  1. What do you mean more detail? Are there more back roads in the older version versus the 2008 one? I tried to compare the two online and they show similar roads, etc. I couldn't find much difference. I'm sure that changes when using it on the gps.
  2. Right on the money FiveNines! I wish this was in the manual as this stuff can get confusing when trying to figure it out. Thanks!
  3. So we could buy TOPO 2008 and install it on our computers/gps and then sell it to someone else since it is unlocked?
  4. I found it by doing some searching on another forum. I can't believe I didn't try this earlier. Here is how you can hide all Navigator/Metroguide/Topo mapsets as a whole and not going through each mapset individually: Main Menu, Setup, Map, Map Setup Information, then press Menu button. There should be options to Show/Hide each map set. From the map page: Menu button, Set up Map, Map Setup Information, then press Menu button.

  6. Thanks for the response. I've found the map setup page and it lists all my individual maps that are loaded. I haven't found any option that allows me to turn off all of Metroguide maps with one click. I only found the option where I have to scroll through all my Metroguide maps individually in order to hide them and see Topo. This is time consuming scrolling through all my Metroguide maps in order to find and then hide one. Anyone else know?
  7. Hey guys! I have a question regarding switching b/t different mapsets on my Vista. I did a search and the answers were vague so I thought I would ask for clarification. I have both Metroguide and Topo mapsets installed on my Vista. It is my understanding that I can switch b/t the mapsets as a whole...ie hide all Metroguide's maps with one click or all TOPO maps. I have found the section where I can select to show or hide individual maps. However, it is time consuming to have to go through all the maps and select/deselect the ones I need or don't need. I have the entire Eastern US in Topo and Metroguide uploaded to one SD card. There has got to be an easier way to switch mapsets, but I have yet to find it. I was thinking I could use two SD cards and switch mapsets by swapping the cards, but I figured I would ask y'all before I pulled the trigger on a new SD card. Can someone walk me through the process? Thanks guys.

  9. New member here. I've learned a lot by reading y'alls posts. I bought my Garmin Vista mainly for river fishing, but I think I may have to try some Geo caching. It sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for all the great information on this site.
  10. I recently bought Topo 2008 and Metroguide V. 8 for $140 total. Is this a good deal? I can still cancel my order if I can purchase them elsewhere. Thanks.
