  1. Hmmm, i think i made 2 of them last wekeend..... its a start- but im 99.9% sure i'll never get them all
  2. If you use Firefox, there is a script out there called "GC forums fix" that will do this for you. Link to the scripts
  3. Taken from below the dam at my cache GCGZK2 I took this in October of 05, just after heavy rain nearly topped the dam. from the top of the dam looking down stream. This view usually shows the river at about 5 ft wide- Thats about all I have: Nobody posts pics to my cache pages much
  4. So, are they not keeping track of mileage on these Jeeps? I dont see any listing of miles for any of them?
  5. Not always. I went right from typing to a weeklong vacation without ever hearing why- although I suspect I know, I wasnt notifed. Thats alright tho, I've since learned a lesson.

    An Atv Cache

I'd say go for it! There is one near me that I have yet to get to, but not for lack of trying.... Had 2 flats on the same trip to the cache..... Anyway, its GCWGGE 4-Wheeler Fun (Polk Co.) Its a great opportunity to do a multi, a mystery or whatever given the fact you are designating people to use transportation, ATV. The will be prepared to travel, have the gps, etc- A single coord might not be as interesting, but I'd do it no matter what. Just be sure to keep wasps, bees, rodents etc "homes" in mind when hiding. I'll get over to the cache I referenced, I just have to get a couple new tires for the trailer....
  7. Congrats & congrats! ! ! So, this must mean I will "need" a new one come November..... Brilliant! Again, congrats (and happy Bday early)

    2006 Green Jeep

^I feel better seeing this, since I sealed the envelope 10 days ago, but have yet to mail it It'll go tomorrow....
  9. There is No limit to how many one can hide, at least not officially (Im pretty sure) 1000 and still going strong 1049 as of today They are Not all the same- whether container, or hiding style- He has a nice variety of styles of hides to keep in interesting. Except for his swampy icky place winter hides, I like them all!
  10. I've been to: Reno Chicago Fargo Minnesota...... <snip> I'm a Killer- I've been everywhere, man ....<snip> For Pete's Sake I've been everywhere, man.. Crossed the deserts bare, man... Richfield.....(MN????) Baraboo...(Wi! ) I've been everywhere ^^()'s - by Pto Team GPSaxophone - great topic! The song nailed 2 of my 3 states Id make up a map, but it would pale in comparison to most any example. From work, Ill give it a shot tho- (Thurs) T360- Thanks! I always wondered what all the words were, but never looked them up- Now, I got 'em ! And,
  11. Its become invasive in MN recently Actually, they just decided to do a news story on it. Very nasty stuff- I definately have bad reactions to it- ITs everywhere in NW Wisc near my cabin, but usually in ditches, etc- so its pretty easy to avoid.
  12. I think its just a whole lot of people with too much time on their hands, with summer being pretty slow in alot of businesses & industries. Then again, your link provides a very fine example of that!
  13. Well, I started with my favorite cache in Hudson, WI - then did a nearest search: From this list I would suggest a few: If you have the time- 1)Mallalieu Canoe (requires a canoe, 3 different diff levels/approaches- takes several hours) This ones in Willow River State Park, which requires a permit- but If you go, visit the others in the park GC Google Map of park 2) "Canoe goes there" is near the start of #1 3)Have Abutment... 4)Willow away the hours...... 5) Pooh Bears home 6) Willow way down. Closer to the freeway, a bit quicker to get to 7)Where's the Dam.........Cache #9?!?: 8)Prospect Park 9)Hello Wisconsin! 10)Sledding Hills 10)Hudson's Bridge to Minnesota on the Yellowstone Trail As for Chippewa Falls- the area recently hosted a geocaching event. These caches were hidden for the event, and are (only???)listed here, on the Bottom of the Event page *Not sure if they are also GC listed, but I think they are- In any case, Here is a list of nearest cachesfrom one right in the middle of town. Hopefully this all helps! Good luck, and Enjoy!!
  14. I hope so too- Me and some others are all doing our part, so we'll see how it goes.
  15. Good to hear its going into the wild~! Distribution has been pretty tricky around here the last 2 times around, with some anti-Jeep promo feelings along with other factors making it hard to find one. Many never made it far before dissappearing....... Remove pic for space
  16. Did you have to sign the waiver declaring you'd place it within 2 weeks of rcpt? (for the Jeepbug anyway) If not, I can suppose this ones going on a shelf? Cool nametag & pin set ! AFAIK, it'll be bleak in my area for Jeeps, so seeing this one, and Walmart are my next best hopes.
  17. And still does. State policy isn't written overnight. Lots of efforts can go into working with a state Dnr, only for them to take the above mentioned "easy way out". Now, almost simultaniuosly - that policy became irellevant. Back to square 1. I liked Virts, and did several- but it became apples to oranges- Not the same thing. rip "etc"

    Feature Request.

