  1. I bought 2 brand new Vist HCX's for $225 each, shipping included. I also sold 2 of my older used units. ERIC
  2. I have tried to format the card with FAT and FAT32 and both seem to work. Is one better than the other? ERIC
  3. It is highly consistent. As M corrected noted, you are being bitten by map hierarchy. Only the highest-ranking map is shown when they overlap. I disagree. I select both maps and send to unit. If there is not enough room on memory card or too many map segments, then an error should let me know. I turn off topo and metroguide does not show up. Is "basemap" just the map that comes preloaded? Also, some map sections did not load and show up as a blue crosshatched area. What's up with that? ERIC
  4. I have been trying to add MetroGuide v6 and Topo maps to my 2G microSD many many times! It seems that every time I send both maps to the GPS, something does not work in the long run. I tried adding 417 maps (164MB) with both topo and metroguide, basically all of wisconsin plus a portion of each surrounding state. When I try to view the maps on my GPS, only metroguide shows up. Why does this seem to be so inconsistant! I want as much of the US as I can fit on that memory card with topo and metroguide. What is so hard about this! I have about 20 hours worth of building maps and am still unhappy! ERIC
  5. I have an Etrex HCx with a Kensington 2GB card with over 1k/1GB of maps. ERIC
  6. So, what is that limit? I have tried to load 3000 maps or so with what look to be success. But, when trying to view the maps on the GPS, about every other map was missing. Shouldn't an error or something come up saying that I have exceeded the number of maps? ERIC -Vista HCx with 2GB microSD
  7. Easy money! So what was affected by this update? Funny that you can update through Garmin WebUpdater but their website does not show it yet. ERIC
  8. Thanks, I have been visiting this forum for a month but could not post for some reason even though I was a member. Most waypoints are within 20 miles and I didn't make any other changes that I know if. I have a feeling my waypoints are now gone. They used to show up on the mapsource software, but there is nothing now. I also can't stand waiting for my maps to build and load to my microSD card. I bet I have 10 hours waiting for these maps to load, and most of the time the maps are not complete after a couple hours of loading. I want as many MetroGuide v6 and Topo maps as I can fit on my 2GB card! ERIC
  9. I purchased a new Vista HCx and a 2GB microSD card about a month ago. I added about 20 waypoints and connected the unit to my PC with the USB cable. I then sent info from GPS to PC, did some looking around, then closed Mapsource without saving. Next I went into my GPS and all waypoints were gone, but maps were still there. To see if I did something wrong, I saved a waypoint and did the above sequence again, and my waypoint was still in the GPS. What did I do wrong? ERIC
