  1. We did the four counties ring a couple years but only got one cache GCJ9MM Harecastle Hideaway which was handy to do from the boat with a bit of a walk to final site. We were pushed for time as we only had a week and really could of used two weeks to do the ring so know we probably missed out on a few cacahes nearby the canals plus any new ones hidden since then. Have an enjoyable trip.
  2. Sadly due to my rotation changes we will be unable to attend to what looks like another good event that we had been looking forward to. Hope everyone has fun.
  3. I'm scheduled to off and Mrs G is worried about what to wear so looks like we'll be there! We'll confirm a little closer to the date.
  4. Do we have a theme for this one? S
  5. Well done Brian on hitting the 500 mark! Don't forget to update your Hall of Fame page. Congratulations
  6. Congratulations to a couple milestones for some cachers up north. Pie Man - 500 and Alistair_UK - 300 Well done to both of you.
  7. Well done Sally on the 4 digit milestone! Just hope you traded something of equal value! Congratulations
  8. Well done on hitting 300 !!! Welcome to Northumberland where I see you have already been busy finding and placing caches. Hope to run into you again. Congratulations
  9. Sorry to hear the news and looks like any future caching trips will not be in that area. Quote from their website"Geocaching is an increasingly popular sport and one which the Forestry Commission in North West England,in partnership with the Geocaching Association of Great Britain (GAGB ), is keen to support. " Seems they are only keen to collect the money.
  10. I've met you at one so you know how good they are, can you blame them? Unfortunately we have another adventure planned for the day but if we were available to make it would definately be there. Hope you all have a good time.
  11. After just watching it all I can say is BRILLIANT !!! Well done and I can see a lot of newbies coming from your area.
  12. Go for it ! We have a 50 -50 chance of making it. But if we can we'll be there.
  13. I'll be there Will bring my coins along for some different ideas and for those inclined log them for the icon.
  14. Having just got back home to the UK after attending GW4 I have to agree with Snoogans statements. I did not have immediate access to a computer while others did and logged the cache I found that I am penalized for not logging it quickly enough. Fair enough to stop the pocket caches but not in the middle of it being live, letting some cachers log it while others can not log it.
  15. Greg can wear whatever he likes! I just ordered my grass skirt! I can't wait Sylvia
  16. We always put in a scratch card for FTF. Maybe someday we will have the first geocaching millionaire! Mrs g-force
  17. Well done to an outstanding achievement. Looking forward to meeting you next weekend and following in some of your footsteps over a longer period. One question, How long did it take to log them all? Congratulations
  18. Sorry about the link, here's the rules "Hi again from Germany, my fellow (crazy) caching-friends who are going for this insane record. In the past time, we have been working on the planning of the route. The plan is not finalized yet, but we have found out, that cache density in the greater Dallas area is high - though not as high as in Jacksonville, where the current record was set around last years GW3. So, we'll have a hard time setting a new record this year - but is should be possible to top the 263 caches found in 24 hours. During the planning process, we had several Skype conferences and -calls and that discussing helped us to clarify the rules for the run. First posted in the (locked) forum for the record run on 1st of Feb., we have worked the rules over - here they are: 1. ) A team (no matter how many people, no matter if local though it's going to be hard for locals to claim a record if they have found caches on the route before - or virgin to the area; the bigger the team the slower they will be . . .) 2. ) has to cache along their route, trying to find as many caches as possible in the given 24 hours time frame. The team may use only ONE vehicle at the same time as their means of transportation, although the whole team may change vehicles as often as they want. Team members can walk / drive / bike to caches. 3. ) During the run, no new members can join the team. Team members may quit the record run (e.g. feeling sick, after injuries etc.), they may join later. For a count, the cache does not have to be found / signed by 'every' Team member. One member of the team finds a cache and writes the team sig in the logbook or on the container if the logbook can't be retrieved - you have a count. The Team may even split up at some time of the run as long as they use only ONE vehicle for the whole team (e.g. in a park etc.). 