  1. They have tracked me down again! After having thought I had thrown them off of my trail last December, it turns out they knew where to find me all along. I knew I shouldn't have gone poking around where I wasn't supposed to be poking around, but my curiosity had again gotten the better of me (when will I ever learn). To see what I mean, check out this log from my trip out near Area 51 last December to the closest cache to that UFO hotspot (Click here for log entry). Now today I find a strange metalic envelope containg a cryptic note and a strange glowing disc in it inside my mailbox. The disc even has the number 009 (the date that I encountered them in December) inscribed on it. I don't know what to do! They (the infamous 'THEY') obviously still know where I am and I fear that the strange metalic glowing disc is an alien tracking device so that they can keep an eye on my actions. I thought about throwing the disc away, or even mailing it away to someone else, but there is something about it that makes me unable to even put it down. It is almost like I MUST keep it, no matter how badly I want them out of my life. I suppose I should just buckle under and join their research group. At least that way, I can keep an eye on them and maybe even learn some of their secrets. Maybe I will just wait a day or two and see if I receive any other kind of sign... Oh yeah, one other strange thing has happened since recieving this metalic disc... The noises in my head have stopped! I don't know whether to be frightened by this, or overjoyed that the noises have finally stopped... Oh... What to do, what to do.....
  2. Got home about 4:30am after driving all the back to Southern California from Geowoodstock (21 hours straight). I will look through all of the coins I have already traded for and try and contact the folks I didn't get to trade with. If you did not trade with me yet, please contact me and we can make arrangments. Unfortunaltely all of the group coins I have left got mixed up with all of the coins I bought/traded for and the coins I won in the poker tournament when the case holding them get turned upside down in the car on the way home. It may take me a day or so to get them all sorted out...
  3. Me and Johnslady56 had a great time at Geowoodstock! After spending two days driving and caching and camping we made it to our final campsite for Geowoodstock. We set up camp and then headed out for the first of the many events we attended over the weekend. Met a ton of new caching friends and also got to meet up with some old caching buddies that we hadn't seen since Geocoinfest 2009. Got to find the Ape Cache, the Original Stash Plaque, Groundspeak HQ and even scooted up to Canada for some international caching. The highlight for me was winning the Geocoin Poker Tournament!!! Since we were to be tent camping the entire trip I only brought the three geocoins needed for the buy-in at the tournament as I did not have a good safe place to keep any of my trader geocoins. Little did I know that in just a few fun hours of playing poker that I would leave with an aditional 60 geocoins for my collection and for trading! That meant that I would actually have some coins to trade with at the Midnight Madness geocoin event! I would like to thank all of the volunteers, the WSGA and COWWS for arranging everything. It seemed to me that everything went off without a hitch! I would also like to thank The Moop Along (Pete) for handling everything at the poker tournament! You did another fantastic job Pete!!! All in all I had a FANTASTIC time at all the events and loved every minute of it. Its just too bad that it had to end and I had to go home (stupid job!!!)... Looking forward to the next Geowoodstock event!!!
  4. I really like this idea Mike! I would like the bigger ones better than the smaller version as it would be easier to see the details with these old tired eyes of mine. I also like the idea of creating a 'map' that they would fit into. Count me in for a complete set....
  5. Invoice received and paid!!! Now the real painful waiting begins.... Hope I can get to sleep tonight, as I am now seriously worked up for GW!!!
  6. I am so sorry to here about you recent trouble... Email sent for the two Year of the Ox coins.... Now just patiently waiting for a reply... who am I kidiing.... I have no patience....
  7. RODDY!!!! Welcome back my friend!!! Hope you got everything straightened out and going with all green lights...

  9. As the child of a fallen US Army soldier, I just had to place a bid on the Army geocoin auction. My father (a helicopter pilot in Vietnam) never made it back to us from a 'training' mission in country, so this really hits close to home for me. And I would like to offer a personal Thank You for doing this awesome work, and for donating to help the children of our fallen. I just wish that there would have been more help for our fallen soldiers back when my family needed it. My mother ended up raising five children (including yours truly) all by herself, put herself through college and bought a house with only her VA widows benefits and some help from her family. In the end, we all turned out just fine though... Thanks again for doing this great deed, and for reminding us all that Memorial Day is NOT just a day off from work to BBQ or travel. It does have a very serious meaning behind it and we should all thank a soldier or the family members of a fallen soldier for their sacrifices for our freedoms!
