  1. Hey check this out: Patrick's Waterfall #3 GCKGF5 February 22 by rwalker46940 (603 found) decided to try this one out today, since it has not been found in 3 years. at first i was hesitating to go for it or not since has not been logged since 07, some dnf's that they didn't want to show, or the water got to it. started on the trails then took shortcut through 2 revines then slid halfway down the famous "hill". got up perfectally fine then i was at the coords. i looked over and YES THERE IT IS, I DON'T F------ BELIEVE IT! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hurried over to the container which i ran through the terrain and opened it up and ahhhhhhh! the smell of the trapped dead air. container was in excellent condition along with the dry log. signed log, left a george washington, took nothing and put it back where i found it. your awsome 6 dog team. nice view of the river. once again. thanxs. View This Log May 25, 2007 by Are_we_there_yet? (814 found) WOW, what a hike! What started as parking the car .27 miles from the cache, turned into a 1.5 mile extreme adventure. We almost had given up trying to find the waterfall as we missed the main trail down to them due to a monster pile of limbs that had been placed in front of the trail from the DNR cleaning up the main trails. We went down the ravine about .10 mile back and passed 3 waterfalls total, also had to manage our way around an extremely large downed tree that was lying down over the gaming trail. Found the cache and everything was soaked inside. We CITO'd the contents that were in need of being discarded, and added some swag that we had with us. What a workout.....whew! Thanks for the cache!!!
  2. I've never seen anything, ever, in the listing guidelines about "walking distance". Ever. I've never seen anything about barriers or topography either, but a lot of people seem to be able to find that language. Not in the current version, not in older or the next older or the next older versions. That seems to be apocryphal. You're missing the point. Legal Language aside, provisions have been made in the past, in various instances, to allow caches to be placed less than 528.6756 feet apart when a normally impassable barrier exists between them--40 feet might be streaching it a bit, however. Reviewers interpret the guidelines differently sometimes--you have to respect your approver's point of view.
  3. Congratulations to rwalker46940 who found their #600 cache on our hard terrain puzzle that's only been found 11 times in six years: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...e7-d937bc44d5b6
  4. Geocaching takes us to some pretty neat places we never knew existed!!
  5. Nobody reads these forums. so nobody will help you. I suggest you just look on the maps for parks and caches. Or go to a more popular forum--Midwest has a lot of activity.
  6. When I was younger I liked the bushwacks, but now I like groomed rails, shady trails with views of the river... I got a new hiking stick for xmas, made in Vietnam, It works really well. Cache on!!
  7. We like to hunt reg caches in the woods, not so much nanos in the city. I wish more finders would give back by hiding more.
  8. my pieve is speelling words wrongly.
  9. peanut butter jars rule. Cachers can be taught, with practice, to screw them on properly and with experience, tightly.
  10. we like geocaching in the woods better than in parking lots...
  11. I wish I had a nickle for every long arduous hellacous bushwack I've completed only to find myself back on the trail which looped around on me!! It's part of the deal!
  12. I don't get this. We didn't expect to win, but we expected to do a little better than #31, considering we were Geocacher of the year in 2003 and 2007...
  13. If the cache has been found, and nobody logs it, it is the CO's duty to report the fact. That's just the fair thing to do. Seekers should be made aware so they do not attempt to be FTF only to be thwarted by a lack of information. If I mounted a search for a five star terrain cache that hadn't been found yet in four or five months and found the log signed, I would be REALLY ticked off at the owner for not alerting folks to the fact that it had been found, if he was aware of the fact. !!! You should post a note NOW!!!!
  14. If you are really Ken Jennings, you should be able to answer this: CATEGORY: MOVIE DENIZENS OF THE DEEP QUESTION: The boat on the Amazon in CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON
  15. You're making LOTS of friends in the reviewer ranks. I guess you don't want to have any other caches published on this site? Mushtang's implication that Roddy will now be retaliated against by reviewers is highly offensive to us. We have had a fair number of caches approved and have always found the reviewers to be FAIR, FIRM, AND FRIENDLY. We don't always agree with TPTB, being rogue troublemakers ourselves, but we have nothing but the utmost respect for the unpaid reviewers that we've had dealings with. To suggest that they would mount a vendetta against Roddy for speaking his mind, without any evidence that they would, is just not right. Other cachers, yes for sure, we've endured their unbridled cowardly hatred ; Reviewers, no. If Mushtang's comment was meant to be a joke, it sure wasn't funny to us. If TPTB choose not to enlighten us on their side of this controversy, I'm sure they have their reasons...guess we won't ever know for sure.
  16. We consider ourselves lucky if we an find our own hides within 30 feet of their original placement!
