  1. I think, an adjustable setting of the maximum distance within new caches are listed in the newsletter would be the best way to solve the problem. Perhaps, GS has shortened the contents of the newsletter to get more performance from the mail system. Sometimes the newsletter arrived about 24 hrs later than it was created. But it is not important if the newsletter comes a few hours later. I used to read it on the next day or two days later to get information of caches far away, possibly worth a visit during a longer trip. But only 20 caches from the home coordinates is useless. Yyou can see them just looking on the map...
  2. So, Groundspeak made a site update at 5/14/2013 and updated the weekly mailer. This morning, the weekly mailer arrived showing only events dated on May, 15th. Other events were not listed. The list of recently published caches has also been cutted of. Only a few caches within about 35km around the home coords were listed. 3. Yesterday, I received the actual weekly mailer and there was no change. A few events listed far far away (about 150 - 250 km). New Caches were listed only about 20 - 40 km from my home coordinates and many of the new published ones I received a notification mailer were missing. So, the mailer is completely useless for me. The only solution I see, is to enhance my notification radius to get new published caches as soon as they were published. If Groundspeak has planned to take load from their Mailsystem by sending smaller Newsletters it will not help. If all PM's enlarge their notification radius the load on the Mailsystem will increase a lot. Please give us back the old weekly mailer.
  4. But why is there only a short list in the weekly mailer containing only new caches within a distance of a few miles? I use notifications to get new caches nearby and used the weekly mailer with a list of the new caches within 70 to 80 km around to find new potentially interesting caches for planning tours. With the new "short" list you have to search manually and for this you spend a lot of time reading listings. Until now, the "long" list of new caches gave me a quick look for interesting new caches around. Will there be a way to set up a parameter for the mailer to get a list f. e. of new caches within 100km around? Events more than 100km away from my home coordinates are not interesting for me, but the event list showed a lot of them. Regards Thomas
  5. Hello, I received the weekly mailer just about 20min ago. It was very short comparing with those I got before the update. The Eventlist is very short and new caches are only listed within abot 40km form my home coordinates. Is this an error in generating the mailer or were those parameters configured new?
  6. Hello, since the last site update on Dec., 6th I got the follwing problem: when I click on the links in the cache description to view a (Spoiler-)Picture they are only displayed in the size of a small stamp. Changing the word "display" to "cache" in the URL of the Link shows the picture in a larger size. Can you fix it please. By viewing the pictures in a small size, lots of details are lost. And for pictures you need for solving Mystery Caches it is difficult to read text in the picture itself. As a workaround, you can copy the URL and change "display" to "cache" and the picture is displayed larger but it no way for all times to get larger pics. Or is there a way to set an option in the User Profile to get larger pics? Regards HJS
  7. Oh, it has been posted many many times since yesterday, but I have also give my vote to: - Bring back the old look of the cache logs (no pics, cause traffic on mobiles and show again the log dates!) - What the hell are these challenges. Find a geocache and complete a challenge - thats awful!!!!! If you bring up the challenges, why have you disabled the Virtuals? Please bring back the logdates, or put an option to the user profiles where everyone can choose if he wants to see the pictures and in which way he wants to see the logdates.
  8. Thanks for the replies on my "problem". So according to Earthas statement, I was mistaken about the banned accounts. For me, I will test a few coins to send them out as proxy, keeping the originals in my hands. But I will send only one proxy out, if this gets lost, the coin can only been discovered when someone meets me. I think this will help. But I will not put an electric wire trap to catch the thief, there are more painful alternatives, like bear traps or so (;-).
  9. Hello, the last few month, I realized that someone goes to caches around my home coordinates, takes Geocoins out of them without logging them and without putting them in another cache. I sometimes revisit some caches to discover the geocoins they are holding to get the Icon in my Profile Page. Sometimes, if the mission of the Coin or TB fits with my cache planning, I also take a TB or GC out to help it on its mission. A few month ago, geocoins are beginning to vanish from the caches they are logged in. I think it is not related to new cachers who do not know about Trackables. A coin is dropped into a cache and a few days later it is gone. No entry in the logbook was made and the cache wasn't muggled. None of the Coins reappeared in an other cache. TBs and TravelExpress Coins f.Ex. are not affected, only GCs. Some other cachers reported similar issues on their tours. The Phenomenon is located a few miles around my home coordinates, dropping TBs and GCs about 30km off my home koords and they are safe. I planned to set off a few new coins myself but I do not want to loose them in the first days. So I planned to send only a copy of them (which were not stolen) and keep the original. Each coin will be sent as a copy one time, if this copy gets lost, the original coin can be discovered in my collection but no other copy will be sent. I want to ask if it is OK, that I send one copy while keeping the original coin. I heard that a few accounts have been banned because they were sending copies of their coin.
  10. Hello, I realized that there are some guy out there which "collect" coins which should travel around. I often revisit a few cache near my home coordinates just to take a photo of the coins and discover it to get the icon, but leaving it in the cache for the next cacher. Sometimes I take a coin if its mission fits with my caching plans. But in the last few months, coins are vanishing from the caches without being logged. A few times I came to a cache with a freshly dropped coin and it was gone. No log entry since the coin drop was made, so cachers on vacation who log a few days later did not take the coin. A few cachers nearby logged those issues, too. I think this phenomenon is not because of newbies who did not know about the coins. None of the coins reappeared in the meantime in another cache. So, I came to the conclusion, that someone visits the cache, takes the coins out with out logging them and adds them to his personal "collection". I want to send off a few new coins, but I think about sending only a copy of them, keeping the original. If the copy gets lost, no second copy will be made, but the coin can be discoverd on events or so. What do you think about sending a copy one time?
