  1. Instead of this I would prefer an "ignore list" that would allow me to specify caches that I am not interested in to be excluded from nearest cache lists, maps, PQs... But that's off-topic here so I am going to kick my own butt now for posting OT
  2. I doubt that our friends on the island will agree with you
  3. Charging users for providing content is not the best idea if you want to keep a web service alive
  4. Whenever you do geocaching abroad you first have to find caches with a description in one of the languages that you understand. Many caches in europe have descriptions in two languages (usually in the national language and in English), but that is not mandatory. There is currently no way to find those caches other than looking up each cache description in your area of interest one by one. I suggest to add language attributes to the cache descriptions that allow, for example, to search for caches in France with descriptions in English. What do you think?
  5. I second this request. I'd like to be able to toggle my finds on or off, rather than checkmarking them. Yes, please!
  6. To me the most interesting aspect of a good cache is not the box or its contents but the place where it is located and where I would probably never go if I would not hunt for caches. You can't steal such a place. Is it such a tragedy if a plastic box with, lets face it, a lot of rubbish in it is stolen? If a cache is stolen and you know everyone who knows the co-ordinates you would still not be able to tell who has stolen it. There would be dozens of people who looked up the co-ordinates in preparation and who consequently have not logged a find. What if someone had looged his find in the past and returns to the cache to destroy it a few weeks later? What if he logs a not-found and takes the cache immediately or later? And if you put a 24/7 infrared surveillance camera near the cache someone will come to the place disguised with a rubber George W. mask to take the cache AND the camera...
  7. "creating a new business model to have cachers pay while sticking to the principle of "free" caching" What a great example for "Doublethink" in action (see "1984" by George Orwell)
  8. Same for me. And the checkboxes do not show up on the caches that I have already found
  9. I like the new maps! I just looked at the area around my hometown here in Germany. Okay, there is not much detail (but more than I expected!) and the data is rather old (showing a railway that has ceased to exists a decade or so ago) but that is much, MUCH better than the grey nothing we see today. As far as I am concerned I am pleased if the map shows major cities, highways, rivers and coastlines just to give me an idea where the caches are. I only use the online maps to plan where I go next but not as a reference when I am in the fields. That's where my MapSource or Topo maps come in and I would never expect an online map to be that detailed and accurate. Did I mention that I like the new maps? For now I just wished I could see those little red checkmarks that should mark the caches I found or own. That was my major reason for upgrading to premium membership but now it seems this feature doesn't work at all .
