  1. if I move a tb to 'lost' and someone finds it...can they enter the code and bring it back? just wondering....
  2. I finally got my first FTF today and it felt pretty darn cool!!!! to be the first one to a cache and be the first to sign the log was something I've been hoping for since I started caching a year ago... I was always a 'day late and a dollar short' when it came to FTF's....And on top of that I got one of the Jeep TB's which I haven't had yet... Im pretty darn proud of myself!!! Thanks to WVKiwi for the cache!
  3. quick update.... went back to the cache tonight and wrote down everyone that has signed the log since I placed the TB... I have emailed everyone except for 1. The name in the book looks like 'walkingwoman1' but when I tried to find this person on the main website it said the user didn't exist...i'm going to try and do a search on parts of the name and see what comes up... On the outside chance u know this person please let me know. thanks
  4. No..I definately put it in Kaiserklan....my step daugther and I dropped bugs at the same time and hers is still in there...i did not check the log book to compare with the online log...I'll do that shortly...and thanks for the tip..I'll check the letterbox too... that cache seems to get alot of people who are traveling(go figure..it's at a rest stop..lol) so sometimes it takes weeks for the person to log the grab. I have a coin that someone grabbed several weeks ago and they havent dropped it in a new cache yet...so...i've got my fingers crossed... cheers! will
  5. I was going to add you might want to increase the difficulty also...the terrain is fine....but even tho it's an easy walk...increasing the difficulty might warn people also of the 'hardships' they might encounter... fyi..firefox is great..it has a built in spellchecker..hehe
  6. most mcdonalds charge for their wifi (at least thats what i've found) but on the other hand...Panera has free wifi...used it many times...even played my PSP there..lol
  7. I placed my first travel bug a couple weeks ago....and it hasn't moved out of the cache yet...so I went by grab it and move it to a different cache... well it wasn't in there...hopefully someone was there today and just hasn't logged it yet.... it's pretty discourging when people take coins and tb's and don't log them for weeks...I had on of the military KIA coins on my watchlist...the person grabbed it back in late May....and they just dropped it a cache this week... I guess maybe I shouldn't be so emotionally attached to my coins and bugs??? lol
  8. people who fake going to caches just to up their counts are only hurting themselves. is it the responsiblity of the caching community to police and call these people out? I dunno...I mean it's a hobby...it's something we enjoy doing...why claim a cache if you haven't gone to it? I don't know the answer to that one...
  9. You could always ask the person to send u their pic...and u could take a pic of the coin and then photoshop it... hehe
  10. Hi all.. I noticed that there isn't a myspace group for WV Cachers...so I created one... http://groups.myspace.com/geocachingwv if you're a member of myspace...stop on by... I found the wv cacher group on yahoo and it has 144 members but is rather stagnant... thanks! Will StormchaserWV
  11. How often does everyone think tb's and coins go missing?? my brother put a coin out in remembrance of our grandfather and now it's gone MIA...I've messaged the last person that had it and of course he said he put it in it's current cache...back in march... and now the cache has apparently been muggled...I messaged the cache owner (who hasn't been active on Groundspeak since February) and asked if the cache is still intact. ugh... sucks big time!
  12. so you're saying that finders are adding their own items/tags/id's to the original tb?? yeah..that is a little tacky.
  13. i guess a good example is... tried to locate cache on 3 seperate ocassions. several people over the last two months have also logged DNFs and after reading all the found log entries over the last 2 years i gleen some information on what it should look like and where it should be. I find pieces of what I think used to be the cache. so I posted a maintenance log. in another instance the cache owner has not logged onto geocaching.com for several months and there are several dnf's. I again posted a maintenance note. I feel like I'm being on of those 'cache cops' and questioning whether I should have posted or not.... I don't want to be 'chicken little'
  14. Just curious what the "accepted" procedure is for notifying a cache owner of potential problems with a cache. Do you contact the owner directly? post a note on the log? post an encrypted note on the log? Just wondering how others handle this sometimes delicate issue... Will
  15. Hi all..my name is Will..I am in the eastern panhandle of WV. I have been caching for about a year now...off and on..but back into it now 100%. Have just under 50 caches found and have placed my first cache (an easy micro..just to get my feet wet) and have purchased my first TB's and coins.
