  1. without sounding completely ignorant does cacheberry go to the cache site or does it go off of stored data that I input? The app I saw on the iphone was real time direct to the cache site and automatically knew the persons (er phones) locale.
  2. A friend of mine at work got this awsome app for his I phone in which you tell the phone to find nearby caches and it does so wherever you may be. Does anyone know if they make an app like that for the blackberry touch or any other verizon based smart phone?
  3. As far as other collections..... I collect dust. I have wanted to get dust from "The New Yankee Workshop", "This Old House" and The White House but, I haven't made that far yet. Started out as a joke and kinda kept on from there.
  4. We actually leave a sig item which is a "Barrel of Monkeys" piece with a heart on one side and TML on the other. I had no idea others collected them until we got a P.M. saying that they loved it and took as part of their collection. In response a sig item in good taste is cool with me. The more original the better.
  5. I too like to see the scenic stuff but, most are taken. My favorite though are a really clever evil cache. I had a really nice 3/4" bolt hollowed out and painted to look rusty. It got some good reviews after it was finally found. I have had to put it on standby because someone felt they needed it more than I. I have a really nasty one that I plan on hiding this spring that should really torque some of the ol' trad cachers off.
  6. In my area I have my notifications set to 15 miles and on average get between 5 and 15 new a week. We have a local cacher that gets around alot and palces caches all over. Its great to have fresh caches all the time but, difficult to find good areas to place a hide.
  7. *quote* To the OP, any special reason you're looking at the 60CSx or would you entertain other options?? There are a few models which would be comparable in price to the 60CSx, but would give you more features!! One, the PN-40 I use...NICE! Another, the Garmin Colorado (should be fairly close in price to the 60CSx and PN-40). *unquote* I do appreciate your help. I have thought of looking at other units but, I am such a creature of habit I'm more comfy sticking to something rudimentally comparable in functionality to my current unit. Thanx to all for your help
  8. I currently have a Garmin legend cx. I have been Eyeballing a new 60csx has anyone made a similar upgrade? and if so were the differences worth the cost. What might I look forward too other than the compass? My legend seems to wander a bit when it gets overcast (even slightly) any help would be appreciated
  9. So you retrieved your ammo cans and your not caching anymore...... Right? I could use some here. I LOVE TO CACHE!!! the good the bad or the ugly.
  10. as the others said use the support... I had mine changed 3 weeks in and the cool thing is your new name will revert on the caches you've found.
  11. Thanx to all that have left posts... Now that there have been some finds all seems to be well. I'm guessing it was a teritorial /rookie issue that had them all fired up. I have now been recieved and one has vowed revenge to my hide.
  12. To answer a few new questions... I did return to make sure that the coords are right at which time I saw that a seeker had knocked some debris over the cache itself so I re-exposed it. I have been a lurker on the forums here for a while and most times forget that 99% of the people on here aren't from my area. I thought that my cache was more common I guess not around my area. That and I looked for the perfect area for a month before placing it. It looks as though it could belong there. Alright if you're a So. Indiana local spoiler soon. It is a (tlob ytsur wolloh) {read backwards} placed near some old farm implements that haven't moved in the last five years. So I guess it blended too well. So love me or hate me this is just the beggining of the evil genius hides that I have planned. Some will even be large cans for the micro haters. Lastly to the question of who are we hiding from. I place the types of caches that I love to find. Yes I too hate looking for them but, Oh! the sense of accomplishment when I do find it. Thanx to all again for your words of wisdom pro or anti I definately enjoy the help. MonkeyHead
  13. If you are sure there are bowhunters in there I would recomend first wait till the season is over (almost there) If you can't wait I would only go in during mid-day no early morning or early evening. Lastly if there is any chance of someone gun hunting there I would definately wait till after season. I have a friend who was shot by an overzealous hunter. He survived but was laid up for a while. Remember those hunters are even more serious about the hunt than cachers and can be rather possessive even if they don't belong there. Hope this helps. For what it's worth I am not a hunter but, I work with hundreds of them and hear thier stories on a daily basis. (good or bad)
  14. I have an etrex legend cx and I learned that when I put a new topo (garmin 08) on the GPSr it deletes the old one. Is it doing the same thing when I load a new querie? I loaded roughly 200 in lots of 100 each. Just by looking It doesn't seem that I have all 200 on the GPSr. So.... If it deletes in this way can I stop this (reprogram)? Is there a way to see the number of GCs on the GPSr? Can I view my GCs by nickname rather than GCxxxxx#? Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanx, MonkeyHead
  15. Wow! I thought I was a spoiled rotten husband..... Even so my wonderfull Lovey would freak if I wanted a 300.00 toy. Congrats to you. Also job well done with the 20yr+ partnership. Oh Yeah!! I'm off for two weeks at CHRISTmas so if you need somebody to break the csx in for you send it to S.W. Indy
  16. At least you know who took yours (I'm assuming) MY daughter placed a TB and it dissappeared on the first drop. That was 9mo. ago still no sign. Another TB we placed the same day in another cache also went awol. Sad thing was the second was in race. I felt terrible and messaged the owner and apollogized. Best of Luck.
  17. Does anybody know if there is software to download PQs to the vue smart phone?
  18. Thanks to all that have replied. I have talked with one of the DNF (they made the contact) and they helped me to get some of the things straightened out. In my own deffense I thought this hide stuck out like a sore thumb and was right out in the open before getting into the haystack. I have read all of your replies and all are great information for future hides. Your help has been greatly appreciated. Geocachers Are Really Good People..... Thanx, MonkeyHead
  19. Last weekend I placed a new cache.... It is a homemade super hide. within 24 hrs. I had 5 DNFs three of which left some rather negative logs. I'm new to placing hides and did make some mistakes as far as my listing. I have revamped my listing since then. What do you do when everybody is coming down on you over your cache. It kinda takes the fun out of it when you get tore down on your second hide......
  20. I'm fascinated with the fact that it is the one and only thing I have found which gets me and my teen and pre-teen tech junkie kids to do something together. Prior to geocaching the kids had to be forced to go outside and now they beg me to go out and be a family...... Now That's Fascinating!!!!!!
  21. I am a E-ville fella and have been looking for a local group to no avail so far. I saw sumpin of ECO on another thread. Just wondering how to reach them.
  22. Hello, I live Square in the middle of the U.S. and I wanted to send a TB around Australia and don't want to wait 2-3 years for it to travel its way there. So I was looking for someone to whom I could snail mail my TB and would start it on its journey on the other side of the world. Any takers post here and we'll go from there. Thanx
  23. To match our name Team Monkeylove we place "Barrel of Monkeys" pieces with a silver heart and ML drawn on them. Be creative
  24. I don't know how to do the quotes but, Latex allergies dully noted something I would have never thought of. Thanx to all for your mentoring in my evil genius apprenticeship
  25. I saw on another topic something about free maps.... I don't need latest & greatest or suoer high detail just a lil sumpn sumpn with the back roads. I am sooo tired of driving in circles and still walking across five roads to get to a cache. So if someone knows of free maps please do tell