  10. For all of us who only have Internet Explorer, here is a photo of the coin... Hope it works...
  11. I am planning on attending this event!!! Can't wait to get there... I cannot see the picture of the coin though
  12. I have a very special and sentimental released coin that I placed into a cache in California back on 08/07/2008 and it went missing from that same cache within weeks. I went back to the cache and checked all the names of all the people who logged it since I placed the coin in the cache and contacted most of them via email asking if they may have seen it or perhaps even picked it up without logging it. Only one person remembered seeing the coin in the cache and no one who replied back would admit to picking up the coin. So I wrote it off as another coin gone missing... Fast forward to 12/26/2009... The coin is back!!! Another geocacher found the coin in a cache in Nevada, and took it home to British Columbia where it has been safely placed into another cache to (hopefully) continue its journey... Total missing time 1 year and almost 5 months... Sure was nice to see this coin back in circulation again!!!
  13. I can't seem to find the twitter page anymore, can someone post a link please?
  14. I have a couple of small binders for my special/activated/discoverable coins. For my traders I use a couple of these: Stanley® SortMaster Organizer They fit nicely in the adjustable compartments and it has a pretty secure locking mechanism. However once completely filled they are quite heavy. You can pick them up at most home improvement stores for about $15.00...
  15. Beautiful coin, just reserved the set!! Too bad there isn't one in copper though; or maybe the AE??
  16. I'm guessing 93 total cards have been sent out....
  17. I just might have to take that weekend off and make it out to the event (put it on my watchlist for now)! And I love the coin!!!
  18. Great video!!! And no, I did not pass
  19. Talk about a tough choice... I finally narrowed it down to two and then flipped a coin...
  20. I am sure you will all recognize my son cat, Max. He is the one whos' picture I use for my avatar. We've always had at least one cat in every house we've ever lived in, I couldn't imagine a home without a cat in it. Anyways, back to Max, he is a purebred fawn abyssinian but is not quite show quality due to a small kink in the end of his tail and some little bits missing from his ears. We got Max from the local shelter about eight years ago where they estimated his age at about 8 months old. He and about 30 or 40 other cats were rescued from a breeder/hoarder who had run afoul with the local law enforcment agents and was placed in jail (nothing to do with the cats). All those kitties were left to run loose in this womans house for over a month with no one to attend to them. There were numerous dead cats and kittens in the house and of those still alive only a few were without serious medical problems. When the shelter folks were called in they were appaled at the conditions of most of the cats and kittens and they rounded them all up and took them back to the shelter where a team of local veterinarians had volunteered their time to speed up the processing and treatments. Out of the 30 or 40 cats and kittens that were rescued only a handful survived and Max was one of them. My daughter was volunteering at the shelter at the time and had told me the story of this rescue with tears in her eyes. She had known that I have always had a fondness for abyssinian cats and told me that there were a few of them from this rescue. I immediately headed over to the shelter and began checking out these kitties. When I got to the cage that Max was in, he was curled up in his little cardboard bed in the corner of the cage, but when he saw me he immidiately got up out of his little bed and began to cry and rub the bars. My daughter was with me and told me that he never left his bed on his own, this was the first time he did that. It was love at first sight for the both of us. I headed right over to the shelter office and told them I wished to take him home. They told me about the limited history of him and also told me that he was still in quarantine but that I had a good chance of adopting him oncce he was cleared medically. A couple of days later they called back and told me that if I was still interested I could adopt him, as soon as I hung up the phone I headed to the shelter and had adopted him 30 minutes later. Since then we have been inseperable, he follows me wherever I go in the house and always comes running whenever I come home from work, he even sleeps with me in the bed every night either curled up next to me or between my feet under the covers when its chilly. He is the smallest kitty we have ever had (barely 6 pounds at 8 years old) and he is also the highest energy kitty we've ever had. He is such a great companion and is very smart. We've trained him to walk on a leash, ride in a car and has no problems taking a bath every month. So thats my story about my son cat Max...
  21. Such a tease, only showing the one side... I like it, a very patriotic coin for sure.... Can't wait to see the flip side.....
  22. Great idea for a cointest!!! And being an avid poker player myself I just HAVE to enter this one... I'll take: 9-12-33-42-50 As for my favorite game, TEXAS HOLD 'EM!!!
  23. I like it!!! Especially like the fact that the tracking number will be BIG (still not willing to admit that I may need glasses)...
  24. You're probably out of luck since their site is gone. You might try emailing contact@geocaching.com as a last resort. They should have the activation codes. Be patient with them though, as it might take a few days for them to reply. *** UPDATE *** The codes are now up at coincodes.com under "Coinswag.com coins." Click here to retrieve activation codes for CoinSwag geocoins
  25. Pretty strong words for someone who hasn't invested ANY money in any coins or TB's.... Personally I've lost quite a few coins to coin thieves and a few from muggled caches. I have released a couple of proxy cards but so far only for the coins that were in caches that had been muggled with no way for the coin to come back into the game. I have found and moved a number of proxy cards and have no problem with them whatsoever. I move them along because they are travelers with a mission; regardless if they are a shiny chunk of metal, a flat TB tag attached to something else or a laminated proxy card....