4. ) All equipment is allowed (GPSRs, Laptops, GPS repeaters, all phones, PMRs, Flashlights, Tools, Pens and everything else you can think of). 5.) Only caches listed on Groundspeak's GC.COM with a physical proof of finding them count (signed logbook / canister with Team Name etc.). So it's no virtuals, no webcams etc. if they don't have a logbook. Events YES with a logbook to sign (you get the idea) and so on. 6. ) Cache run is in a 24 hour period (that does not say in one calendar day). The Team may continue caching after the 24 hours are over, but caches found after the time limit do not count for the record. 7. ) External support en route with food / drinks / medicine / repairs / peplacement of or additional equipment / batteries etc. is allowed. External physical (!) support from non-team-members to find / sign a cache is forbidden. 8. ) The route of the caches may (and should wisely) be chosen by each team and does NOT have to be the same for every team. The "normal" accepted guidelines to find / log a cache apply (human sense), e.g. a cache you have already found (logged at GC.COM) can't be found again if the cache has not been moved, you can't find a cache placed by you if it has not been moved by someone else etc. But if another Team member finds the cache, it is a count for the Team. Use common sense. Travel with caution, do not get hurt. Have as much fun as possible. I shortend the rules to make things simpler. If you have any comments or ideas for the rules, please post them here as a reply til friday, the 12th of may, because the coming weekend is the last chance to reflect rule changes in the planning of the route. CU in Dallas in only a few more days, Carsten geoPirat www.geoPirat.de Happy hunting ! " And here's the details after the run "Good morning from Dallas! I am geoPirat from Germany and am here to visit the Geowoodstock IV event and to meet with old friends from all over the US. Together with my last years teammates Huskie, IceCremMan and Cache&Keri, we held the 24 hour record with 263 caches. The record had been set last year around GW3 in Jacksonville with 2 US and 2 german cachers (details http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...topic=99629&hl= ) with 263 caches in 24 hours. Just wanted to let you know that a group of cachers (including me) has set the new 24 hour record for finding the most caches in a 24 hour period today. Details for the new record . . . The group of cachers: Ed. The AlabamaRambler Max, Nannypoppy Mike from Cache & Keri Golf from GolfNutz Roland, darth_maul_3 Tammo, Spuchtfink Michael, MZielinski Carsten, geoPirat (the first 4 cachers are US, the last 4 cachers are from Germany) Vehicle: Chevrolet 12 pass. van Units: Garmin 60C, 60CS, 60CSX and 2610 Caches found: 312 Caches with DNF: more than 40 All numbers are preliminary as I might have made counting mistakes during the run. How: with the help of the team members and local cachers, planning & planning & planning and thanks to the owners of the caches this run could be done. Thank you to all those who helped us achieving that goal, we had a great time and much fun. Where: Dallas / Fort Worth Area When: 20th of may starting at 09:10 till 21st of may at 09:10 Rules of the recrun: See postings in the TXGA forum / Geowoodstock4 (you have to be registered to be able to access the forums, I think). Excuse my typo, but I am tired and will go to bed after the 24 hour run now. Thanks again for all the help and friendly support and to the cache-hiders ! ! ! ! ! Happy hunting! P.S.: Before posting questions you may want to check the forum thread of last years record run (link above), quite many questions were answered there - of course, not all :-) Happy hunting ! "

  22. Depends on what you define as near but there are none in the immediate vicinity.
  23. Before it gets bumped for no other reason We've finalized our C2C plans and would think my chances of attending are better than Andy's current chances and would guess at about 75% of attending. It will really boil down to the last few days before the event though.
  24. Heart of Paris GCQTP6 although a multi and can be time comsuming is in the centre of the city and a good cache to start your search with. You'll see there are mostly virtuals nearby with a webcam another multi and a micro. Who is She? GC6612 gives a good view of the the tower but not close. Silver 14 (Paris) GCK1WV closest tradtional from centre Liberty's Flame GC63DB interesting site for another reason If you make it to the top of Sacre Coeur Basilique you'll get good views of the city with 1 virtual and 2 traditional caches. Enjoy your day.
