  1. Seriously?? That's all she's worth to you? A nanocache? Show her how much she really means to you and hide a 55 gallon drum! Hmm...that way I could hide myself. Also, the garbage truck could find me first. Nah, the nanocache would have the proposal, and I'll have the ring. I ain't hiding the ring in the cache
  2. So I need your help with something - my girlfriend and I have started to Geocache together and she really enjoys it. I just realized I could use this to propose to her! My idea is to hide a nanocache with a piece of paper with the proposal in it and I would hide it in the park where we first kissed (yeah yeah sappy sorry). So, how can I create the Geocache in terms of putting the waypoint into the GPS. I have a Garmin eTrek 30 and need to get the data into a paperless cache. Thoughts? I figure I can't upload a new cache because others will find it. My thinking is just to edit a gpx file and upload it to my GPS. Thanks for your help!
  3. I tried to introduce my girlfriend to caching today but I'm not very experienced either. We managed to find a few but frustratingly failed at 3 other ones. Where can I get help and hints beyond the ones listed in on the page description, hints, and logs from others? Is there a forum to ask questions?
  4. Hi all! I'm getting back into Geocaching but one of my big things is to make it easy for me to find caches with technology. I love the idea of paperless as I would love to be outside and search for caches near me without having to preplan too much. I also like to read the cache details in the field as well. I have an Oregon 400t but unfortunately to do paperless on that thing you need to upload the caches ahead of time. But reading the cache details on that thing was a pain in the a**, especially going back and forth between details and the mapping. I'm thinking that some iPad apps would work great for me, but I don't have the 4G ipad - just the wifi. That also leads to the problem of getting GPS to find the darned thing. So here's what I'm thinking of what I'd do in the field: 1. Use my iPad along with a Mifi to find the caches around me using the Geocaching app or Geo Bucket 2. Type in the coordinates into my Oregon 400t. The downside is typing the coordinates. Or: 1. Get an old 3G or 4G iPad and use that. The downside is it's hard to not be too obvious when in Muggle territory. Any other ideas? I'm open to buying new hardware if needed.
  5. So the cache's log will show two logs? Doesn't that get annoying for cache owner to see two logs by the same person? There's no other way to do it?
  6. Hey guys. I've read that some cachers carry a bug with them as their own so they can track the caches they've visited. So I got one of my own (as well as 3 others to seed) but I don't know how to do actually log my caches. The instructions say that when you log the cache indicate what bug you picked up or dropped off. But if I wanted to use this, does that mean I have to log a cache twice (one to drop and one to pick)?
  7. Dude. You win the prize! Although the gear ZSandmann has is beautiful, albeit too expensive for a travel bug.
  8. I'm looking to buy some gears to put on my new travelbugs. I'm hoping to find some that look like washers, aren't too heavy, and are decently cheap. I plan on painting three of them each a different color and release them as I drive from IL to NC. But I don't think the Home Depot sells gears... Any ideas?
  9. I'm about to buy some travel bugs but I have some questions. Are you supposed to decorate them? When you pick one up, do you decorate it as well? Do travel bugs have a webpage that when people log they can see and it shows them information about the bug (like it's personality, goal, etc.)? Finally, I'm currently in Chicago but at the end of the month I'm driving to NC. I would like to offer to transport people's bugs but I don't know how to do that. Is there a forum for hitchhikers?
  10. Still available...no one interested?
  11. no problem... so...still for sale...
  12. I will when I get home (6pm EST).
  13. Sorry, I have to pass, but thanks for the offer. Anyone interested in buying my GPS V?
  14. Ok...i read the PM from above and replied. I still have it as a member named rocky contacted me to buy it but as not been heard since. PM or email me if you're still interested. I'm really sorry.
  15. Whoops...sorry guys...I thought I set this thing to notify me when I get new posts... I really apologize.
  16. http://www.garmin.com/products/gps5/ It's in excellent condition (i've used a screen protector on it) and includes the car adapter and mount (though you may need to get a new sticky pad since I've used the one it came with to stick the mount to my car.) Also included are the serial cable and the software included, including the North America City Select v4 that was included AND the North America City Select v6 update. Ebay is selling this for about $250 or so (plus a lot more for shipping). I will take $200 + shipping or best offer. Let me know if you have any questions. Email at erwin.chan(at)gmail.com or reply to this thread.
  17. oops...i should have posted that. Thanks DW.
  18. According to garmin's webpage, it is one of the accessories advertised for the 60cs, so yes it does fit the 60cs. Look for a little round plug and that's the MCX connector.
  19. I have the garmin antenna that I bought for my 2610. However, I just returned the 2610, but I couldn't return this because I lost the packaging. The antenna fits any Garmin units via the standard coaxial connector (MCX). http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...g=UTF8&v=glance http://shop.garmin.com/accessory.jsp?sku=010%2D10052%2D05 Includes the antenna and two mounts (suction and magnetic). Purchased it for $63 (plus shipping). I will sell it for $45 including shipping. Nothing wrong with this antenna or the unit. It was just too much money It was a sweet 2 weeks while I had it though.
  20. thanks for the clarification! Is it worth upgrading to cs v5?
  21. I have a GPS V and I want to get newer maps since I have the City Select 4.01. that came with the unit. Apparently, I cannot use Metroguide v5 since it doesn't autoroute on the GPS V. So I have to get the City Select 5. The garmin webpage is fairly confusing. First it says something about buying City Select then unlocking with a discount or something. See this page: http://www.garmin.com/unlock/ Then there's this. Is this a free upgrade from 4.01 to 5.0? http://shop.garmin.com/cartography/mapsour...CD=011-00803-04 Basically, do I have to buy City Select 5.0?
