  1. This one was part of a tram line and was quite big and heavy: Rillenschiene
  2. I would just like to add my thanks for the video. I thought that music was brilliant, I wondered where you had got it from before I realised it was home grown!
  3. I'd just like to add my thanks, Brian. Also thanks for the reminder emails which I did need occasionally! I can really imagine how much work was involved every month in sorting through all that data.
  4. Congratulations Alan on an amazing achievement. 73 de G8AYC
  5. ROTFLMAO! Well some people have been dissappointed when they find one of my caches and the souvenir finders cards have run out. I like getting a souvenir of a cache I've visited, especially if it's one that I really needed to work for .
  6. There was a cache just made live near me so thought I would go and find it. No problems, found it easily enough. There were some finders cards in the cache, kept together with a rubber band. I took one of the finders cards, re-hid the cache and came home. When I sorted out my caching bag, to my horror I had accidentally taken all the finders cards! I was concerned because it was a new cache so there was a chance that someone else might go looking for it and miss out on the finders cards. Luckily the cache was only a couple of miles from home, so I quickly returned and replaced the cards. I looked in the logbook, but luckily no-one else had visited. I'm glad I did this with a local cache and not one many miles away!
  7. Are the hammer and first aid kit connected???
  8. Well my name (Nigel) hasn't been mentioned yet, I wonder if there's any more?
  9. If I take a TB out of a cache, I will try to leave one in its place if I have any with me. This is in case someone else might do that cache later and be expecting to find a TB. They might not get the TB that they were looking for, but at least there is something to pick up.
  10. Sounds a good idea Milton - I'd be interested for one. I would as well Please. OK you have all twisted my arm I will set about it soon, just getting some software to take some screen shots of the PDA so that it looks professional Milton (aka Moote) I'd like to express an interest too! Thanks in advance Milton.
  11. I can vouch for OS GPS convertor, it was just what I was looking for, for ages, and you can't beat the price . Thanks BandMandAandA.
  12. I was on holiday when this question was asked, does that mean I don't have to answer? Oh, ok, well I'm 54 right now, but my birthday's coming up in August.
  13. Well done Alison! I go away for a few days and look what happens! I must be more careful next time
  14. I get that too! Annoying, isn't it? Not had time to delve into it - but the theory about auto-checking for mail might be worth a look... I don't use it for email and have never set it up for such. I'm wondering if Active Sync has got anything to do with it. I will check when I get home tonight.
  15. Yes, I tried that and it's still the same.
  16. Well that's the thing, I don't have any networky thing plugged in. I have a CF GPS module that's all, so why is it trying to connect to something? It appears to have Active Sync running as a task, but it won't let me stop that, even though it isn't plugged into my PC.
  17. How do I stop the message coming up saying "Cannot Connect" and "Unable to connect: You have no modem entries created, and no network card present." ? I am sure the answer will be obvious but I don't play with this beasty much.
  18. Aint that typical - a cow-muggle standing right where the cache is!
  19. My dad worked on a farm in Canada when he was in his teens. He knew someone there that didn't like to swear using the normal swear words, so he made his own up. Well they tended to be swear phrases. One of them was "Dog gassed us" and I guess you can see how my nick was derived. It sure is a good one to use when signing up to online stuff - now don't go pinching it!
  20. I have a TB in circulation with the invitation to take a picture of it alongside something the cacher has made themselves. I said that it could mean anything from a cup of tea to a house. I thought this would encourage people to take a photo, maybe even something they are proud of. I have been quite pleased with the results so far, with submissions as diverse as: a Sunday roast, a greenhouse, a pond, a barbeque, a mess (after decorating!) and a fireplace.
  21. Thanks for that. Looks like some pioneering stuff going on. I hope it's successful. Looks like it will be a few years before a operational constellation. Time to save uo for that new GPSr.
  22. I do enjoy doing puzzle caches, and the couple I have hidden seem to be quite popular (see them from my profile if you want to see the details). I think it makes the cache interesting if there are intermediate puzzles to solve. Bear in mind that this style will probably reduce the number of visitors a bit. This is, obviously, because they might have travelled a long way to do the cache. Travelling a long way once might be acceptable to people, but having to travel a long way more than once might put people off. My personal preference is to have a puzzle that has to be solved before you set out and then you find the cache. Another style I like is where you have puzzles in caches, but they take the form that are solvable with a little bit of thought without having to return home.
