  1. If memory serves, I think you have to land on the Entering the Forum page for the updates to be transferred into the forum. Either that or logging out of the forum and then logging back in.

    I just don't remember which.

Try 'em both and if it doesn't work, maybe someone else knows the answer.

  2. Since I do not have a boat, canoe or surfboard and swim very poorly, I suspect the Liberty Bay Resort cache will be on my "to do list" or "ignore list" for a very long time. /\/**\/\

No one ever said you have to own a boat to retrieve this cache. I know of at least one place in downtown Poulsbo where you can rent a boat. Better yet, if you find someone through this thread that is going, you can help paddle!

There's hope yet to get this on your "found list."

  3. This sounds like fun we'll see what we are doing on the forth not sure yet. But we have been thinking about putting the canoe in the water and trying this one for awhile, might be the right time.

Just to confirm: It is officially for the 3rd of July. It appears that there is great tide weather for the 4th as well. There will likely be people ashore on the 4th setting off fireworks, but the free burger offer will expire on the 3rd! :anitongue:

  4. Paddle your way onto Liberty Bay for the Independence Day holiday!

This is an open invitation for all cachers to come and hunt my cache, Liberty Bay Resort, in Poulsbo, WA on July 3rd, 2005. Then come ashore and take a load off before heading back out on the water. There'll be a party going on there anyway so you might as well just join on in and get a burger while you're at it! :anitongue:

High tide for July 3rd is over 11 feet; plenty to retrieve the cache and make it to shore. You can also view a graph of the tides for July 3rd, 2005. Low tide that night is still plenty deep enough to retrieve the cache.

Feel free to stay ashore until the fireworks begin (around 10:30pm), but if you don't have lights on your boat, you may want to retreat back to your car before dusk.

    Details:

    • July 3rd, 2005.
    • Anytime from 4pm - 11pm.
    • Log Liberty Bay Resort cache. Be sure to visit this cache page as there is information about where to park and put your boat in the water.
    • Mingle with the local Corvette Club (also owns another local cache, Corvette 50th Birthday Cache).
    • Please RSVP by sending me an email and I'll make sure there's an extra hamburger and soda for you.
    • Stay for the fireworks (approximately 10:30pm).

Have a safe and happy holiday weekend everyone!

  5. What hotels are in the area?  And where is everyone else staying?

I promised a list of hotels, so I'm finally getting around to it. There are probably more, but these are pretty handy according to my copy of MapPoint:

    • Westcoast Silverdale Hotel
      3073 NW Bucklin Hill Rd
      Silverdale, WA 98383
      (360) 698-1000
    • Cimarron Motel
      9734 Silverdale Way NW
      Silverdale, WA 98383
      (360) 692-7777
    • Poplars Motel
      9800 Silverdale Way NW
      Silverdale, WA 98383
      (360) 692-6126
    • Bird's Eye View Bed &Breakfast
      8226 Kaster Dr NE
      Bremerton, WA 98311
      (360) 698-2448
    • Continental Inn
      1783 SR-308
      Poulsbo, WA 98370
      (360) 779-5575

There are many more in Poulsbo or further south in Bremerton, but these seemed close to the start. Plus, if anyone is looking for a freebie, there are a few offers of lawn space above!

  6. I'll be commuting from my home in Lakewood, so I won't need a motel for this one. Other cachers will, though. What's decent and cheap in the area, if someone wants something other than a tent in Belleterre's yard?

A tent in my yard! :)

Silverdale is going to be the best bet as that's where the start is. I'll see if I can scratch together a list of places to stay (where you pay) unless someone else beats me to the punch.

  7. Looks pretty cool! One traffic revision note:

6:05 AM 21.2 mi Turn LEFT (North-East) onto NE Gluds Pond St [NE

Gluds Pond Rd] for 0.1 mi

6:06 AM 21.3 mi Turn LEFT (North) onto Brownsville Hwy NE for 0.7

    mi

Where Gluds Pond meets Brownsville Hwy has been blocked off. You will need to direct traffic further down Wagga way to where Brownsville Hwy meets (at the light).

  8. A SUPER Congratulations to your family! Things will never be the same, but you won't want it any other way.

So, how do you like the pull out couches? Not too bad, eh? It's been 19 months since I was sleeping there! ;)

  9. Here is a rough image idea from one of the St Helen's pic posted before. This would work best if pressed or cut from just the coin material with no color. Yes, I put the hiker in there, as it was meant to depict the mountain today, and having just the mountain would make it rather plain. IMHO. But, I am just your faithful servant. :)

    ws2005-6.jpg

    That's pretty sweet!

