  1. If I sign it I log it. If not I don't. Course the only person you play against in this game is yourself, so what others do doesn't matter much to me.
  2. Maxx you are a fine cacher, like that you think of others and not just your own ego. Sometimes it is not the fault of the container. Sometimes FTF hounds or people trying to rack up big number do not seal the container properly. Never hurts to be kind once in a while.
  3. Some like those FTFs. I really don't care much though. But since there are those that do it might be kind to leave a couple in case someone else is working on a streak.
  4. That is the way I handle it. Don't think anyone has ever asked me to send them the log.
  5. Some folks get real excited when they start and put out a bunch of caches. Then they loose interest and stop maintaining them. Some move to new locations and can't get back to maintain them. A few run into health or personal problems. We have been lucky here. When someone can't take care of a cache they tend to adopt it out or archive it so the spot can host a new cache.
  6. Figure in things like leaf cover & buildings that interfere with your signal and decrease your accuracy. Your GPSr will never put you on top the cache so develop your geosense too. Have fun!
  7. Thanks for your input. As it goes, I don't currently own any caches, so I do have time available for maintenance (or adoption) of other caches. I think ideally I'd love to place my own caches, but my local area is already rather saturated and I don't want to place caches just for the sake of it! Could not agree with that more! You do know you can put a watch on any cache, not only your own.
  8. You can put the cache on your watch list then you would see if any NM LOGS are posted. That would be the quickest way to take care of it. Good for you for being willing to help out.
  9. Get out there & have fun! Enjoy yourself. Best advice there is.
  10. Hi Brian, hope you enjoy caching!
  11. Glad to have you with us!
  12. I would start with a note to the CO that XYZ cache needs a new log, container, whatever. Or post a needs maintenance log before going with a NA.

    Redux

I would guess an existing cache has been archived and reactivated or moved to a new location.
  14. Saw it advertised as a cheap date in a family magazine

A solution in search of a problem.
  16. It is a power thing. If I can't counter what you say, I will pick on how you say it.
  17. White river SP & the canal have several nice hides as does IUPUI. I'd suggest a picnic (pack one, don't buy her fast food) at White River SP & cache from there. You could impress her by finding trads, multis, and virtuals.
  18. Do what you want to do. If you want to send a note send one. If not don't send one, it isn't required. I send notes to newbies who find my caches & to people who move my TBs. I've made some good friends that way.
  19. Looks like you got your answer. Welcome to caching and there are nice people who cache too.
  20. The owner does not sound like the type to carry a replacement and not having cached in so long, may not have any. After being called out on it he did.
  21. You did fine. Did the CO go check on it? Bet at the very least they carried a replacement cache.
