  2. Well my Christmas present arrived a bit early. Christian Andrew, was born on December 16th. Mom and son are doing great. I wanted to name him Magellan but my wife wouldn't go for it. I did get new vanity plates for my car: GEOCACH. Everybody have a great holiday! -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  3. The T4 Cache still ranks as one of my favorites. I too had to rock climb to get to it. Lots of fun. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to all of my CVC friends! -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  4. Wow! All this secret code stuff sounds like the book I just finished reading; Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. Secret codes, treasure hunting with GPS's, lot's of good stuff. One of the best books I've read in years... -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  5. Well, good luck in Washington, the birth place of Geocaching. You've sure done alot for geocaching out here in the Tri-Valley and beyond. You'll be missed. Lamneth, Doh! I should have seen it. I was a HUGE Rush fan when I was younger (20 years ago!) and 2112 is still up there as one of my favorite albums of all time. -Mark Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  6. Welcome Trish! Fizzy, I found a couple of your caches in Pleasanton Ridge. Lot's of fun. I had to look up coprolite, but it turns out my 11 year-old son learned all about it in school this year. I think I might have to look into private schools! Has anyone checked out www.venona.com ? Interesting bio... Fizzy, have fun on the cruise. Don't drink the water (or breath the air! ) -Mark Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Marky:Hey Mark, If I recall correctly, I remember you mentioning that you took some pictures of Enchanted Crystals cache. Could you post them to the cache now that all the crystals have been found? I'd love to see it how you found it. --Marky "Everyone spends time in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer with a backlit GPSr" Will do, although the picture doesn't do it justice. I'll try to get it posted in the next day or so. -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.

I attached a travel bug to it and will release it near Sonora or Knights Ferry this weekend. Here's the link: http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=13687 BTW I gave you credit... -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it. Did you get a chance to drop it off? george http://img.Groundspeak.com/user/39570_500.jpg Pedal until your legs cramp up and then pedal some more. Nope, I was going to leave it in Point to View, but we couldn't find it. After that, every cache we hit was a micro. I'll try to lose it this week. Maybe in Pleasanton. -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Green Achers:Mr. Vic went to Hawai'i before going to George's Test of Genius. Too bad. Hope you had a great vacation Mark. Did you learn to Hula? Bill of Green Achers "Why is 'Tourist Season' not mentioned in the Fish and Game Manual?" I don't think anyone wants to see me Hula! Unfortunately, I was there on business and didn't have too much free time. The little I did have I devoted to Geocaching. I've solved George's Test of Genius, but I don't get out to Patterson too often. I'll be going through the CV on my way to Sonora Friday. Maybe I hit a couple of caches along the way! -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  10. quote:Originally posted by fizzymagic:Here's an interesting exercise: find the exact location of the Tao House online. It's a lot harder than you might think -- the NPS is pretty cagey about the location. Probably for good reason, I suppose. Yea, they don't have a whole lot online. Here's the official link Tao House. BTW, the admin at Ground Speak did not approve this cache due to it being on NPS land. I emailed her to inform her that it is actually within Las Trampas Regional Wilderness. -Mark. Elvis is dead. 12. I'll have to pick up a tiki while I'm here and attach a travel bug to it... -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  13. Okay, so I'm in Hawaii for business this week (yea, I know, tough job) and after work I go geocaching to a cache with several Travel bugs in it. By the time I find it, it's dark outside so I reach around and finally feel the familiar shape of a travel bug attached to some sort of medalian. I put it in my pocket and when I get to the car I check it out. It's a soccer medalian from my home town of San Ramon. Small world! -Aloha! Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  14. Way to go on #300! Very impressive in such a short time. I'm heading out to Honolulu tomorrow on business. I hope to hit my first out-of-state cache while I'm there. I'm also bringing a small Travel Bug with me from the Boston area. -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.

As none of them seem to turn up on the thread Markwell pointed me towards. I checked out the site, and was not too impressed with their selection. Based on what they carry, I would go with either the Merrell or Vasque brands (whichever feels more comfortable to you). I wear Montrails and have been very pleased with them. Try them on with the socks you're planning on wearing hiking. Also, if possible, try them on in the afternoon. Feet tend to be larger then. -Mark Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  16. My youth back. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  17. In reality, no. But I would definately check out the number and quality of caches in the area before I committed to anything. It's a moot point however, there are over 1300 caches within a 100 mile radius of my town. I'm not moving! -Mark. Elvis is dead. Get over it.
  18. Las Trampas is one of my favorite places to hike. Thanks for the post of the Sentinal Cow. I'll have to check it out. -Mark. Will cache for food
  19. Great idea. How about a Geocaching beer mug? So I can combine my two favorite hobbies. -Mark Will cache for food
  20. I can't wait to find this one. Hopefully, Saturday will be clear. Between moving, work and the kid's programs I haven't had time to do much geocaching. Maybe we can get together soon for a beer. Shoot me an email or call me. -Mark. Will cache for food
  21. Long time no speak. I'm excited to see a new Chuguy cache in this country! It looks like fun. -Mark. Will cache for food
  22. We'd love to be at the picnic but we're moving this weekend. We'll try to make the next one. -Mark. Will cache for food

  24.
