  1. I have set up a series of zones. I only want one zone active at a time. When the player goes to the active zone and answers a question correctly, I make the current zone inactive (and invisible) and make the next zone active and visible. However, the new zone doesn't become active till the player has exited the current zone. That is, the emulator shows "nothing to do" until the player is moved outside the (now inactive) zone. Is this me not understanding where to place commands or a bug? The other thing I get on the emulator is that sometimes I lose control of the little man. He makes big jumps when I get the mouse cursor near him and I can never get the mouse cursor to change to an arrow. This happens at random times during a simulation. Sometimes it's always fine, sometimes I get halfway through a simulation and it suddenly starts this behaviour.
  2. It runs fine on my old iPaq H2210 PDA with an external Bluetooth GPS receiver
  3. Am I right in thinking that numeric variables can only go up to 100? If so, that's a bit restrictive. It would be more useful if it could go up to 4 digits so that at least we could ask the user for dates. There don't seem to be any built in functions for strings, so you're stuck whichever way you want it. I've tried adding those hex routines, but every time I bring the modified file back into the Builder, it crashes and trashes the file.
  4. I can only see increment and decrement a variable functions in the Builder. Are there plans to add more functions? I know it is possible to add extra functions by editing the lua file, but it would be much nicer if it was possible to do this from within Builder.
  5. I saw that complaint in another forum and remembering how I couldn't believe such an attitude to your act of kindness. I know I would have been very grateful if someone had replaced an ailing cache of mine.
  6. I lose enthusiasm when I have a DNF and question "what on earth am I doing?" This soon gets put right on my next find
  7. If Dogastus isn't borrowing your map of IOM could we borrow it? We'll be going there at the beginning of March. Thanks! Lisa Thanks for the offer of the map, markandlynn. I'm not going till June, so go ahead Lisa. Thank you for the info, Happy Humphrey. I was basing my comments on Mapsource Topo maps, but see they do have IOM on their Metroguide; in fact I have it here at home . Am I right in assuming that they don't do Topo? It doesn't seem to be on my version here, anyway. I find it amazing that TomTom doesn't do IOM when they do the rest of Europe!
  8. That should provoke some jokers I'm sure! The reason for the question is that I was surprised that my TomTom 5 maps didn't include the Isle of Man. I emailed TomTom as I assumed that a newer version with updated maps would be required. I was even more surprised that they said they don't do the Isle of Man! OK, I thought I'd try Garmin so checked on their website for Mapsource coverage. Again a surprise - they don't do the Isle of Man either! So, are old-fashioned paper maps the only way to navigate around the roads of the Isle of Man?
  9. Hey, that's a great technique. From my reputation for complete absent mindedness I could easily pull it off
  10. I bought a Holox BT-441 from an Ebay seller and I'm amazed at it's performance. I normally use it hidden away in the glove compartment of my car. The cold start and warm start times are extremely short. I couldn't imagine a better unit than this.
  11. Try sending your broken Etrex back to Garmin - they often repair their stuff for nothing, even when it's outside of the guarantee period.
  12. Sorry, Bren, didn't see your previous message. Dick (Daisy&Me) M3POQ and myself were on last night on S19 from 22:00 till about 22:20, we did put out a call for you so not sure how you missed us. Happy Christmas and Good DX to all geocaching radio amateurs
  13. I thought I would drag this thread to the top, screaming no doubt, to say that Dick (Daisy&Me - M3POQ) and myself (dogastus - G8AYC) will be on S19 (145.475 Mhz) from 22:00 this Thursday 14th. I might be monitoring earlier than this, and if there is another QSO going on, we will QSY down. 73, Nigel.
  14. I got a 60CSX a few months ago and I've been really impressed with it. It's ability to pick up satellites inside buildings is quite astonishing, and it has never lost lock under tree cover. It can display topo maps from Map Source (costs extra of course), which is great for making sure you're the right side of the river etc! They are quite expensive, but I bought one through that well known auction site from a reputable dealer. It did go wrong a couple of weeks after getting it, but I sent it back to Garmin UK who sent me a brand new replacement despite it being a US sourced model.
  15. Everything that Kewfriend said. Furthermore, the subscription is a fraction of what I pay for petrol to get to these caches!
  16. I've seen all good people from the Yes Album by Yes: "I've seen all good people turn their heads each day so satisfied I'm on my way." The Return Of The Giant Hogweed by Genesis
  17. That rather blows the "Keep a low profile to avoid being noticed by muggles" approach
  18. What on earth is CBA ????? I thought you liked puzzles. I reckon it's "Couldn't Be A**ed"
  19. Thank you for the continuing responses, looks like there are, indeed, quite a few Geocaching Radio Amateurs aound. Tonight, I will take a listen on GB3VA 145.700 MHz from about 20:30. This is the Aylesbuy Vale repeater and surely must be within range of some Radio Geocachers being in the centre of a Geocaching hotspot!
  20. Hey, sorry Bren, didn't mean to exclude you. I'm just trying different frequencies to see who can do what. One possibility is if we found a repeater which had Echolink access (as mentioned by Mr Dewdrop), people out of RF range could take part too.
  21. I've done all the ones in Gibraltar Sorry Nigel - you had done until another one was placed on 2nd September, unfortunately! Incidentally i was the first to have done all 5 when i was FTF on the 5th one placed in April 2005. I no longer go out regularly as i used to so I havent been able do the latest one - not too worried about that as its a puzzle, i'm no good at puzzles!! I knew I should have checked before I made such a rash claim! Incidentally, while we were there we did find a couple of nice restaurants amongst the rather mediocre ones. Funnily enough they were almost opposite each other.
  22. --> QUOTE(Old B @ Dec 1 2006, 01:04 AM) 2592972[/snapback] We have just booked for Mauritius for next March. According to Google Earth there are only a few caches there so with a bit of luck we will be able to do ALL the caches in the country. (I think that would take some time in the UK) Has any one else done all the caches in one country? Gordon I've done all the ones in Gibraltar
  23. Just to let you know, I'm going to start monitoring SU20 (433.5 MHz) on 70cms whenever I am in the shack. So if you happen to be withing range of Newbury, try giving a call. Also Dick M3POQ (Daisy&Me) and I are going to have a regular sched on that frequency every Thursday at 22:00, so feel free to join in then.
  24. The two "Enigma Variations" caches by The Hole In The Wall gang require a lot of problem solving while in the field.
