  1. Thanks for all your recommendations, I (un)fortunately found my etrex. I'm pleased that i can get back out there now but had 1/2 persuaded my other half that i needed a new one. Thanks for the link to the GAGB small ads - I'll keep an eye on there in future. Happy new year everyone
  2. yay!! I found it!! It was in the car, where i'd already looked!!
  3. If you print out the cache maps to a large scale you might be able to find the caches using the maps and the hint. Have you looked at your logs to see the last geocache you found? That might help you remember where you left it. How did you travel to the cache? Did you go by car? Perhaps you left your GPS in the glove compartment of your car? I had a look at the last ones I did, they were local and didn't take my bags so just had my gps. I've checked both cars and various handbags that were in use at the time but still can't find it!! Arggghhhh so annoyed wiht myself, am sure if I buy a new one it will turn up!!
  4. I've lost my yellow etrex somewhere in the house!! I haven't been geocaching much this last year but am ready to get back into it. Does anyone have any recommendations for a device as I'm now thinking of buying a new one in the sales. Thanks
  5. I haven't been out geocaching for ages, things have been a bit manic with just normal life. But, we a got a puppy a month or so ago and thought now would be the ideal time to get back into geocaching and taking him for a walk, so I found three new caches not to far that looked like a nice walk, printed them out etc. And can't find my GPS!!!! Have looked in my caching bag, everything but the GPS!! So we went for a walk but I'm annoyed as was really looking forward to getting back into it. Ho hum!!
  6. Nice... I've been thinking about the project... but haven't had a lot of free time to doodle... Things ranginf from the fish mosaic to word and initial stuff like yours... also one other variant once I figure out a new to me software... (hate changing graphics programs)... Becky will certainly have some choosing to do... I've been trying to find out just what her wants were... although the only major problem has been that I so far don't have any useful way to display stuff like this... so far... I had to do it by email... Like that change to Iphone... Not sure what he wanted either... I was going to put a bullet hole thru it as a joke!... he did say take a shot... Come to think, I have to get ertyu back online... he is still mulling final changes to his... that's more my style than 'flat' images... been very busy though. Nice to chat... sorry I'm long winded. Doug If you haven't emailed her I'll mention this post...I think they're about to travel a bit. not sure when. Hiya, I really like the one with our full name, i like the font, the background is a bit loud for me, its made me think that a camo background would be good, preferably in pink - that would make it a bit tacky but in keeping iwth the essex part of our name! Thanks for your ideas both of you. Becky
  7. Thank you, I've bookmarked loads of your caches so will spend some time over the next few days and then may drop you an email if thats ok. I like the idea of flat, that will be much easier if i end up having to carry Ella! Thanks everyone for all your help. Thanks MrsB for your help the other evening. Becky
  8. We're going to be visiting Porthcawl, South Wales, (CF36 5NG to be exact) next month for a week and will hopefully get to do some geocaching while we're there. Does anyone have any recommendations for caches while we're there? We have 3 1/2 year old so can't do very long walks but enjoy interesting places, scenery and good size caches! I'm starting to have a look myself but would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks, Becky
  9. Well, usually, something about you, or your interests. likes, etc. would help. Hi Again... thought I'd seen you on this forum... no more humorous tonguelashings from me... I agree that we would need a few hints about this family... I was going to ask, but you beat me to it... I did some of my own research, their gallery and profile etc... I don't know if you did it but the larger version of their current avatar has that neat circular fish tile mosaic... I tried working with that, but have NO idea of whether it has any significance (or copywrite for that matter)... one can work around it, but even the largest I could find was still grainy... Nice to know where they took that pic if that is interesting to them... we might find a higher res one... Also played with the names a bit... I'm a bit busy this month... Loved what you and mizdeeds did with TWJ... ideas. To the Kellys... I threw me together a temporary avatar using only my cache name... and variants on the GC colours to avoid cw infringement... ha ha. Sometimes simple is best, especially at 75x75. Is there some basic idea you have,,, if you don't know, just close your eyes and think about what you expect to see... that's basically what we all do... some better than others... Sometimes it doesn't come until you realize what you DON'T want... As for the TWJ project... I notice you guys both went for 'similar' clothes... I was thinking about the request asking for the SAME clothes... something like the pushmepullyou of Dr. Doolittle... mr/mrs Moses and two large GPS taking the place of the stone tablets, each going the other way... one large set of robes... what can I say... I'm creative for a technician, technical for a poor artist... always good for ideas, but still a bit limited in art skills, but getting better. Off topic, but did you ever find that cacher or teacher... I'll watch the TB thread for reply... Doug Hey, Sorry I didn't give you any more information, our current picture was the first picture we took at one of our first geocaches, so significant in that way. I find it hard to find anything interesting to say about me and what we get up to, we started geocaching as a way of getting out a bit more, to get some more exercise, generally we like spending time together, we like swimming, I'm a mostly stay at home mum and dh works for a newspaper printing company. I guess id like to see possible the inititals TEK or the full name in the avator but to be honest i've got know ideas thats why we've got the current picture! I hope that helps! Thank you Becky
  10. Hi there, Could some one help with an Avatar for us, I'd love something i can use for stickers and stuff to leave in caches, but i'm particularly uncreative and have no ideas at all. Please let me know if you need more information but i'm not sure what else to put! Thanks, Becky
  11. Mission 1 - Adult I received my mission, literally ages ago but had to wait until Ella had received hers to open it!! I was thrilled to receive two gorgeous coins, that I've almost bought before - a Greatest Cache and a Key to the Cache (I think) coins - they are beautiful. Included in my packages was some bath salts, candy, lollipop and wooden decorations. Thank you for my package to those in Ogden - Sofi and Holmbiorn - it was gratefully received and appreciated. Mission 2 - Child Ella answered the door to the postman on Saturday and was so excited that there was a package for her! So she sat down ripped it open - thank you for the beautiful sparkles that decorated my carpet!! Ella was pleased to receive three beautiful coins that she wants to put in treasure!! She received a First to Find coin, a Fortune Favours the Bold geocoin, 2 pathtags and a sparkly green duck coin - I'm not sure what this one is called. She also received a Christmas candy decorations, some mittens for the Christmas, a snowman and a dog candy dispenser - this was - and still is her favourite!!! We don't know who this was from but I'm going to investigate to say thank you, although this may prove difficult as Ella trashed the envelope..... I will try and post some pictures. I want to say a huge thank you for the senders of our gifts, they were truly love. Thank you also to those who received gifts from us for the lovely pictures and emails we've received. And thank you to butterfly lady for organising this mission. Hope you all have a great Christmas. Becky & Ella TheEssexKellys

Also, Thorndon park already has a fair few caches all with details to get the bonus - but i guess you already know about this. Anyway, let me know how i can help and i'll see which one is nearest. Thanks, Becky

  23. Thanks to everybody who recommended caches in Yorkshire, we've just got back from a week up there and did 14 very enjoyable caches, most of which we wouldn't have found without the input from the forum - so thank you. Becky
  24. Thank you Chris, this looks great and even MrK is interested in visiting this one! We'll definately take the steam train while we're there, I'm sure Ella will enjoy it, just want to make the most of being in the area. Thanks again, Becky
  25. We're going up to York area (YO19 6RH) for a week at the end of the month and would be interested in any recommendations for good caches. We're planning on visiting Haworth and Whitby while we're there as well. The main consideration we have is that our daughter is nearly three so will walk a reasonable distance but not to far, puzzles are great, multis with short / few stages and traditionals we enjoy. Thanks for any recommendations in advance. Becky
