  1. I have finally got Wherigo running on my Navman Pin 570... After some difficulties: First install .NET CF 1.0 SP3 Redist. This will go on fine using the standard installer/active synch Second, download and install .NET CF 2.0 SP2 Redist. This will install on your PC but the Navman will inform you that it does not support this package. To get round this, select the CAB file that is now on your PC: NETCFv2.wce4.ARMV4.cab and manually copy it to the Navman. Third, find the CAB file on the Navman and run it directly from the device. It will inform you that it is for a different version. Install it anyway. Fourth, download and install Wherigo... click... go play! Hope that helps.
  2. I love TB's and think that they are a great idea... however, i agree with Paul in that they dissapear and people don't necesarily do what is asked of them. My bug has a specific goal but was taken to holland and was stuck there for months as people didn't read the goals and just moved it round and round holland. Somewhat annoying, so let them go and forget about them!
  3. Yeah... not been having much luck getting on there!
  4. Just noticed on the GC.com site that they use FRS/PMR channel 2. Do we do the same over here???? I've had portable radios for years from exploring the countryside but never even thought of using one while caching.... Do any cachers use radios while out caching?
  5. I have also discovered that there are two "London Bus" TB's... In the same cache... Coincidence or what?
  6. Sadly (or not, depending on your perspective), this cacher does not have the TB and assures me that she has a nice shiny London Bus! TB that is! Oh well... as you all say, it may turn up eventually! But yes...
  7. Not a bad idea Stuey, however, there's not a lot to say the same won't happen again! As you can tell I am mighty pi**ed that this has happened to me again! Oh and I concede the point about holidays etc... what's a holiday again?
  8. Now what is the point in that? I love logging caches as soon as i find them! Isn't that the whole point of having a logging system in the first place? Or am I mistaken?
  9. Thanks everyone! As for the description, it is a TB dog tag attached to a keyring which reads "little muffin travel bug" on one side and has a picture of a muffin with a heart in the middle on the other. Pyoung1s... I had thought of that and have emailed the relevant parties who had gone to the cache after you... only one reply as yet! As for giving up caching this is one in a long line of similar incidents which have slowly annoyed me more each time. Unfortunately the time it takes to chase people and the fact that you end up being told you are abusing email priveliges/harassing people makes it even worse! I probably won't give up as I am off on a RTW trip next week and will cache in some lovely tropical locations! Shame... because the idea was to see if the TB's could get to their target destinations before me!
  10. Well once again our travel bug has gone missing! http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=32096 The details of the bug can be found at the link above... What I can't understand is why people bother to cache and take TB's when they cannot be bothered to log their finds?!?!? I spent a long time tracking the last person that did this and as a result of which received a warning from GC.com... apparently i was harassing the individual! Well... all I can say is that I will not be bothering with TB's in the future and to be honest I'm so annoyed that at present I can't even be bothered to cache! The bug was last seen here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...bc-2122f7b5d878 If anyone knows who has it or even has it in their possesion please log it and release it!
  11. I have had one for a couple of years and it has served me well! The barometric altimeter is fun but is really just a toy (seeing as MM gives me all the elevation data/profiles i need), the digital compass is great but I find that it can get a bit fussy about being held level. All in all it's been great and i'm sure that i seriously underuse all of its features regards TRB PS.. I know of an excellent store that supply the Summit at a very competitive price - message me if you want to know more (i understand that one shouldn't advertise on here!)
  12. OK UK Cachers... if ten COUNTIES visited in one day of caching is a new record... what is the UK record for CACHES found in one day?? I'd be interested to know!
  13. I have spent the afternoon planning out an epic "multicache" with a series of location based clues leading to a final cache... sound familiar? Now... there is only one cache, the other points in the trail are just that... points in the trail! Do I follow other cachers leads and call this a multicache or is this better described as a mystery cache? Answers on a postcard please!
  14. Does anybody know where i can get memory map compatible maps of Nepal and SouthEast Asia?
  15. Thanks for everyone's words of wisdom! Slytherin... Yes you are correct there is enough info and yes i do know his name and also where he lives, but then there is a certain degree of legality to debate about using this information! As for naming and shaming... well you've all done that for me! Chris&MaryB... Yes i tried that email address in the beginning but it just constantly bounces! Interestingly... this user picked up this bug and then couldn't be bothered to answer any emails regarding it's whereabouts, however, they COULD be bothered to log onto the site (so now i know they're still active!) and complain to Groundspeak for multiple emailing! I have to say that giving up a bug that has travelled ZERO miles is a little disappointing... i do know where his TB is though... now there's a thought
  16. Just want to send my sympathies as I am having similar trouble getting a user to drop a bug he's had for 6 months or more.... this sort of thing really get's my goat!
  17. Hi all, I have a dilemma... a user (who for now shall remain nameless) picked up our TB around christmas and has failed to place it. There have been no courtesy emails and now i have resorted to emailing the user but receive no replies! What would all you seasoned geocachers do in a situation like this?
  18. Hooray! Little Muffin TB has shown up! Many thanks to all!
  19. Many thanks folks! If i get a chance i'll pop up to north wales and have a hunt myself! Thanks once again! TRB (AM!)
  20. Can anyone help? Our TB "little muffin" seems to have got lost! We released it in Strait down the middle by Grynneman whilst walking in north wales last year and according to the only logged visitor since us (thanks wild trekker!) has vanished! If anyone comes across little muffin could they email me to let me know where she is or update the TB pages? Many thanks TRB (AM!)
  21. just an extra note... this is what Auntie has to say: So if you have any better luck let me know! TRB (AM!)
  22. Had no idea that there had been one... but would be very interested to see it myself! might try the BBC Regards TRB (AM!)
  23. I actually think that most landowners, once they have had GC explained to them, think it is really great idea. I recently visited a cache on Somerset Wildlife Trust land and when i got there discovered that SWT had found it whilst clearing the area of dead wood. Once they had investigated what it was all about, they wrote in the logbook that they were very keen for it to stay there and suggested that perhaps the cache owner might become a member or make a donation. In fact it seems that the wardens make regular visits to the cache and keep an eye on it! Obviously the cache owner should have asked first... but it just goes to show that geocaching has a really good reputation! Anyway, cheers Dave for keeping up the geocaching name and all that hard work!
