  1. I read an article in Jeep Magazine about 3 years ago. It sounded cool but I had no GPS. We do a fare amount of RVing and a year and a half ago some fellow campers asked us to go caching. The whole family was hooked. For X-mas that year the wife got me an e-trex and we did our first cache the next day.

    Help!

Thanks all! I have traded e-mails with the owner of the coin. He thanked me for the effort and said he would be happy with any coin. I going to give him a cool Nocturnal Geocoin and a Vehicle Decal Travel Bug.
  3. I grabbed a someones pocketpups.net geocoin out of a cache last fall. I have misplaced the coin and would like to replace it for the owner. The problem is the site that sold them is sold-out. If anyone has this coin and would like to sell or trade or if anyone can offer any advice I would appreciate it. Thank-you.

  5. The problem is, not all support our troops. This game is open to all in the world, it's a global game. Yes it is, and its traditionally American but a cache page is for a cache in a particular area. The question still is whats the agenda? Here some history of the yellow ribbon. I'm sure there's not a single Iranian or other middle easterner anywhere in the USA that had differing views...but that's besides the point. Would you want a cache allowed that said DEATH TO AMERICANS? It's a global game. How does a yellow ribbon = DEATH TO AMERICANS? A yellow ribbon is just a symbol of support it is nether for or against war or a political policy or ideology. I understand its a global game. Not sure what your trying to get at. If the rule said "nothing offensive to anyone" there would be no caches. The rules say no agendas. SO AGAIN whats the agenda? Its not an agenda.

  7. Siren. He is a 3 Y/O Pekinese and Shetzu. Even thou he small he is a ball of energy and he loves caching!!!
  8. Again, I don't think the problem is with banning agendas from cache pages. The problem is that a yellow ribbon is NOT an agenda. I work for a city Fire Department. We participate in red shirt Fridays. Its a movement to show support for the troops. Our shirts say "we support our troops" and have a yellow ribbon on them. Its not PRO-War or Anti-War. Its just a message that we appreciate their sacrifice. The "troops" don't get a say in where or what they do. If I put a political button on my uniform I would be disciplined as we are not allowed to promote political agendas in uniform. So whats the agenda?
  9. THANK YOU! This is my point. Supporting the US Soldiers is not a agenda. Its like supporting your teamsters Union, or your local football team. I live in Wisconsin and Hate football, but I don't hold it against the Packer Players themselves, Its not their fault, its just their job. You're wrong. Just ask pacifists, the owners of companies that don't want unions, or the other football teams. Supporting any of these groups is an agenda. We long ago said that cache listings were off limits for *any* agenda without first getting permission from Groundspeak. It has been long understood that signature items and items in caches don't follow that same rule (though many do find it distasteful to leave religious tracts or other agendas into their caches). As a result we allow flexibility with cache items inside caches because a ) we can't "control" that anyway and B ) it is hard enough to make the cache containers as agenda-less as possible. Since there is a big distinction between the container and the object within the cache container we think that it is not a pot/kettle issue. The solution, already provided earlier in the thread, is to drop a real ribbon in a cache and not to put it or any other agenda on the cache page. If someone is offended by the agenda they can trade it out of the cache. (edit: my b became a smiley) I am asking any pacifists what their thoughts are. My understanding is that they do support the troops. They don't support wars or the military. I agree with not allowing political agendas or corporate agendas but a yellow ribbon.
  10. Thanks everyone. I put the google tool bar back on my browser. So problem solved.
  11. What are your thoughts about adding spell check to the log page of the web site and here in the forums?
  12. Look - I will field this as it should be fielded: I minted this coin. I didn't design it - Paula and Jeremy designed it. It's Jeremy's coin. I am not selling the coin.. it's not mine to sell. Jeremy chose the platings for his coin - Paula chose what she wanted AFTER Jeremy made his decision. I posted the announcement for this coin because Jeremy said I could announce it - that's it. You want this coin? Go to Jeremy for it, but get the hell off my case. I have alot to deal with at the moment and I don't have the time to explain myself to you. I'm not being bitter, but it seems to me that even though I am trying to get my life back in order, All you people seem to worry about is how many flames you can throw at me along the way. Sorry... I don't play that. This thread is about Jeremy's personal coin. It's not about me.. How about keeping your eye on the ball and this thread about THIS COIN, as per the Groundspeak rules. I am actually appalled that the mods haven't stopped this crap - cuz that's what it is. Now, if you want to come at me through a PM, fire away - but I am going to take your comments and others in this thread and strike it up to your character, as I always have. I dislike people too, but I don't try to screw them on a daily basis like so many of you. Warm regards, Jim How can you take money from people and not make good on it then blame people for your problems? Then you talk about peoples character. Wow!!! All you have done is shown me your character and tarnished Jermeys.
  13. Old MacDonald went for a micro, Ee-i-ee-i-o, And at the micro there was a muggle, Ee-i-ee-i-o, With a muggle-muggle here, And a muggle-muggle there, Here a muggle, there a muggle, Everywhere a muggle-muggle, Old MacDonald went for a micro, Ee-i-ee-i-o.
  14. Anyone try peanut butter on an oreo? YUMMMMMMY!!!
  15. We get a magazine from Jeep. It had an article about geocaching using jeeps. I thought that it sounded cool but I didn't own a gps. We do a fair amount of camping and on one such trip friends of ours asked us to go caching. The whole family had a blast. For X-mass I got a gps and did my first cache the next day.
  16. It looks great. I've been using my blackberry for months now for caching and think its the best. I do see the benifits of the iphone and think this will be my next move. I going to wait thou until the gps is available. The best part of using the blackberry is no matter where you are you can search with the gps the surounding area for caches. Very convenient while you travel. I assume this will do the same eventually?
  17. Thats over 13 caches a day average.
  18. It is part of the game. In the glossary it is explaned. I chalange you to show me a cache that hasn't been logged FTF at least once. It is just wrong to log any cache without finding it first.
  19. I agree!! Showing a new gps unit, tips from the web site, or Geo coins being made would break up just going for the cache. Also go after deferent types of caches would aslo keep it from getting dull. I would even show an event caches and meet some of us crazy cachers . I would watch that week after week.
  20. SHORT-CUT! The ice is plenty thick... The cache won't be burried, the snows not that deep... Two bottles of water should be plenty... PS. That snake bit looks awfull.
  21. How loud is it? 2 strokes can be noisy.
