  1. I have 2 TBs in my possession. One wants to be placed in a cache by stairs, the other by music. I have not yet found any caches to meet those needs. They have been in my possession too long.
  2. I am headed over to the UK come June to walk a number of trails. I would love to get in some geocaching while over there, as I did in France & Spain on the Camino de Santiago. Fortunately on that walk I had a friend who is a master cachet and she was able to find a route of published caches. I really do not know how to find such info, thus I am posting here to see if anyone else knows where I would look. Thanks for any and all info. Hammock Hanger
  3. Funny I should come across this thread today. Just this morning I was looking at my feet and realize I have ALL of my toenails and none of them are BLACK. I thought 10 good toenails means only one thing, it is time for a hike!! I lose some of my nails easily. My shoes fit great, I even lose them if I hike in sandals, not sure why they go but they do.
  4. It is amazing how simple it all seems while packing in the living room... Yes, on the trail every ounce counts. If the item can't be used for dual purposes or is not used on a daily basis, leave it at home. Even if it is a cool item, if it's only purpose if "just in case" for get it. As for the trail... being from FL there is no real way for me to train. I just get on the trail, huff and puff for a few days and then gradually it gets easier. Each trip will get better but first days are always first days. KEEP on HIKING... Hammock Hanger
  5. When I hike in the soft sugar sand in FL, I go barefoot. I love it.
  6. Family issues and the skyrocketing airfare has caused me to postpone my Camino trip. Since I have to stay closer to home I will probably hike the GA half of the Pinhoti come NOV. HH
  7. Droo: email me. I want the deal. Sue/HH
  8. I have sent you an email!!! Hammock Hanger
  9. I am very very new to the world of geocaching and even newer to the world of collecting geocoins. I was at an event this past weekend and came across a GA Appalachian trail geo coin. I was immediately mesmerized!! While new to geocaching I am an old die-hard AT hiker. I was so excited and wanted to buy these coins when I was told they were no longer available for sale. I guess 2006 was a long time ago... Anyway if any one has any suggestions as to where I can find some of these coins for sale I would be more then willing to purchase them (for a reasonable sum.) I have no trade items as I just got started in the game. Any help or suggestions from this group would be appreciated. Also I saw what I was told is a rather new AT coin with the Springer Mt Plaque on the front and the Mt Katahdin Sign on the back. Anyone know where I can find this one??? Thanks in advance. 10. This year is the Camino de Santiago trail across Spain. September can't get here soon enough. We even have a couple of cache hunts planned. Hammock hanger
  11. I wish I had been into geocaching when I hiked thew BMT & Pinhoti Trails. Of course I could always re-hike them. So many trails, so little time.
  12. Welcome aboard "hammockhanger" from another hammock hanger! I recognize you from the whiteblaze forum and am happy to see you made it over here to GC.com! Just got back from two blissful nights of hanging 'tween the trees on a section hike through Shenandoah National Park. This is the first April/May in 8 years that I was not out on the trail for an adventure. I am currently working with the orthopedist on getting my knee in shape for my Camino de Santiago hike this fall. I have even slept out on my patio a few nights just to pretend I was on the trail. Glad you had a good time. I am enjoying my new found sport. Sue/HH
  13. I think I have it all figured out. Thanks Castleman. Seems I saw a "O" when it was a "Q". Bad eyesight. Hammock Hanger
  14. this is why when i drop an unactivated coin in a cache i always put a note that says the finder can keep it. unactivated coins are not necessarily supposed to be moved on. rsg There was a note attached that said "Please keep me Moving" Do Not Keep.
  15. Cinemaboxers and Ladybee4t: Thank you for your responses. Apparently the person who put the coin in the cache did not activate it. I have tried with the great info Cinemabox gave to find the activation code but I get a code not found reply. The number engraved on the coin was PCRO28 or PCR028, I have tried both to no avail. Regardless, I move the coin from the cache where it was found in JAX, FL to a cache in WPB, FL. So it has travelled over 350 miles on my part. I really was hoping to see where it went next but... Again, thanks for the hints. SUE/Hammock Hanger
  16. I have found a GREED coin. I am new and do not know how to register the coin so that it is being tracked. Can you help me with this process?? The coin is beautiful and I would really like to keep it, but i know the object of the game is for it to travel. I have brought it to WPB and willbe placing it in a cache there. HH
  17. I will be hiking/ walking the camino de Santiago this coming fall. Two of us are into geocaching. I was wondering if there might be caches along the route?? Also, will an American GPS system work there?? Is a golbal position system equal world wide?? Hammock Hanger
  18. There is the Cohutta Wilderness trail over in NE GA, has a nice 8+ mile hike. Nice place not over crowded. If you are willing to drive a bit north there is the Chucky Gal Trail not far from Standing Indian. I don't have my book with me but the is a book of hiking trails in N GA that has good info on many many trails that are one / two day hikes in the area. There is the Coosa Backcountry trail that starts out of Vogel State Park. Don't know your hiking abilities but some find this to be a strenous hike. The trail can loop back into Vogel SP or you can veer off and go over to Blood Mt. Could be a long one day or a nice 2 day hike. Hope you find what you are looking for. Hammock Hanger (a long distance hiker who has just been bit by the geocaching bug!!)
