  1. I always had good reception with my Legend even in heavy cover. Some of my logs mention this. I've just ordered a 60cs and can't wait to compare them. I guess I should mention that I worked with GPS while I was in the AF and we used handheld units back in the early 90's when you still had selctive availability and we could get within 10 feet of actual location.
  2. El Diablo what a great thread. Thanks for posting this one. I'll order a hiking stick as soon as I can get to the site. Thanks again.
  3. I believe you have to go through contact@Groundspeak.com to get permission.
  4. Anyone else seeing this? I was kind of surprised to see the old page and it didn't come up with the zipcode link.
  5. What a great thread. It's so nice to see that there are still good people out there. Thanks for this thread.
  6. You should move to NWPA and hide one. LOL
  7. Thanks for all the replies on this topic. After alot of consideration I ordered the 60csand should have it next week. Thanks for all the info on this and I'm going to close this thread.
  8. Where will this cache be? That's a nice first finder prize.
  9. Send it in. Mine did the same thing and they had it back to me in a week. Their customer service is great.
  10. The only thing keeping me sane is my new stereo equipment for my Jeep is going to be delivered tommorow.
  11. The caribiners are popular here. They make good keychains.
  12. Thanks for the replies. I've been watching these for a couple of months and was trying to decide between the 60c and 60cs. I found this one last night and the price was right. The only bad part is waiting for it to get here. LOL.
  13. I just ordered this today. I actually found it on E-Bay. I got it for $429 after shipping. I'm just hoping to hear from other owners. Any quirks I should look for with this? Thanks for any replies in advance.
  14. ok what are you're ideas? please e-mail me. i will give full credit. i've been trying for a couple of months now to stump these guys and everytime i think i've got a good one they find it easily. i do plan on giving any hints that are required to new cachers that look for it.
  15. this is a cool idea. i've picked up a few certificates for finds on virtuals. i imagine something like this would work the same way.
  16. I've tought about that but they already use that idea along with extra small containers , really well comoflauged containers( I almost got one of them but they read my clue and found it right away). I'm about out of ideas, I would like to stump these guys but I'm not sure what else to try.
  17. I've found that not everyone logs their finds online.
  18. I want to make a 5 difficulty micro but no matter how hard i try our local cachers seem to find them easily. i should say our experienced cachers. these are the ones i'm looking to stump. we have one cacher approaching 1000 finds and 2 others with over 600. any ideas?
  19. cujo the only problem i have had with my legend was the click stick quit going to the right. i contacted garmin and they had me send it in for repair. their customer service was great i got my gps back and it was like brand new. they even replaced my display screen(it had some scratches on it) i didn't say anything about the scratches and they fixed it anyway. i hope this helps you out.
  20. i take my lab milo with us. he is just happy to be out with us. of course all i have to say is get in the jeep and he's ready to go.
  21. same line there are several different e-trex models in the line-up. the legend is up near the upper end but their price is coming down.if you're doing just caching and not mapping at all and for your price range i would say to look at the e-trex yellow. it doesn't have all the bells and whistles and it can't connect to the computer to load waypoints but it will let you find caches and it fits your budget. they're selling new for under $100 just about anywhere you go. i saw them in one of the ads in the sunday paper this morning for $99.99.
  22. depends on the model. right now they have new legends selling for around $150. the legend is a really great unit for the money. what all are you looking to do with the gps? just geocache or are you interested in mapping features?
  23. ammo cans are probably the most common but you might be surprised how creative you can get when hiding one of these.
  24. cujo the e-trex line works good for caches. i've found almost 60 caches with my legend. you might want to check the garage sale forumns there always seems to be gps' for sale there. i hope this helps you out.
  25. i get about the same results you did. i used mine monday on a cache that took 6 hours and the battery bar was almost gone when i started. i had it on the whole time and the indicator never moved.
