  1. This isn't normal in my experience. Is it possible that you had only a 2d lock when the waypoint was created or perhaps when you checked on it later? Otherwise I'm not sure what to suggest. What was the GPSr used? they are really easy to move on mine which I found out. on my garmin. simply clicking on a waypoint in the map, move the pointer somewhere else, click again and the waypoint is moved. very dangerous and very stupid as far as I'm concerned. that might have been your problem. acidently moving it while trying to click on it. Its more than one waypoint, but not all. I am pondering the possibility that just trying a "find" and looking at it on the map the click stick may jar the waypoint "loose". I dont use the click switch when I look at a waypoint so this is perplexing.

What was the GPSr used? Vista HCx, what do you mean by 2nd lock? But I remember it happening to my Vista C once or twice
  3. If a waypoint is say on top of a known landmark one day on your GPSr then say a couple days later that same waypoint jumped up to 500 ft away, is this something normal?
  4. Thank you Devil Dog...good luck with the caches.
  5. Worldwide satellite displays or aerials down to street level, I travel a lot to remote places
  6. You can get down to street detail anywhere in the USA. Where I would like would be a worldwide street level and topo like the hybrid Google maps, maybe Google can do it, just wishful thinking. Bushnell is a step in the right direction for the "perfect" GPSr, but I think they will tackle the worldwide meshing of Google type aerials or Sat views pretty soon. thanks for the maps website BTW

  10. Would Sat images give street detail?
  11. Worldwide sat? Would it show street level detail for the entire world? I would think that would be a first!

  17. What do you mean more detail? Are there more back roads in the older version versus the 2008 one? I tried to compare the two online and they show similar roads, etc. I couldn't find much difference. I'm sure that changes when using it on the gps. For one the marine stuff, I am not a serious boater but the marine detail on the old Topo was ok for me, the old Topo also had more POI's, it cluttered the device sometimes the less rural you were. The downside was that you had to always have the cd's with you to change maps and such, and the upside to the 2008 is that it renders better on the computer, just my 2 cents. Also on a side by side test with my Vista C with old Topo and the HCx with 2008 the Vista C stayed closer to actual road or trail.
  18. personally I found the older version of Topo better, it had more detail even marine stuff, about the only thing better is the fact that once you load 2008 you no longer need to load the discs anymore and it renders better on the computer, the older version of Topo shows better accuracy on the device.
  19. If you can a hold of the 3 cd older version of Topo its got more detail including marine stuff and its more accurate than 2008 DVD, the older version may be outdated but it is better.
  20. Both good ideas, silver sharpie with #'s sounds the best
  21. OK I have three SD cards with 3 seperate maps, is there any small size stickers or labeling available to differentiate between them, I know they were meant for temporary storage and their small size and dark color wont allow for sharpies or the such, any ideas?
  22. MM, thanks I deleted all the waypoints on the units before downloading that did the trick.
