  1. Believe me, it's taken years of practice-- no, not practice...will, to reach the pinnacle of human happiness that I now have.

I actually choose now not to do things that will piss her off-- for self-preservation, mind you. Still, I stumble over hidden little mines all the time.

  3. Hey Mark! Just THINK how many MORE finds you would have with a REAL GPS? LOL! Notice I said it wasnt impossible to do with an etrex, cause I know there are freaks of science out there like you and Stayfloopy. Just prove that for every rule there is always an exception (or 2). icon_smile.gif

Just for the silly record, I managed to locate about 30 caches with my first, the basic eTrex. Worked great! Sold it, though, and upgraded to a Map 76 which I'm quite happy with.

  5. Well! Mitsuko sure is pretty-- wish I had a mug I felt that confident about putting up on a board with so many boys who spend too much time rooting around in the dirt.

Welcome, lady! You're almost as pretty as my wife!

  7. Hey, painting ammo boxes are fine, I suppose, it all depends on how much care you want to put into it. My wife would do that, as she shows concern for any possible 'accident' that might happen.

Still, I don't bother to. One, it takes up time and slows down my placement. I might never get any done! They seem remarkably strong for the outdoors, at least for the purposes we put to them. I almost suspect they could be submerged and survive-- at least for awhile.

I don't bother with tupperware anymore unless I'm in some odd rush-- and they're cheap at the dollar stores. Each ammo box ranges from $6-8 in my neck o' the woods-- though I once found them for $3 down in Monterey. Alas-- I should've bought more there when I had the chance.

  8. Lordy, I feel like I've been hibernating this winter-- I just... stopped geocaching. Then my unit went on the fritz, but yes, it's back in action, and I hope to be, too.

I've had three ammo boxes in my car, filled with things, waiting for the moment.

Seems the problem with my GPS was 'corrupted data' from the time I upgraded the OS on the GPS Map76. Now, good as new.

    Me, too!

  9. I generally like to make sure that the item in question is adequately hidden. If it seems to be easily spotted by any stick in the mud, I'll make the effort to 'tuck it in' a bit-- hoping that the original cacher won't mind. We all have some amount of leeway about rehiding caches-- so long as we don't move it twenty feet-- or put it on our porch.

  10. OK, I admit it-- in recent months, I've been fairly lackluster about geocaching. Not sure why-- winter? The fact that I've more or less mastered the skills? Jeez, I dunno... but just when I get the urge, my GPS goes on the blink.

I was getting ready to hit the road and place a new cache when...

    blink!

Fortunately Garmin believes it's still under warranty so it's back in their hopefully capable hands, but now I'll be having no idea where I am eXACTly for another week or longer!

    !@#$%!!

Thanks to Garmin in any case, for helping me out!
