  1. I bought an Etrex case at Circuit City for around $15. I've also seen them at Target. It really keeps the unit from getting banged up and still allows good access to the buttons. My unit still looks brand new thanks to that case.
  2. Caching is a family hobby for us now. We all go together or not at all. We log our finds as a team so there is no competition between us although we may let our littler memebers "find" the cache first. Having those extra eyes helps a lot. There have been times that one of us may have missed the cache if the others weren't along to help. Overall, I'd say it has improved our family relationship. My wife is unable to participate in some of the more aggressive outdoor activities that the rest of us enjoy, but we can all walk. It is a great way for us to get together as a family and enjoy the outdoors while getting some exercise too.
  3. Thanks everyone. I didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest with this question. Renegade Knight, in response to your question, there may be a way to access it from the other side, I just haven't looked yet. It's just that there was a nice parking area close to the trailhead leading to the spot. The only negative was crossing the RR track. I will determine if the spot can be accessed another way. Thanks again.
  4. Hello from Team DAD !!! We are located in Griffith, a small burg in the NW corner of our fair state. We have yet to meet any fellow cachers on our hunts, but would love to hear from you.
  5. We are relatively new to geocaching but would like to hide a cache. I found a pretty good spot but to get to it you need to cross an active railroad track to get there. I see that Geocaching.com will not approve of a cache placed within 150 feet of a RR track. The cache would be much further away from the track than that, but will the cache be denied if you have to cross the track? Thanks
