyone saying "no".
  2. Yep, That El Diablo staff is a dead giveaway. The rest of the "uniform" is optional. S-4-C
  3. I've ordered and used the stealth firetacks and have been pleased with them. True, they don't reflect as brightly as the standard firetacks since they are designed to be muted during the daylight hours and only repond to a light shined directly at them. However, I have found that the use of a red filter on the lens of my flashlight or headlamp really makes the stealth firetacks light up. Granted, you don't get much useable light with a red filter, but you don't really want to lose all of your night vision when hunting a night cache either. I admit that the night cache I set us isn't overly strenuous and that the trail to the cache isn't very far. However, I doubt that anyone can easily follow the trail in the hours before the daylight starts to fade. The earliest I've had people locate the cache is near dusk. Before you write off the stealth firetacks, give the red filter trick a try. I discovered it by accident, but it works like a charm. Also, you can sometimes order the factory seconds at a reduced price, which ended up saving me a good bit of cash. Good luck, S-4-C
  4. My Utah coins came today as well. My wife really likes the epoxy coating. Nice coin. S-4-C
  5. OOOOhhhh! I want one, I want one! Are these for trades only, or can they be purchased? That would be a neat one to add to my collection. S-4-C
  6. Still waiting here as well, but I understand that the delay is due to the manufacturing time. As long as they get sent I'm happy to wait. S-4-C
  7. Small world. No, I'm not Paul, but I have friends who own land in Suches near the AT. Great camping area, and sometimes you get to see aircraft flying training missions from the Ranger base, Camp Frank D. Merrill. There's quite a few hikers and a good number of caches in the area, so you may have a chore locating the person for whom you're searching. Good luck. EDIT: BTW, if you ever hike back through there, try to find a way to have breakfast at Lenny's near Hog Pen Gap. If you put the mental picture of the name of the road out of your mind, you can score a really great breakfast for a reasonable price.
  8. The site is going through some testing to spot any bugs that may not have been noticed earlier. The owner wants to try to make this site as reliable as possible before opening it up to the general population. Hopefully, everything will run smoothly. (And no, I'm not affiliated with the site. )
  9. Aaaaaaand there's SA coins in Georgia! Great packaging. Many thanks for your hard work. S-4-C
  10. Yes. That's what the PM (private message) function should be used for. Wonder if we can get this thread cleaned up. Good point. Wish I had thought about that when I posted my message. Guess I was more focused obn ensuring that the postage was taken care of and didn't think about the effect on the thread.
  11. Shipping charges for my order has been submitted via PayPal. S-4-C
  12. Ummmm... Shouldn't this be in the General or OT forum? Or if I'm misunderstanding, why is it listed in the TB forum?
  13. Joe, Here's the list (quoted below) that was posted on 5/17. I can see you listed near the bottom as wanting 1 to trade. The list you posted above was one of the first lists that was created, before you had been listed. Hope this helps, S-4-C
  14. Just got a trade from TheFabFive in the mail today and felt that I had to make a comment. They have a very sharp looking coin! I can only hope that the design for my own coin will end up looking this nice. I look forward to posting this on the wall in my office with all of the other coins I've collected. Thanks for the trade! S-4-C
  15. I used to enjoy metal detecting many, many years ago. So much has changed in the last 20+ years that much of the joy of the hobby (for me) was taken away. Regulations about where a person could hunt, the need to get signed permission from landowners just in case disputes arose over found items, the bad press received due to people leaving potholes where they dug instead of covering the holes again... Wow, this sounds a LOT like something else that I enjoy, but I just can't place it right now. Seriously, I would probably enjoy breaking out my old White and trowel to score some finds in some local parks, but my time is so limited lately that I haven't even had time to hunt a cache, let alone do some research on where a good place to do some detecting would be. I'm glad that there's still some people who enjoy the hobby, and I may take it up again sometime. Heck, if I lived in South Carolina it would probably be easier to do some detecting that it would be to hunt a cache. Best of luck on your hunts, regardless if they're for caches in ammo cans or caches in the ground. S-4-C
  16. I like the look of the obverse. Don't rush the design - the rest will come in time. I have GOT to find a way to scrounge up enough to get my own coin minted. I've got the design worked out, but just can't manage to get the capital for the coin itself. I'm glad (and jealous) that you're able to get your coin started. best of luck and I hope it all comes together soon. S-4-C
  17. Paypal funds have been sent. Thanks! - S-4-C
  18. Yes, thanks for the update. I look forward to seeing that the site has been set up and the cost per coin is calculated. Thanks for your hard work in being the US distributor! S-4-C
  19. I wonder if everyone is trying to get into the store to place their orders at the same time. I've checked the link and it should work, but I'm receiving an error when I try to link to the site. Hope we haven't overwhelmed their system! Once the link is up again I'll be happy to pay for my requested coins. Thanks, S-4-C EDIT: Link is working again, but now I have to wait for the coins to be listed in the store. Guess that's what I get for trying to jump the gun on ordering.
  20. Marshmallow Roester: The tags and wire I use come as a set. They can be found mainly in gardening and nursery stores in the gardening sections. They're designed to be marked with a ballpoint pen to permanently "engrave" the plant information for future reference. If you're looking for similar wire, I'm sure you can find 22, 24 and finer gauge brass or copper wire at any hobby store, usually in the jewelry making areas. Gridlox noted another good idea with the plastic ties. I've often seen larger plants and trees identified with these ties and they'll last a long time without causing harm. Hope this helps, S-4-C
  21. avroair: An email has been sent. Thanks, S-4-C
  22. Consider using brass or copper tags and attaching them to the trees with brass or copper wire. You can loosely tie the tag to a tree limb, leaving plenty of room for the growth of the limb, and there will be no impact on the tree itself. I have used these types of tags on a rather long multi and it's amazing how well they blend in once they begin to get weathered. It's nearly impossible to see the tags unless you're right on top of them. They're fairly easy to find and are relatively inexpensive or a bag of 10 or so. Just my $.02
  23. One of the reasons I got into geocaching was because I noticed some information about the hobby on a metal detecting forum. Seems like with the regulations being set up in certain areas that a lot of the fun is being sucked out of the metal detecting hobby. Sure, you can use them on a public beach or in many public parks, but beyond those areas things can get pretty fuzzy. It's now recommended to get *signed* permission from a landowner to conduct searches on provate property, and the wording on some of the example documents is getting to the point that you need a law degree to feel like you can understand them. Seems like a few irresponsible people have managed to adversely affect the carefree nature of the hobby. I began using metal detectors well over twenty years ago and have seen the hobby evolve over that time. The hobby is now banned in certain areas and is questioned in others. Kinda sound familiar? Be careful where you decide to pull out a detector as a cover for a cache hunt, or to help in your hunt. At the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield park you can be arrested for having a detector in your car, even if it's disassembled and in the trunk. They are very serious about not disturbing the archaeological history of the area. I can see from the length of my resonse that I've gotten on my soap box. I'll step down before I get worked up to a full rant. Don't let my comments steer you away from getting and using a detector, but be aware of any regulations that may affect how or where you can use them. S-4-C
  24. Ah. If that's the case it must be the leaf in the bottom part of the picture. No, wait, it's the OTHER leaf! Yeah. Um, wait. No. Well... er... um. Nevermind.
  25. After reading this I couldn't help hearing Jackie Gleason in his best Sheriff Buford T. Justice voice: "The **** **** Germans ain't got nuttin' to do with this..." Returning you now to the thread currently in progress...
