  1. Congrats!! Welcome to the obsession. Where was it?
  2. Sorry to hear about your experience. You're braver than I am. I wouldn't go after a cache in that park.I remember going after a few caches in secluded sections of Central Park and always looking over my shoulder. The main thing is that you are ok and won't let this stop you from caching.
  3. I'd definatley do a cache like that. I'm still looking for one that requires an overnight stay.Something like ten miles in ten miles out.
  4. The first 100 are the toughest, way to go!
  5. Congrats Brian!! The Obi Wan of North Jersey caching.
  6. I have to agree with the autumnal equinox/ Wiccan theory. In my travels in the woods I've seen my share of makeshift altars, hanging chicken bones and stone pentagram circles. Its more common than you think.
  7. There's one in my Adults only cache along the Palisades.
  8. How do I go about adopting one of Bills caches? The one I have in mind is Alpine Overlook in New Jersey. Its my fist find and along the Palisades where all my caches are located. I would have no problem keeping this long time cache active.
  9. Done. Didn't like hitting the 36 to 50 button for age though.
  10. Thanks guys.I'm not that concerned about my stats.I was just wondering what cache it was and was it supposed to be there. Thanks for clearing things up.
  11. On my way back from finding "Wishing it Was Pilatus Kulm"cache in Allamuchy park.Just off the green trail I saw a large plastic jug with a blue lid sitting out in the open.My curiosity got the best of me so I went over to see what it was.Sure enough when I opened it up there was the logbook and some Halloween related items along with an orange safety vest still in the package in the cache.Flipped through the log book and saw the usual names but no mention of the caches name.I think the last entry was in March. I didn't spend as much time as I should have investigating this cache as I was fleeing gunshots(see my log for Pilatus Kulm for details) I did save the coordinates they are N40.57.523 W 074.44.371 I stuffed the cache in a log which seemed like where it should be. I've looked up nearby caches and nothing matches this spot.Maybe I've missed something. Hope someone can identify this one for me.
  12. Some of my earliest finds were Big Bill caches. My condolences to his family.
  13. I have a Meridian also. I've found that if you switch to the lattitude and longetude screen and match up the numbers with the cache page, you should end up right on top of the site. This is allowing for error on the part of the placer. Hope this helps.
  14. I've found that if I just follow the numbers and match up the coords I'm usually right on top of it.I've never downloaded a waypoint. Sometimes though the cache hiders coords are off due to not letting the gps "settle down" and get the right coords.Sometimes my gps is off because I don't wait for it to settle. Also don't overthink things. Its usually in the obvious spot. Welcome and hope I've helped.
  15. There's also the science prodject cache along the hudson river. How its flowing depends on recent rainfall.
  16. I'm pretty sure the gerbil cache is the oldest and its still active.I'm not sure if its the first though.Hope this helps.
