  1. Maeglin I loaded CacheMate 3.5 and loaded one pdb file onto my SD card. The Hot sync went as advertised and I was even able to change the icons which was really cool. Then I downloaded 5 more pdb files to my SD card and hot synced. When I started the CacheMat program, it would not recognize any of the 5 pdb files on the SD card. I then deleted all 5 and loaded just one file on to the SD card. CacheMate again would not recognize the file on the SD card. I tried turning off the Ique but did not help. It worked perfectly the first time but now I cnnot get it to recognize any of the pdb files loaded on to the SD card. Any suggestions? thanks. Let me add more info. I also tried removing the SD card and reinserting with no luck. I created a directory CacheMate and moved one file into that but that did not work either. Is there any way to force CacheMate to rescan manually?
  2. Also if you are using an external antenna, it is probably mounted onto some sort of metal holder. This metal increases the ground plane of the antenna making the antenna more efficient. The internal antenna does not have any ground plane. They say that if you use a metal frying pan under a Ique3600 one does not need an external antenna!!!
  3. Maeglin Just tried using CacheNav 1.0. Works great!!! no more erractic pointer. Thanks for now making R3 a useable commodity for us geocachers.
  4. Click on the house icon so that "All" is displayed in the upper right menu. Then click on the time display in the upper left of the menu next to the battery icon and then select Info. From the popup display at the bottom select Version and the Palm OS info will be displayed.
  5. Maeglin, Now that you have an iQue 3600, hopefully you can help the rest of us geocachers out. I just upgraded to the R3 release and was hoping the problems with distance not updating sequentially as one approaches the final location was due to program conflict but is not. The 3600 increments in steps of 100 feet until you get under 100 ft. distance then increments by 10 ft. R2 software the increment was very nice and sequential, a foot at a time. Now with R3 I was hoping that Cachnav would increment smoother but I found that the directional arrow bounces all around and reverses direction. Is this because you are using inputs from Garmin's updates? On R2 Cachnav worked superb. but now Garmin has made geocacing useless with R3. Can you Help US?
  6. If you are challenged just be sure to tell them that it is a completely passive device - does not transmit, receives only.
  7. I just used Cachenav for the first time and was quite pleased with it. Now I can delete Cetus. Your directional arrow is way more stable than Cetus. Now to compliment the perfect setup would be a plugin to export Ique 3600 addresses over to Cachemate. The manually loading of LAT/LONG coordinates is easier using the Ique address than the memo template of Cachemate. The Ique is a bit more user friendly in recording LAT/LONG. I know one can export from cachemate to Ique but going the other way would really save time and prevent recording mistakes. Great product!!
  8. You can configure the Ique3600 to display either heading or compass points
  9. I use a Garmin Ique 3600 and use the Track feature. The orientation plus the distance to the cache is all you need to zero in on a cache. I find it to be extremely accurate and once it locks onto satellites it just does not want to let go. I even use it in the car resting on my console and it very rarely loses reception and if so regains it quickly. I travel quite a bit and rent various make of cars. I am not familiar with the software you are trying to use with it but Garmin's FAQs state that at present there is no capability for the 3600 to have dialogue with a PC. This is unfortunate because entering waypoints manually can be a pain.
  10. Thanks for everyones suggestions. I now consider this matter closed as I found the problem to be the SPAM filtering on YAHOO. I never set this up because I rarely go through another ISP to access my mail. When I did that I looked in my Trash folder and found that the PQs had been going there. The Trash folder did not show that there were any files in it until I opened it up and there they were. I do not see this Trash folder when I log directly onto YAHOO and check my mail. I do not know why YAHOO was trashing GEOcache's mail but I set up a filter to direct GC's mail to my inbox. Ever since I did that I have been receiving my PQs
  11. I have similiar problems on my PC that has two serial ports. I could not get a second different program to run from the second serial port. But if I connect the hardware from the first up to the second serial port then it would run. After doing some research it appears that some OS or programs will not release the port even if you disconnect the hardware from it. What I have found is by removing the Serial port, then rebooting my PC, the serial port will be automatically reinstalled and then what I connect up to it will be recognized.
  12. So far I have tried everything. The PQs are not appearing in my bulk mail folder either. I always specify zip format and I have tried very small PQs. In fact the only two that I ever received at YAHOO were PQs for 20. I contacted YAHOO online chat and the only thing they could come up with was that they were experiencing a latency mail problem, meaning there is a delay in routing incoming mail quickly to client mailboxes. If this was the problem then I would have eventually received the PQs which I did not. I will have to investigate the spam filtering as I have never set this up. Thanks for the suggestions.
  13. I have been having trouble receiving my PQs. I have submitted well jover 25 and have only received 2. I tried putting in my work email address in the ALT slot and have received everyone I have requested with my work address. I have YAHOO (prodigy.net) as my home email ISP and do not receive any. Has anyone else had problems with YAHOO mail? It has nothing to do with the size of my mailbox, I am only using 2% of my 25MB capacity.
  14. I am new also but this is what I have found out so far. GPS units can not use .loc files. If you have a GPS unit that is compatible with the program EasyGPS then you can view the .loc files in EasyGPS and then hotsync them to your GPS. My Garmin Ique3600 is not compatible with EasyGPS so I can not transfer info directly to my GPS. EasyGPS is a freebie from this site. You can download it and then be able to view the cache specifications on your PC. I wanted to be able to have the written descriptions along with the cache specifications so I became a premium member. This way you get a .prc file along with the .loc or .gpx files that you can view with Micropocket reader. This is a small program (again a freebie from this site) that when you hot sync (PDA) you can view the info in text format (ebook) on a PDA. .GPX files are very similiar to .loc files but contain more info with them. This info is used by other software applications. As far as EasyGPS goes you get no additional info whether you open a .loc or .gpx file. GPX files take up more harddrive space. Someone else who is more familiar with everything might be able to add some additional things.
  15. I must have requested about 10 PQs over the past two weeks and received only two back. I have requested no more than one per day and have tried to make sure I had no conflicts. I even used the two successful ones as a template to request another just by changing one item and have been unsuccessful. The most I have ever gotten back are 20 caches (requested 20). Anything over 20 I have not gotten back. Any advice????
