  1. If there is one addressed to me can I have it forwarded to the black mailbox outside of Area 51? I am heading out that way next Tuesday to do the ET Highway series of caches and it wouldn't be much of a detour to head back over there to pick mine up....
  2. I am going to guess that you finish off the series, without hitting any others on the way. That would mean that you will find 615 caches!!!
  3. I never had the opportunity to serve even though I did try to enlist. The medics found a medical problem and denied my enlistment. However my father (US Army), my mother (US Air Force), and three of my uncles (1 in the US Air Force, 2 in the US Navy) did serve our country and I have always been proud of them. I found this posted somewhere on the internet and have kept it around and now I will share it with you: A veteran — whether active duty, retired, National Guard or reserve — is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote and blank check payable to “INSERT COUNTRY NAME HERE,” for an amount of “up to and including my life.” This is the honor of the veteran and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. I firmly believe in that statement and make it a habit to thank any active duty or retired veterans whenever I see them. So I would like to take this opportunity to send out a special heartfelt THANK YOU to all veterans and active duty personnel on this forum for their service and for the sacrifices they have made for all of us. And another special thank you to FairyHoney for putting this cointest out there.
  4. THEY FOUND ME!!! Somehow they have tracked me down and now know where I live (or at least where my mail is sent). WHY OH WHY did I ever go snooping around near Area 51? I should have just left things alone out there, but my human curiosity got the best of me and now I may be in trouble as well as anyone who I have been in contact with. I received an envelope and a letter on some very strange paper from a Mr. Gray this afternoon along with a few of my regular bills. I don't know if I should respond to the letter, or begin packing and looking for a new hiding place. I DO BELIEVE, and I think that they are getting ready for some sort of action and maybe they are using this info to keep tabs on those of us who truly do believe. What to do, what to do.... I think I will have to ponder this for a bit before deciding whether to throw in with the rest, or try and save myself so that I may help anyone else who falls into their trap. What am I thinking?!?! I am just one of the most advanced life forms on this planet. We humans are not afraid of anything on our Earth, so why does this letter scare me so much? I AM TIRED OF BEING AFRAID! I WILL follow the instructions in the letter I received, I will NOT fear this contact!
  5. Setup your notification just as you normally would, but when you get to the part where it says 'SEND TO:' enter the following: number@vtext.com Replace the word 'number' with your 10 digit cell phone number (That would be area code plus your seven digit phone number). This method should work so that when a new cache is published within the citeria you set up you should receive an SMS text message to your phone. Being limited to 160 characters means that you will have to then get to a computer to look up all of the cache info. Within the 160 characters that are sent will be the cache name and cache's GC number so you can look it up...
  6. I too have been wanting to do the ET Highway series but have been waiting for it to cool down in the desert a little bit first. What dates are you thinking of making your stab at it???
  7. You make a couple of valid points Nikos... As for the badges, that far out in the middle of nowhere and that close to a 'secret' military base their guns were all the badges they needed to show their authority.. Rental car... I work for the Rental car company and am entitled to a free rental car whenever I travel. So there would be no record in the rental cars computer system showing that I was driving the car since it is only tracked on paper, not electronically. Being that far out in the middle of nowhere, I did have my gun with me. However my .357 Magnum revolver wouldn't stand a chance against the M-16/AR-15's they were holding. And yes, it did scare me. Scared me enough that instead of camping out there in the desert as I had planned to do I drove another 6 hours out of the way and checked into a small motel for the night and then headed home the following day...
  8. My all-time favorite geocoin would have to be my DARK SIDE OF THE CACHE geocoin that my daughter gave me for Fathers day a couple of years ago. At that time I didn't even know that a Pink Floyd styled geocoin existed and with me being a huge Pink Floyd fan you can just imagine the shock and surprise on my face when she gave it to me... My second favorite geocoin would have to be my NAUGHTY LUMP OF COAL EARTH TURTLE geocoin that I won from Tsun (Thanks again Stephanie!)... As for my third favorite geocoin.... My very special wire wrapped EYE OF THE TRIBAL FLOWER that DJ.J Rock gifted to me. That one has a very special meaning to me and will never leave my collection...
  9. I too sent Mr. Gray an email but haven't heard back yet... I am guessing that they will turn me down for this project due to the fact that I was snooping around near Area 51 last year while out there caching. I even ran into some rather unsavory characters who chased me back to the main highway and then shadowed most of my moves around the area for the rest of that day. It was rather scary being followed and watched (even from a distance) while I continued caching. You can read my log from last years trip to the area that I posted for the nearest cache to Area 51 by clicking here. Or maybe I haven't been included because me and Johnslady56 got a little too close to the back gate of Area 51 just a couple of months ago on another cache run out to that area... Here's a picture that we took of the back gate; from a distance, with full zoom as I didn't want to get too close again... Or maybe because I DO BELIEVE, the Gray's don't want me... Either way, it has been fun to follow this thread....
  10. Reservation info submitted... Since this thread started I have been thinking about breast cancer and have so far been lucky that no one in my immediate family has been diagnosed with this awful disease. Not that I don't know some people who have had this cancer attack them, I have a couple of friends and some non-immediate family members who have been diagnosed and treated for this disease. So, with a little extra time on my hands this past few days I came up with a way that I can (hopefully) make a difference. I have looked through my coins and have selected five activated but not yet released coins that I will be sending out with a special message. The message is to spread more awareness about breast cancer and more importantly to help with the cure. All five of these coins will have a special pink laminated card attached to them explaining the mission of each coin. The missions are quite simple, move the coin to another cache as soon as possible. Sounds simple enough, doesn't it? But where does helping with the cure come into play? Quite simple actually... For every cacher that moves one of these special coins to another cache in the next twelve months, I will personally donate $1.00 to a breast cancer charity of my choice (I have already chosen my charity). Hopefully with this kind of mission, these coins won't get stolen or lost and will move quite a distance in the coming year... Not that I plan on stopping at only five geocoins. I am going to look through the coins again and see which other coins I can add to this mission of mine. If you want to see the coins that I have already selected for this mission, go to my geocaching profile and check them out. Feel free to add them to your watchlists so that you can follow them yourself. Also, if anyone is interested in any of the woding or anything else on my coins pages, just ask me and you can use it too... Now lets get out there and find a cure for this disease!!!
  11. My favorite is the Dark Side of the Cache geocoin. The one that I have was given to me by my daughter for fathers day a couple of years ago and is my absolute favorite geocoin. My second choice would have to be my Naughty Lump of Coal Earth Turtle geocoin that I won from Tsun!!!
  12. Here are a couple of wraps that DJ.J did for me and Johnslady56...
  13. Thank you!!! Yes, congratulations!! The final 4 took so long to dwindle to the final 2, I thought the game would last a LOT longer. Very exciting to watch. Since I was unable to attend GCF this year, I missed out on the tournament... Who took third, second and first places???
  14. Is it the Mystery Wishing Coin??? Due to my terrible artistic skills I have only sat back and watched this thread, because I am hoping I DON'T get it right and have to try and draw one myself....

  18. Send me an email via my profile page with your sons name and address and I will send him out a coin or two to help get his collection started.... And as Droo said, be careful, this aspect of geocaching can end up costing a whole lot of moolah....
  19. Email sent.. I saw the rule about the postmark being in August, will it be disqualified if it is postmarked in July??? After the cointest is over, can you post pictures of all the post cards you receive? Or at least a list of all the locations you received post cards from.... Thanks for a great cointest and for the opportunity to maybe score a tranquility coin for my collection...
