  1. I must not be much either. I have under 25 finds and have had an account for years. But my job keeps me very busy and leave little time for extras. I go out and cache when I have a little time for some fun.
  2. Howdy all I am a Cleveland area cacher. Just dropping in to say hello. Unfortunately my work schedule is crazy, al lot of times I am at work from sun up to down. But I did get a couple of caches a few years ago with a Garmin yello GPS. (Still haven't found SWG though)
  3. I was at Radio Shack and saw they had GPS units on sale. Told the manager that I wasnted one I could use in the car and for geocaching. He told me he had just the thing and sold me a Magellan Maestro 3100. When it finally arrived (shipped) I tried it out. Great for the car, not worth crap for caching. Can not get a topo map or enter co-ordinates except as a street address. E-mailed Magellan and 4 days later got a reply saying no it does not have an upgrade but call this number. Called the number and the woman on the other end basically said the unit is too new to upgrade, wait a month or two for an upgrade. So don't buy it for caching.
  4. Well I never did anything with the unit, I purchased it 4 years ago from Wal mart and that was it. I used it to do geocaching finding stuff. I tried putting out 2 caches but got reports that the co-ordinates were off with them.
  5. A friend of mine is thinking of getting a Rhino 110 for himself also. We both do security work and a third friend might get one for security work. My etrex I got 20 - 30 feet accuracy until I hit the woods.
  6. I have the basic Garmin Etrex, it is accurate up to 80 feet according to the screen when I am out. unfortunatly that gives a lot of ground to cover when searching. I am wondering what would be a good step up from that for not much money. I see Wal Mart has the Rhino GPS and Radio for $142. Has anyone used them, and can they tell how good they are? Also are they compatible with other FRS radios as I might only have enough to buy one at a time.
  7. Hey all I am heading to Ottawa next weekend. I don't know the area, will be travelling up on a chartered bus for the Law Enforcement memorial. Anyone know of any good caches that will be close to downtown? I remember walking by a Castle Museum last year when there if need to know the general walking area.
  8. actually, it is "When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout." taken from 'Time Enough for Love' by Robert Heinlein — character 'lazarus long' ---------- I thought it was from the Cat Who Walks Through Walls
  9. I purchased the Yellow E-trex at Wal MArt yesterday. They were going for $119 but a few of them that had the bar code on the bottom instead of the side were priced $89. I took the bottom bar coded one :-) Found 1 cache so far with it. I will definately buy a compass for the next time I go out though, the compass is not accurate as it does not point north unless you are moving.
