Yeah...I'm still not sure why Groundspeak makes people stop caching during a divorce....... Ok...you get the point.... Here's a question: Would you rather that your lost travel bug is actually: a) Lost in the bottom of a lake or other natural locale? Lost in the bottom of some one's sock drawer? c) On the keyring (or dashboard) of a former (or maybe even current!) geo cacher? d) Part of the inventory of some kid's toybox....as that kid's favorite toy?

What game are they playing? Wow, never seen an actual $ value pop up before.......$6 worth of swag......that's like 12 caches worth?!?
-
Remember, just because the computer says it's physically in a cache.....doesn't mean it's actually in the cache!!
-
If it is located in the PHoenix metro area. Went to Colorado on vacation......wow.....snow really does put a damper on things. Guess I never really thought of it until then...... To some people, available in winter means it would NOT be covered with large amounts of snow. I mean, if covered in snow mean it's still available in the winter, what would that icon really be used for.......caches in lakes?

Well, if you indeed found it a certain way.....then placed it back that way, and that way was exposed....what would be incorrect about the above statement. Could you be taking this a TAD personally? What assumptions are you making?
-
That actually sounds fun.........for me. So, make sure you filter those out........

I dunno...for some reason I just want to keep screaming... GEOCACHING!!@!!!!!!!@!@!@#@!@!!@@#!@$%^$@#^$#!&*%#$&^%@^@* Not very stealthy, huh?

I have a great idea: Take a TB.....now, tether it to the cache. So normally, it's only discoverable, right? Fun yet? Except, I'll delete all discoveries, of course. Ok, now, if it's the 3rd Sunday of a leap year, you can take the TB off and place it around your neck. Now, you can retrieve it, but you can't place it quite yet. You must wear the TB for 5 months before dropping it off in another cache that has a volume of at least 5 liters and located at least 112 miles from the nearest road in a state that starts with "I". If you get within 5 miles of a cache (even if you don't find it), you MUST discover it from that cache...but only if the name of the cache starts with a Z or X....or a Y on the Sabbath. Now, once you have the tracking number tattooed to your chest....... So that's my Travel Bug idea. I also have an idea for a TB Hotel. Ok, so, I place this wooden box above a wood chipper.......

Some people are way to quick to grab...or complain. Look at these logs from a TB my wife moved....Pay close attention to the dates. The logs have been arranged in chronological order.......... Dude....the bug was picked up the DAY BEFORE....it was sitting in the hotel NOT EVEN A DAY. He found it HOURS after we placed it. Don't they read the previous logs and use some logic looking at the date the bug was picked up? Good thing he didn't want that TB....he would have grabbed it..... And BTW, we stopped in Colorado Spring on our way back to AZ.....couldn't log it til we were home.....

How can you have a FTF on plundered cache......and how does a cache get plundered before a FTF? Probably questions for another time......

changing difficulty level of a cache?
PhxChem replied to Woletrap's topic in General geocaching topics
Please tell me I don't look like that while caching......... -
If I hear the "life got in the way" one more time.......... Step 1. Walk around corner Step 2. Drop in cache Step 3. Get on with life Step 4. Spend spare time doing something you love instead of justifying why you can't drop a piece of metal in a plastic box.

I would say those dozen or so cans are not part of the cache....they are trash. Take them. Just don't steal the cache...

I always figured part of the game was figuring out where to park. In my opinion, things lose their fun of they have to be spelled out for you every step of the way. Some caches do give additional waypoints such as parking and trailheads. In many cases, this is because parking in the wrong spot could get you towed etc. On most of the kid friendly caches I have found (the ones I do with my family), it was pretty obvious where the parking was.

You might want to get into the habit of recording the tracking number when you find a bug. Although luckily, you had a very responsive owner. C'mon....don't be so lazy.......
-
Hey, if you find something, and you don't know what it is.....you could always call the bomb squad!!
-
It's a reflector. I know hunters use them to navigate in the dark. They are usually found in the hunting section of a department store. I believe some cache owner use them too for night caching.
-
That just gives me the creeps....but in a good way!
-
No one here said it was. Of course you would. That's pretty obvious. But what exactly does that have to with geocaching? Oh, I get it....they're equivalent.....righhhhhht... What locations do you know ARE designed or intended for geocaching?

Brain Freeze - Help! What are they called...

Uh....no. People freaked out because something looked like a bomb. Now junction boxes look like bombs? Where will the scare tactics end? You seem a bit naive. You can get one of those EASILY published (you know they don't actually go out and look for your cache, right?) The number of these type of caches out there would suggest otherwise. So I can't get killed by the 110 volts in my house? And what about the "they are not fool proof" argument. Or the "what if the electrician made a mistake" arguments. I can't trust those GFCIs...or those circuit breakers...they're not fool proof. What if an electrician made a mistake? So, junction boxes are safe.....but, of course, you never know (cue dangerous sounding music....)... I guess if I hear it one more time, it might change my mind.....after I go place a micro on a junction box next to a no trespassing sign...... -
What's the point of an activation code? So people don't randomly type in numbers to activate something still on the shelves?
-
Wouldn't you HAVE to leave a note to drop it?
-
What about those in public parks?

One might think you were trying to point out your disdain for micros...... I have to sleep outside my house now because I've noticed the amount of electrical equipment in there (with warnings and everything)!! Did anyone notice that the wires from the boxes go....to peoples' houses? Why are they pumping the danger into my house?? The "danger Will Robinson" argument is pretty weak. Unless, of course, you are going to contact a lawyer and sue those who place those DANGEROUS boxes next to sidewalks our kids walk on. You can touch them from the sidewalk!!! Exactly.... But the permission argument is valid....but seriously...if it were enforced.......a graph of total caches online would look like a scree plot.
