  1. I was getting on here to start the same topic, but searched and found this one. I agree. I relied on that feature a lot. I hope it is fixed. Thanks for the solution KC7
  2. I don't usually have a lot of gear with me if I'm just out and about and decide to try to find some. What I normally do is use the pointy part of my pen top to prize it out. It's never failed.. although, one did take me a minute.
  3. I'm in the middle of deciding on this conundrum. I placed a specialty cache in a local river over a month ago thinking ahead of time that not many people would find it but surely a cacher with a boat or with a friend that has one would surely jump on it before too long. But noone has. I know there are a few people interested in the cache but don't have access to a boat. They politely asked if I'd share mine, but I told them all I wanted to wait a while and see if someone ever logged it on their own. I think I like it much more when I place a nice regular size cache that's informative and relatively easy to find. It's more important to me that the contents are good and people enjoy it.
  4. I've found a few around here. Some girls don't like to go into cemetaries for personal reasons so they're not going to want to cache in them. But I know of some good caches in historic cemetaries. I enjoy seeing the old old old head stones and seeing the war veterans. I always make it a point to stop and pay my respect whenever I see a Vet emblem on a headstone.
  5. Yeah, ha. After backing out and reading the title again I realized that you must have meant night caches. I just left the post up in case it might be helpful to someone. I'm sorry for the brain fart.
  6. Thanks for clearing this up everybody. I was unclear about the vehicle TBs.
  7. I agree. My Magellan explorist is really good most days. Cloud and heavy tree cover do mess with it of course. Some cloudy days leave me 60' from the cache just because of my GPSr. I would not jump to any conclusions unless I felt like I was absolutely certain that those coordinates are off.. in which condition I would send a message to the owner. But I'm a newb too, so maybe the pros feel a different way.
  8. I don't think I can answer the question fully, but as I'm not a premium member what I do is do a search by postal code and select all the caches on the page to download. I'm not sure what the maximum number displayed is but it can be a pretty big area around here. That may be a viable solution for you.
  9. If I understood your question correctly and you're asking how to find multis and not necessarily night caches, there are a couple ways. I'm not a Premium member so I don't do pocket queries, what I do is open the google map on geocaching.com and search the map for caches in my area. Multi-caches will be the yellow-ish double rectangle emblems. I hope that answers your question.
  10. Nice reply Ipodguy. I've never heard of a path tag and I've been around for a little while. It looks like all your questions have been reasonably answered jane. Got any more?
  11. I think there's a right and a wrong way to do it. You can contact the owner the right way and ask if they are familiar with the history of the site. If they don't know, they may appreciate a history lesson. Then again, they may not. If the irrelevant cache gets the finder to a historical location but the finder is able to look around and discover the history of the site (via plaque or marker) then maybe there's nothing wrong with the log page. There are a lot of various scenarios that could go either way. Keep an open mind.
  12. I'm not sure what happened but it's a bunch of girls. They're innocent. Try to call the troop leader and see if you can get it figured out. Just don't lose your cool.
  13. Everyone is giving very good advice. When I tell people I cache I usually get the same reaction that your wife has given. Don't be discouraged. I definately agree with the pre-finding idea, and am a little dissapointed that I'm not the first to mention it. I tried taking my niece once and she got impatient. Then I took her to my first hide and helped her find it quickly and she loved it.
  14. I agree with wimseyguy. That's what I normally do when I don't feel the cache was a great experience. I'm kind of new, but I have seen some not so fun ones already. It's probably best to just keep it friendly. But if it were my cache and someone logged it but didn't expressly say the enjoyed the cache, I would suspect that they didn't overly enjoy it. As has been said already, even the coolest caches aren't going to appeal to everyone I guess.
  15. GC1E1YV is in Oak Mountain State Park (near Birmingham AL) which is near where I live. I am doing some testing right now for a cache I believe is going to be placed in a nearby lake.
  16. Walter, if you lived around Birmingham AL it would work out great. I need a partner too. There's a new topic on this board that has some links that you need to check out.
  17. If you lived around Birmingham AL it'd work out great because I need one too. I'll have to check out the links.
  18. What is going wrong in this guy's life to make him want to go around ruining harmless fun..?