Any way you can do a half/half of a before/after? Sorta like 1980 on one half and on the other half 2005? I'm just curious, but anything with Mt. St. Helens in it gets my vote.

  10. Ah PDX don't be sour, remember you live in another state.  Just sending some smack, don't take it personally.  You won't be disappointed though.  Peace, Nolenator

Sour all you want! :D I'm in the state and I'm still waiting!

PS. I'm still patient. Take all the time y'all need to get the job done.

PP.S. Any news on the "lotto" results? Who got low numbers? How many orders? Something to pass the time...

  11. Deja vu! Not sayin a thing this time

Except that.......I will warn PBD about the potential linch mob hiding behind their fake "finds". Be careful where you tread here PBD, some folks have a lot of pride in their bogus stats. I've already taken their wrath for mentioning this.

PJ - just west of you a few hours.

    EDIT: for spelling, clumsey fingers!

I hope you aren't talking about me!

  12. Ok, I'm just majorly PC challenged. :anibad:

Where could I put the pics I want to use?

And.... when you say leave the height etc. out, do I leave the word out too? Sorry I'm so lame at this, but I really want to add some pics.

... and, yup! Leave the height= part off too if you don't want to provide it. If you aren't providing the height, you can probably leave off width= too!

Just don't be afraid to try something and see how it works. Just keep going back and tweaking it and you will get the hang of it. That's how 90% of us did!

    Good luck!

  13. The army of volunteers from moderators to the approvers who approve the MOC caches.

I actually never understood that. People volunteering to a for-profit company, serving company interests. Strange. In a normal world these people would be democratically elected by cachers, and they would represent the cachers' interests as opposed to some commercial listing service's interests.

Great. Now we are going to have to pay to get our cache listed! Just kidding.

Ya, know what? I do understand that. I'll help volunteer to support something this cool. All this bellyaching and whining against this company just makes me support it financially and voluntarily (were I to be asked).

Wake up, dude. This is the normal world. Cache volunteers are hand-picked from regional geocaching organizations who have proved their mettle; similarly for forum moderators. They do represent the cacher's interests and the commercial interests and not the interests of the vocal, and quite eloquent I might add, minority.

Crap. This has gone way off topic. ... uh... MOC's rule. Phew.

  14. Want to know why I've got a Member's Only Cache? Ask me. You can use this fantastic free feature to send me an email through the website. Lumping people into groups and trying reading people's mind as to why they have one is really annoying.

    Don't guess. Ask.

Oh, BTW, it's 90% traffic reduction, 6% feature for other members, 4% user tracking, and 0% elitism.

  15. Here's the basics. First, check the box that indicates that the content you are providing is in HTML. Second, enter the following to make an image appear on the page:

    <img src="URL" height="h" width="w" align="placement">

    Where

    • URL is the web address of the image you want to place on the site. You can right click many images on the internet or images you've uploaded to your profile and get their properties.
    • h is the height of the image. You can leave this out and the browser will determine the height of the image automatically.
    • w is the width of the image. You can leave this out and the browser will determine the width of the image automatically.
    • placement is the place on the page you want the image to appear. Common values are "left", "right", and "center". This is also optional.

You can see some image examples in my profile page.

    Good luck!

  16. Sure!

To start, go to the Track Travel Bugs page and in the upper right, enter the code found on the metal travel bug tag.

On the next page, be sure to indicate you got the travel bug out of the cache listed and fill out the form.

That's it! You will now see them in your inventory. When you log future caches, you will have an opportunity to drop them off by selecting them on the log page.

    Good luck!

  17. Thanks everyone for the replies. I have done it with one exception. I gave used web photos and successfully uploaded them to my cache pages. The only problem is I cannot get them to "center" on the page. I can get them to right align or left align but using align="center" doesn't center the photo on the page. To see the cache page go to GCKNGY. Thanks. :P

Scratch my "align=center" option. That didn't seem to work too well. Try this instead:

    <CENTER><img ...></CENTER>

BTW... I think the right alignment you are using is better anyway! ;)

  18. Someone should come along with a handy-dandy reference for a lot of HTML coding tricks.
