  1. In the past, I had asked the members of the LIGO site to help me with a cache that required getting help from another person. Since then, I have found that on the LIGO site, they have posted a lot of comments that essentially degrade myself. They have taken it upon themselves to change things on my profile for that site. Since this forum is thought so highly of, and is so widely read by people from every where, I ask, should the Long Island Geocachers (LIGO) be allowed to write what they wish on their public site or should someone from Geocaching.com step in and have them publicly apologize in these forums, and delete any statements made by them that are at all derogatory, or demate my character? I awiat the responses. And can't wait to see what happens in the LIGO forums. Boo of Racer and Boo
  2. Looking at the box in the picture, it would appear that your issue would be with the USPS. Since, after all, the box is from the USPS and it was being shipped by the USPS. I don't believe the USPS would accept a box that was ripped open, hence, the damage happened after KV Coins had put it in their hands. As for a smear campain, mentioned by another cacher, isn't this string exactly that? A smear campaign. Does the coin look good? I think so, others have stated the same, so I guess KV Coins does good work. Did they ship the coins? You said yourself that you were given 2 tracking numbers. One was delivered, the second, now where was that one, oh yeah, with the USPS. As for the matter of the coins you did or did not receive, the people reading these forums have got no clue of any conversations between you the purchaser and KV Coins, the minter. So, really, all those voicing opinions are wrong in doing so. I ordered coins from KV coins. We went through every coin, and every tracking number. Which you should do no matter what condition the box is in. By printing out the labels, if these are trackable, and sticking that label on each coin. You can be assured that each coin is in good condition and present. If you find coins that are missing or not correct, due to color or molding or whatever, you can contact KV Coins and I am sure they would be replaced. We received the replacements for missing coins in about a week. And the one special coin we ordered, they redid it completely and made changes with no additional cost. Just for the record, I plan on using them again. In my opinion, this string needs to be stopped here. And moderators of this forum site should stop any string where a cacher starts saying negative things about companies or other cachers. This is a public site, for these type things, maybe you should create another site, and do your speaking your mind there. This is not the place for these type campains. Boo of Racer and Boo
  3. Long Island is not the only place that did not get representation. There is nothing in the collage that says Central New York. But you don't hear people complaining about that do you? Not all regions could be represented on the coin. So, there is Albany, the State Capital. The Statue of Liberty, an icon of not only NYS but also the country, ( and how far is that from Long Island?) Then there are the Adirondacks and Niagara Falls, hmmm... two of the biggest reasons people travel from other countries to New York. Hmmmm..... why would anyone want to put these things on a coin to represent a state? That's a tough question to answer, isn't it. How about instead of complaining about something this small we spend time dealing with bigger issues. Rising gas prices, the homeless population, pollution, things of this nature which will make a difference.
  4. This is a great thread! I have been enjoying reading other peoples opinions as well! Welcome to AMERICA - where we can have the freedom of expression! (and opinions). I am not asking to change YOUR views - only presenting information - awareness..take it as you will. Cache On!
  5. It is of my personal opinion that the Salvation Army contest is a bad idea. 1. Geocahing is a family orientated hobby/sport. This contest is pushing ONE religious belief on to a free/open sport. 2. Being a religious organization, their stand on gay/lesbian rights is horrible. Check out www.hrc.org and search Salvation Army. 3. Their are MANY organizations that do good, if not better work in the community. Why this one? what qualified them to hold this contest? Until the Salvation Army changes their views on gay/lesbian rights - I am "Kicking The Kettle"!
  6. To date, we have done 263 caches that we found. Several more that we did not find. We have never seen a tick on us after a day of hiking in area's that ticks are in abundance. If you dress properly, as stated prior, and use repellents, also stated, you should be pretty well protected. Don't think about the negatives. Think about hte places you will find and see that have always been there. The people you could meet. And the conversations around a campfire. Cache on Racer and Boo
  7. I agree! There is a known straight cruising park - should I stay away?
  8. We also do alot of traveling. I don't think there is anything wrong with grabbing the bugs. I will leave a note in the log book saying that i will not be able to log until <the day i return home>. I do this for picking up and dropping off. By doing this, especially for the dropping off, the next person to find it will know that I will do it on the day i specified. However, I do think that if it is going to be more than a week or so, maybe you should think twice about grabbing them. As stated by another, bug owners may have a specific goal for their bug. If it will be a while before setting it free or you are moving it farther from its goal, well, owners may not be too happy. Especially if it is within miles of its goal,, and you move it two states or a country away. Racer and Boo Syracuse NY
  9. We came across a pair of kitchen tongs at a cache once in Syracuse. The 35mm can was in a crushed rock wall.. we were very happy - as both of our hands were too big for the cache