Ahh, but the problem is that I've tried firefox and don't like it. Whereas if GC.com did it, it would show up no matter what browser you use. Except Firefox Joking. . . . I Love the script, and use it all the time- that is - when looking for that kind of info- I browse this site using all the different browsers, and If I am looking for something specific that I know a script already handles - I just use Firefox. The forum upgrade alone makes it worth the time to adjust to FF. Microsoft's new mapping upgrade only works for me in IE, so I even use that when I need a good B&W sat shot of places in WI.- and am too lazy to do it "the old fashioned way". It'd be nice, but I already have that info - when I need it by using the script. And, dont see it feasable incorporating it withing the framework of the whole scheme of things-
  19. I can see it now- people calling others cheaters for using a generic icon, or calling it stealing, copyright infringment, etc- What, you didnt make your Own icon? LIAR, Cheater.............. People might just accuse you of ruining the game, taking away thier pride because they dont like fancy icons, and cant do them personally- so they'd never be able to have one. (but will point to other easy ways to aquire one "the easy way")and how that is lying, cheating ruining your concept) Oh no - wayyyyyyyy to much angst will be had with this... I mean c'mon - whats next? someone will definately start making thier own very detailed cool html layouts for thier pages, while others sit and bite nails....Oh the humanity! Judging by previous trends while reading these boards - well - this wont be well accepted- Although I dont see a real Big issue here. . . .
  20. Well said! I dont go fishing to compare my catches with anyone elses- but fishing isnt always just about the catch. Its about the whole experience. My life is a history of fishing memories, including catching a 5lb Largemouth bass in April of 1974 on my own little Zebco. When I ran in and showed it to my Dad, he told me 2 things:1) Great catch! 2) But, Its not fishing season yet, much less bass season so we better get him back in the water really fast. We had to put it back, and he didnt have a camera with us. (he explained I cant go grabbing my stuff and fishing without him knowing too...) Did I catch that Bass? Yes. Can I Proove it to someone who questions it?No. Me and my Dad, who is no longer with me know I Did, and that - alone - is good enough for me. Now, Heres one for the masses: If I get a lunker on, and get it on the dock, take a picture and release it its a catch, obviously. But what if I get my lunker up to the dock, and in the net. Hoist him out, but above the dock heading for shore he falls thru the bottom of the crappy net. He lands on the dock with the hook still in him. Starts floppying wildly, stabs me in the finger with its fin as I reach for him -causing me to stumble left, which gets me and the fish (still on the hook), and the net tangled in a dogs leash(with dog attached) tied to a nearby pole.(NOT my dog) Spin a circle to grab the dog, combine 2 more rods with the situation. Spin back around and kick the fish in the water. Ooops! This was an 8-10 lb Northern Pike, on 20lb test, with 50lb leader & large trebble hook, hooked perfect in the lip/jax with all 3. He was Gone in a hurry. So was the mess that was on the dock........My rod. . . . AND 2 the other rods now tangled. . . . AND the crappy busted net.......Oh, AND the dog. I got the dog, and 2 of 3 rods (but not the $Baits on them) & nearly pneumonia....... 3 Guys 1/2 awake at 530am. Cold rainy windy & 45 degrees......and IM in the water saving Hootsie..... Did I catch that fish? Well, I didnt win the prize for biggest fish that opening weekend(which required measuring & weighing) But - the guys in my group all agreed (even the ones that didnt witness this) that I had the best fishing experience that Ill never forget, None of us 3 will ever forget, and most of the people who have heard the story pass it along as a pretty good fishing story. This was the short version, it was actually far more detailed....and As far as did I catch it? Well, who defines that anyway? Me. I was fishing. *For the Big Fish trophy, NO-as defined by the rulesset by us 5(On paper) defined before any lines hit the water. Hmmm. Did I catch it? I hooked him,I Netted him (alone) had him in the net over the dock with 20 feet to shore, heading in "just in case": 3 hooks well placed, overly strong line/leaderand, situation in hamd. Oh, and that bad net. And My luck (and a very poorly placed cocker spaniel). My bad. Score: Me- lost rod, reel, hook & leader & fish- but had one of the best times of my life. Fish: Was probably caught in under 3 days by some random fisherman of My( ) lake who netted himself a nice fish, and my 3 days old smoking hot new combo, which he probably enjoyed I imagine. Hopefully he was released. Did I technically really catch this fish, as defined by (someone else's standards?) or for that matter my bass in 1974 ? I dont know. I have these 2 examples of very fond memories of my life, and really dont consider what others think of them to be important-other than they enjoy the story(which IS true) I dont keep a journal, or notch my catches on the wall or anything, or claim that to be my biggest fish ever caught. I release 99.5% of Every fish I catch. Always. My 9.6lb Wallygator on My wall is the Biggest Walleye Ive ever caught........(thats my .5%) Its my Fish stories ~vs~ the fishes Ive caught. Caching is 99.5% the same for me except for the fish on my wall.
  21. Wisconsin you say? There is a newer cache in Polk Co WI (a multi even) on what is known as the Sterling ATV Trail Polk County has 3 ATV trails, but i haven't done searchs in the other areas to see about nearby caches. Here is a list of Wisonsin ATV trails listed by County The area up near Danbury WI is all ATV trails, so there should be at least a few you could do with riding. What?
  22. Looking Good! I imagine if we all choose this template, we all will need to come up with the facts that you have(largest city, Pop rank, admitted to the union, etc) That shouldnt to very hard at all- I like it! *Ps- Is the "about this cache" paragraph is in another language? If so, can it be converted? Thanks for putting all the time & effort in to this - its going to be Great!
  23. I personally dont look for problems where none exist- or ponder what bad bad thing might be just around each and every turn. I'd go nuts if I were to do that. To me, the Angst is created by assuming the worst in every situation and of every person. I Could blow a tire on my way home, so I better just walk. Someone might run that green light I have, so I just better Stop at Every intersection, regardless of the color of the light(regardless of what it will do to traffic). I could be struck by lightening, so if there is even 1 cloud in the sky, Im staying indoors. Cachers Might be dishonest, so I better run out and check each and every log to be sure it matches my online record. Dont want records not matching And so on.
