  1. Venture Vicars! I like it. Will cache for food
  2. I'm around, I've just been very busy. I was traveling last weekend on business and we are in the process of moving in a couple of weeks. I'll check out Fizzy's today, I might be free tonight. Thanks for the congrats! We're still trying to come up with a name. My wife won't let me name him Garmin. -Mark. Will cache for food
  3. quote:Anyone know where Gabby Hayes is from? I'm not sure where he's from, but last I heard, Roy Rodgers had him stuffed and posed next to Trigger at his museum in Apple Valley/Victorville. -Mark Will cache for food
  4. Welcome to our obsession! Your enthusiasm is understandable and appreciated, but I would have to echo George. Get 20+ different caches under your belt and read the forums for a few weeks before placing your first cache. As far as the types of caches I like, my own preference is a good 2-3 mile hike where I'm rewarded with a great view or unusual geologic feature. I also appreciate caches which are clever or imaginative. But everybody is different, the easier caches get more hits and are more popular with families. I also recommend that you visit "Stumped," and "Stumped Again." Also, any of Fizzy's or Hot Foot's caches are clever if you enjoy math and puzzles. Pepper (Team Super Genious) has several caches that are very creative (Speckles is a good example). Again, welcome aboard! Have fun, be safe and I look forward to running into you on the trails. -Mark. Will cache for food
  5. I also have a geocaching buddy named Connor (now 8 years old) and another on the way. I want to name the new arival GEO-rge, but the wife won't go along with it. Humm, maybe Garmin.... or Magellan... Will cache for food

  7. Not necessarly, but it would be nice to know if my coordinates are accurate before I drive out to the central valley. As long as I know my coordinates are right it can be as hard as you want. The fun thing about this activity is there are all kinds of caches with different ratings. Regarding your new cache, I got multiple answers for #1. (I might be doing it wrong) I tried mapping them out on topozone & mapquest and none of them are obvious. I've emailed you for a hint. -Mark. Will cache for food
  8. Sorry, 'bout that. Why not? Guess Who? Who's on first?.... Well, Niles is open now. I just drove through it. I hope to hit Claire's cache today on my lunch hour. I might try More than Math as well. I think I've got the calculations correct this time. I found six different combinations that work, but only a couple are near the road. -Mark. Will cache for food
  9. Having found over 100 caches, Max was only the third geocacher I've run into. As much as I love finding caches, I enjoy talking about caching with other Cachers just as much. -Mark. ps. He looks nothing like his picture Will cache for food

  11. I was hiking in Pleasanton Ridge today, to hit Pepper's Guess What cache and decided to see if the archived cache Joaquine's Stash was still there. It was archived with a travel bug still in it. Well, the cache is still there, in good condition. I've rescued the bug and will send it on its way shortly. -Mark. Will cache for food
  12. Pepper, thanks for thinking of me! Yep, I drive through the canyon everyday. In fact I have scoped out a couple of spots in there to hide a future cache. Well if your cache posts within the next hour, I'll hit it on my way home. Otherwise, I'm going to have to wait until Monday evening. -Mark. Will cache for food

  15. I about pee'd my pants reading Hot Foot's log in a new light. I imagined someone dressed up like a cow...remindes me of a punchline of an old joke..."Moo Moo Big Boy." Okay, time to wipe my eyes.... Mark Will cache for food

  19. I'm sorry, but I'm sitting here at work laughing so hard I'm crying. Especially after reading Pepper's post and then reading Hot Foot's before that in a whole new light. As Fizzy mentioned, it is very weird to know there is a whole other society out there. I came across a similar place near Auburn. However, we actually stumbled upon guys in the act. Fortunately, my son didn't see what was going on. -Mark. Will cache for food
