  1. And Team FISUR's Geocoins Designs page, maintained until March of 2007, can now be found as an archive at this location: Geocoin Designs Lots of old-school geocoins from back in the day. Good times. FISUR

RedShoesGirl: Try: Rhode Island Geocaching. Click on the link for Geocoins and for Geo-Creations. The page is not really live any more. My last update was in 2007. When Yahoo stopped hosting the page, WebRing transferred it to its site (without my permission, but I'm glad they did). I no longer have the ability to manage the page, so it's basically historical. Hope this helps. FISUR
  3. Not all geocoins are trackable. The ones we leave usually are not trackable. So feel free to keep our nontrackable geocoins. There are no numbers on them. Keep them if you want. Hopefully this helps and doesn't add to any confusion. Team FISUR

There are 100 Team FISUR geocoins in existence. The design has a Rhode Island flavor. The geocoin is intended as our signature item. It is not trackable. We began placing them into caches on 10/19/2002. They are among the first personal geocoins out there, coming after those by Moun10Bike (Version 1), DHOBBY1, Indy Diver, and waypoint15. The Team FISUR geocoin has an interesting legal history as evidenced by this email from geocaching.com in 10/2002: "Dear Team Fisur, Just a quick note regarding your geocoin: I realize that we gave you permission to use the logo in your designated format on the 100 coins. Since that time, our trademark attorneys have informed us that we must not allow modifications of the logo in order to enforce it. Understanding that you have already printed these, and in all fairness, we will continue to allow you to use them as signature items, as planned. If you wish to print more in the future, we will require a design change for the logo usage. If you have not printed them and it is not too much trouble to change the logo, we'd really appreciate that too. Thank you and Happy Geocaching! Sincerely, Bryan" It was a lot of fun passing these out over the years. Now we're down to five left, and those are staying in our private collection. Hope this helps. Team FISUR
  5. Thanks for the whole page of Rhode Island historical geocaches. Sure I can link the page to my main page. Is this your page? Do think they would reciprocate with a link to HistoryCaching ?? Our Rhode Island Geo-History page is basically in inactive/archive status. It has not been updated since 2007. But feel to use the contents as you wish. Good luck. FISUR
  6. See Rhode Island Geo-History. Some of the caches are archived. Hope this helps. FISUR

  8. This is one of the best threads I've read in a long time. And here's a shout out to the OG's (original geocoiners)! You know who you are. Keep it real! FISUR
  9. That's fine. Glad we could help. Team FISUR
  10. Back in the day, when geocoins were fairly new, we tracked them as they were created. A lot of them were nontrackable. Photos can be found in here: Team FISUR's Geocoin Designs Page Hope this helps. Team FISUR
  11. buddy: As a general matter, feel free to trade your item for the personal swag. If the personal swag is intended for the cache owner, it should be clearly marked as such. FISUR
  12. We would like to thank everyone for their kind words about our Geocoin Designs page (which is part of our Rhode Island Geocaching site). As other more sophisticated geocoin sites developed, there was no longer a need to continue the weekly updates. But it was fun while it lasted. Back on topic, here is what we believe are the first metal personal geocoins, in an approximate order: Moun10Bike (definitely #1) waypoint15 DHOBBY1 Indy Diver Team FISUR (placed at the top of the list on our Geocoins Designs page because, well, it's our page ) Wanderingdragon GeoNap Vacman Dos Leos (homemade) SquareD22 (homemade) Conejo Cachers (is this a personal one?) Pepper GD's Geocoin (aka: The Mystery Geocoin) (could be higher on the list) blazerfan Haber Cache Tokens Any tweaking of the list order would be appreciated. Hope this helps. Team FISUR
  13. Team FISUR ranking: Around 5 We started placing Team FISUR geocoins in caches on October 19, 2002. (There were 100, and they're all gone.) Cache on, Team FISUR

  15. You raise an interesting point. How much are the expenses? And how much comes in from advertising, membership, products, etc.? I always wondered. I hope its profitable and will continue. Regardless, I'm all for the Jeep TB's, and I look forward to finding one some day. FISUR

    Microcoins

I always thought that Go West had the first micro-geocoin. That one has been around since at least November of 2004. When did Arvoair's come out? And don't forget Mr. Snazz's Micro Tokens. (I became aware of them around April of 2005.) Forever studying geocoin geo-history, FISUR I hate to be a snob, but aren't those wooden nickles/pokerchips? I think Mr. Snazz's might be wooden, but I don't think the Go West one is either a wooden nickel or pokerchip.

  21. http://www.geocities.com/team_fisur/ Just remember, his website isn't complete with all the personal coins out there. I know of several coins that are not listed there. Back in the day, the Team FISUR Geocoin Designs page had an image of practically every geocoin in existence. However, with the explosion of geocoins in the past year, it has become too time consuming for us to keep up. But if you're looking for "old school" geocoins by the O.G.'s, this is a good resource. Good luck on the hunt. FISUR
  22. This thread made me think about another "legend", the Coin Jar Cache. Has it ever been found? FISUR
  23. Great idea! That's quite a prize. Good luck with the multi. FISUR
