Ok! here's what i'm gonna go with: Pressed metal is quoting $75 for shipping and Bazzle is stating $85 for customs...add that together =$160 coins with number $1.73 each then calculate the shipping/customs in: brings the cost of the coins to $2.05 Now: if we want to get these hard Air-Tite cases for the coins, Bazzle says it will cost .30 more per coin. (still checking with Bazle on this part) That would make the coins $2.35....the question is... do you want Air-Tite Cases?

Padregirl, Devhead and I were talking about creating a memorial cache for Yrium at the picnic to have someone hide up in escondido. people could bring things that remind them of Yrium or something like that. perhaps we could have a card to be signed at the picnic and have someone mail/bring it to his family.

Got an email from pressed metal today about pricing 500-999 coins for $1.43 each w/out numbers, $1.73 with numbers little confused with shipping prices and customs charges, so i'm working on finding that out... Bazzle from the Oregon thread says that shipping prices were $60 and customs charges were $85. that would make the coins ab about $2.02 price per coin with air-tite cases is about $2.32 Shipping from me to you, if required, will be extra. I will try to set up distribution sites like Bob did throughout the state. If not then i will quote a price to each individual i have to send them to. pressed metal is taking the first 2 weeks of august off so they won't be minting during that time. a good timeline could be have the money and order in by end of september and the coins hopefully middle of october. that's about all i have at the moment

Had the chance to meet Yrium at last year's picnic. Quiet and kindly. Very helpful whenever you needed it. I enjoyed reading his logs. He will definitely be missed in the geocaching community. my condolences to the family.

Hi, I am a geocaching in San Diego, CA and am looking to find someone who can help me in logging the "Where's in a name cache". See the link below for more information on this cache I need someone to make a picture of hers/his GPS device with at least the following coordinates on the device W84°33.455'. It runs through Florida (near Tallahassee), Georgia (near Atlanta), Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio (near Cincinnati), Indiana, Michigan ( near Lansing) Please let me know if you can help me in logging this cache. Both the picture taker and the person looking for the picture can log the cache as found. thanks steve dillon Where's in a Name

Regarding CA Geocoins....I am helping out Bobkat92 to get this thing on the road again. Bob is currently dealing with personal stuff. He will be forwarding all the emails for orders to a new email i set up for this purpose. Pressed metal has raised their prices. the good news is that the die is already made so there is no fees for that. i will be contacting them and Bazzle from the Oregon thread to talk about current prices. Hope to get the prices down....we will have to see what is what. For those that want to order CA Geocoins, send a email of how many to cageocoin@earthlink.net

Here is another cache like it in San Diego. Only problem down here is that someone has been stealing all the travel bugs and locks so it is very rare to find one. they did stay around san diego until this guy started stealing them. Ideal Boat Sink

Allllrrrighty then! the page is up and the time clock is ticking. come down and join us at Crown Point @ Mission Bay. August 14, 2004 at 10am until ? The Summer of 2004 Geocaching Picnic this should be a great chance to meet up with old friends and make new friends
-
Gotta say thanks to SoCal Admin, i think, approved my new cache within 1hr. wasn't expecting it....but thanks!!!
-
up late or early T.T. ? Great Avatar. Completly appropriate

couldn't get it together for this weekend.....however.....Saturday August 14 I believe will be a picnic get together at Crown Point on Mission Bay...Padregirl, Devhead, and I are finishing up planning it right now. should have a cache page submitted by wednesday hopefully!

where is "that" trail? planning on spending a day caching and perhaps creating the first ever, well at least first i've heard, 24hr cache-a-thon. idea is to see how many you could log in 24 hrs....no sleeping!!!

i look at my travel bugs, actually, my daughters look at their travel bugs about once a week. if someone has it, we send them an email reminding them to move it on. if it has disappeared from a cache, i email the last person there or the one who said they took it. usually does the trick. some people don't know what to do with the bugs when they get them.
-
didn't see this on the socal site. where is the information at. might stop by
-
seen one rattlesnake and have done 400 caches. most of them in san diego. it sure was a beauty found this one with the whole family and the dog on a trail near a park in del mar heights.

Yes, he certainly does... been there every step of the way. Bob and i had talked about the creation of a second CA Geocoin that symbolized more of California...famous places, people, events...haven't revisited this topic with him in a while.....perhaps...
-
bobkat92 says keep sending emails to him, he is probably going to begin ordering a second batch. hasn't been on the threads in a while....or caching either...trying to get him off his butt and get busy with caching. ......bobkat92 is pouting because his warning meter is at 10% and he wants it to be reset

Kids are the main focus - create some simple temp caches for them to find with the gps, kinda like an easter egg hunt only high tech. however, all are welcome...there are plenty of caches in the area and its always great to meet new and see old friends. I am willing to beging the process of setting up the event, being the one that opened his big mouth and started this. Padre Girl???? wanna team up? With OTL on that weekend, Crown Point will be packed. i'm pretty sure that is where they stage their coming out party. have to look into that. Kate sessions would be a good alternative.

north of A is South Mission and is usually inhabited by gang-type people and not a pleasant place to be on the weekend. B is a boat launch with a small beach head, there are bathrooms C. nice and central with bathrooms and play equipment. D. access to equpiment, bathrooms, beach front, fire pits, parking areas to place simple temporary geocaches for the kids perhaps its time to replace the cache on the small island across from crown point. need a rock? De Anza cove might have some play equipment, large area with firepits and bathrooms, shallow beach area for kids to play...4 nearby geocaches and possible places to place an event cache. less areas to create temporary caches for the kids. my vote would be D first and C second

This is what we were talking about. trying to get the familys with little cachers together. july 10 or the 17th is okay for my family. Anyone know of a park in poway off the 15? how bout santee lakes? or there is a park with restrooms, playequipment and close to an area for caching next to the high school on mast blvd. Splashette? Fatboy? Ideas?
-
was thinking about mission bay also: crown point area? down by the visitor center? couple of caches down in that area....fiesta island? Fun in the Sun and Sand Event? plenty of places to hide some simple caches for the kids.
-
speaking of gatherings...the 4deez and devhead a while back mentioned getting cachers with families together for an event. the challenge is to find a park area between escondido and spring valley area to meet at. looking for one big enough to create a small cache adventure for the little ones to do, barbeques, picnic tables, bathrooms, and perhaps some play equipment. anyone have some suggestions? June, July, August?

as long as it is not anywhere in the Yosemite park i would guess its okay....however, can't place any physical caches in Yosemite. there are a few virtuals and one physical on private land.
