  1. Sorry, I forgot to close this. It sold at my asking price. - John...
  2. Hmmm... In the end, I'm not sure that is going to be cheaper than any of the other geocoin places out there, is it? - John...
  3. Actually, I got it, but hadn't had time to reply yet, so I'll do it here. Unfortunately, I don't know what version of City Select it is -- because it doesn't say on the ourside of the packaging and I haven't opened it. A few people asked about how many unlock codes there are. Again, it doesn't say on the outside of the packaging, so I don't know. Maybe just the one -- or maybe there is usually more than one? To be honest, I'm more of a Magellan user -- so I don't know much about Garmin's software, sorry. As far as using it on a 60CSx, again, I really can't answer that, sorry. It doesn't say anything about using it on anything other than a laptop since it is a USB GPS device. It may or may not work with anything else -- I assume that, if City Select normally does, that it should -- but I really can't say for certain, of course. I'd be happy to answer any questions that I can -- but those that I can't without opening the package, I just can't help with, sorry. - John...
  4. I have available a Garmin GPS 18 USB Automotive Pack. It is brand-new and still sealed in the plastic box. Includes: - Garmin GPS 18 USB GPS (WAAS enabled, 6' USB cable, powered via USB connection) - Windshield suction-cup mount - nRoute Navigation software for your laptop (with voice navigation) - City Select software for detailed map data (throughout US, Canada, and Puerto Rico) - Garmin Carrying Pouch Retail is $129.99 on this. One just like it just sold on EBay for $107.50 plus $12.95 shipping ($120.45 total). Will sell for $100 including shipping via USPS Priority Mail anywhere in the continental USA. Will ship outside the continental USA for extra shipping fee. PayPal preferred, but will accept other forms of payment. Thanks! - John...
  5. Indeed -- it will come down to price. There are several great coin making places out there that will do up geocoins. But, they are doing larger runs -- where you pay for a die/stamp and then need to do 100+ coins. If your friend wanted to do smaller quantities at reasonable prices, I might be interested. I have a coin that I'd like to just do a dozen or so of, for example. If he could do them at prices close to what all the geocoin makers out there can do, but in that smaller quantity, then I think he'd see lots of interest. I just need a coin made for a non-geocaching relating thing where I want to give them to a small group of people at a one-time event... And, so far, I haven't found a cheap way to do that. - John...
  6. I have a brand-new, boxed eXplorist 300 available for $125. Has a built-in electronic compass -- which I think is great especially for beginners -- and is generally not found in a unit that cheap. - John...
  7. I have a brand-new, still sealed in the box Magellan eXplorist 300 available. Unlike the 100/200/400/500 units, this 300 includes the integrated electronic compass and barometer. WalMart sells for $150. Cheapest I can find online right now is $139 plus shipping. Will sell for $125 plus actual shipping only (no handling added on or anything). However you want it shipped. PayPal preferred, but will accept other forms of payment. Thanks! - John...
  8. Maybe he meant $35 instead of $350? Either that or he is sadly mistaken about value... - John...
  9. Yes, please provide links or other details. If you are going to come into someone's for-sale thread and ruin any chance of a sale by saying that people can buy it NEW for less than he is asking -- then you darn well better state exactly where. Otherwise, you're just ruining a thread unfairly... - John...
  10. That's a good price on a Vista. They go for $135-$150 on EBay fairly regularly. I don't need another right now, but wanted to at least mention it for those interested. $125 is quite fair for a Vista, IMO... - John...
  11. It is pretty large -- comparible to the Magellan Meridian units (which many will agree are fairly large). But, it still feels good in the hand. I actually prefer that size to, say, something as tiny as the eTrex Vista (which I had for a while, but sold off). Note that the iFinder isn't my main unit though -- so I'm not the best to ask about long-term usage... - John...
  12. I have an iFinder Hunt that I've been checking out and the electronic compass in it works quite well. I held it and my Meridian Platinum in my hands and did some turning/spinning and just standing still. Both compasses worked great. Just to note it. - John...
  13. Doh! Turns out the story was WRONG anyhow! There is now an update: "As it turns out, one member of the family had hurt their knee and wasn’t going to be able to walk out of the woods under her own power. So they skillfully read the coordinates from their GPS and gave those coordinates to the Sheriff’s Department who came to assist them." I hate bad media reporting. - John...
  14. You want to know what is sad/wrong with that situation? The fact that tax payers paid for HELICOPTER FUEL to find them. They had a phone and a GPSr with them, right? Why not just give the cops their location?? Heck, for the price of fuel, they could have went to a local store, bought any GPS, and then went in to get them. Sheesh. - John...
  15. Just to note it -- the only real problem with the eXplorist 300 is that it doesn't have PC connectivity (without doing an unofficial "hack"). So, for geocachers, we're talking quite a bit of manual waypoint entry. If you don't mind that, this is a steal. You just don't see new GPS units with electronic compasses for under $100. - John...
  16. I can't see anyone selling a 60CSx right now -- since I can't see what they'd move to. - John...
  17. You want the Units and Software Forum instead. This is the "for sale" forum... - John...
  18. Excellent -- thanks for the update. Good to know that it is still being looked at. It seemed "forgotten" for a bit -- but I know you are all busy, so no problem. I'm patient -- as long as I know things are in progress. Thanks! - John...
  19. I actually just listed four different ones here. Got little interest even at my prices that were generally well below EBay going rates. All I got was low-ball offers except for one that took my asking price, so I finally put the other three up on EBay. Sold one of them for what I was asking here -- sold the other two for significantly MORE than I was asking here. So, I think that is why we don't see too many listings here -- people just aren't buying here even at below-the-going-rate prices. - John...
  20. Heh -- maybe it was better when the search was broken! - John...
  21. I hope not. I created it for a reason -- and it still hasn't been answered yet. It basically went off over in the General forum and, when I last heard about it, the "powers that be" were still thinking over how to handle things. I never heard anything after that and it has been weeks and weeks now. This isn't resolved -- so I certainly hope that it isn't locked by an admin just because two people got a little rowdy... To be fair, I can easily see how vfrpilot's first response was taken wrong. When someone says "Welcome to OUR world", I could easily see how the other guy could take that as "high and mighty" talk and be a bit offended. That's exactly what happened. vfrpilot later said that his statement was mis-interpretted or taken wrong -- so it is good that he didn't mean it that way -- but, again, I could certainly see it being taken that way. So, I think we should just call it a "misunderstanding" and let it go... I can see where both sides were coming from -- and how both sides could get the "wrong idea." As has been discussed, the rule isn't completely clear as far as INTENT. That is why they were going to look into it. Do we really want to stop everyone from going "Hey! 60CSXes are being given away for free with each loaf of bread purchase at Kroger!"? If there is a deal, I want to hear about it. He simply took the "Welcome to OUR world" line as a bit of an attack -- or at least some "attitude" -- and I can easily see how he did that. It is often very tough to tell "attitude" via the typed word... - John...
  22. No -- 35 is still moving and will be into April. They started moving it in February and it is about a 60 day move. However, it is still operational (for the correctional/integrity WAAS data) during the move -- so you should still see it most of the time. I was simply letting people know that they can expect some odd behavior (like not finding it suddenly) that could easily be related to the move. While moving, it isn't giving any "ranging" data is all -- so it won't be used to dtermine your position and such -- but it will still give out the correctional data that we normally expect from the WAAS birds. - John...
