Same phome I have been using since July. It just quit working. I tried going to Textmarks but found nothing over there to re link the phone.

Google Cachemate, download and install it. (You will eventually have to pay for it, about $10 US.) Sign up for a premium membership and download a pocket query of your area. Using the software Cachemate can provide to convert the gpx file to Cachemate's, do so and load it into your Axim. Tether your Axim and GPSr puck, go into Cachemate, find the closest cache and use the navigation screen to find your way. I know this is a little simplistic but with some practice and reading the Cachemate help files and forums it will quickly be that easy. Once you are properly hooked you will then go out and spend all kinds of money buying other GPSrs, hiking/camping equipment, kayaks, rappelling gear, scuba equipment and lessons, etc.

My daughter's account is working correctly. Both of us on the same Sprint family plan, both have BB Curves.

Why can we not get any help on this? I have researched it and found one or two others having this issue with no follow up from anyone.

Release a proxy There is a cacher in our area who does that, the proxies don't move much.

If you went to check on the logbook and peoples names were not in it that were online you could delete those. If they were in the log book you couldn't. If one person wants to repel and sign everyone's name nothing you can do to prevent that. Is a reviewer denying the listing based on the probability that you might delete someones valid logs? If so that doesn't sound right.

After 1K we do an event and give the cacher a golden ammo can.

I have activated mine but it sits in my personal collection. I will not release it to the wild.

This unit does talk to your computer and you do not have to go to a dealer to update maps. The best way to load the cache info is with GSAK using the macro that I'll link to at the end of the post. It will load the coords, description, logs, and hints. While loading you can choose a distance from the cache you want it to pop up and warn you. I turned it on, took it for a drive and came home and reloaded it without that feature. It was very annoying and you can only enable/disable it while loading the POIs. So if you are loading for a specific cache run it would be helpful, if you are loading it for everyday use and just want the caches available for impromptu cache grabs then don't turn it on. http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=...amp;#entry52922

I have this same issue. Also, when I try to post a DNF it sends me a reply telling me to try GEOC @GC....... and the DNF log is not sent to my field notes. I have been using Textmarks for about a year with no problems and this started about a month ago.

Publish it. You won't get many hunters, but those who enjoy challenges will go for it. If it was in Mid Tenn I'd go for it. Just rate it correctly, since special equipment is needed then it is a T5.

Don't know for a fact but my guess would be that unnatural pile of sticks and leaves covering the cache up.

If I am understanding correctly you are trying to develop a Puzzle cache of your own. While I am not completely following your idea I have a couple of suggestions. First, if you are trying to recreate one you saw in another area why don't you try emailing that cache owner and asking for help? The second suggestion would be to use something with a determined location such as the intersection of Main St and 2nd Ave in Whatever town, or the north corner of a specific building. If you did that it might keep the errors down when others use Google or Mapquest maps to figure it out.

Try posting your question on some local forums. Someone there might know the answer. Here is one to start with. http://www.floridacaching.com/

So I would add from the last cache to the first as Via Points. Is there a limit on Via Points? We have about 125 mapped out.
-
If you posted a link to the cache in question we might be able to help.

My understanding is the Send to GPS button on the cache page only works with Garmins or Delormes. With the Magellans you have to download the GPX file and drop it into their software to convert. It also depends on what type of Magellan you have. If you have the Explorist 300 it does not connect to the computer. If it is the Triton 300 you have to use the VantagePoint software.

In a couple of weeks we are going on a numbers run. My mother purchased a Nuvi 255. I've learned how to load the POIs with GSAK. But is there a way to plan out a route so it automatically takes us to the next one? Or will I have to pick it every time?

Write a story or you're being disrespectful?

With respect - you've not met my mother, the English major. She loves writing (typing too) and does so very well. She is not only computer illiterate (she's had a computer for 3 years now and only just learned what "google" is about) but she's also afraid of hitting the wrong button on her keyboard which would cause her computer to implode. She has gone caching with me and though I set up an account for her, she has yet to log on-line once. If she did, she'd very likely only say something like, "TFTC". And then there is another friend of mine who unfortunately has early on-set arthritis. Typing (among other things) can be very painful for her. She'd probably love nothing more than to write a long log note. In fact, I'd wager she'd do just about anything to get rid of her arthritis so she could write more, as that was something she used to love to do. She'd feel terrible if she knew that others were ticked off at her short cache note. She'd probably just stop logging on-line all together if she was aware of that. So, generally speaking, I don't think judging people until you've walked a mile in their shoes is very wise. But I guess that's just me. Very well put. You never know who is on the other end and what their story is. There is an LPC near my house in a McDonalds parking lot. I met the owner at the cache, she's 4. She wanted to hide one and picked out the spot. If I did not know that and complained about another LPC how would that little girl feel? My kids have an account and while my 8 and 10 year old don't post much how would they feel if someone criticized them for what they did post? Maybe they are newbies and think TFTC is what is expected? If you berate them you might run them off. Why spoil others fun because they don't play the way you want them to? That is like the kid on the playground throwing a fit to get his way. Maybe befriend the newbies in your area and offer guidance. I usually email every new cacher that logs my caches and welcome them. I let them know they can email me with questions any time. I have never had anyone be upset or offended. I have helped many and several have hidden some very nice caches, which increases my enjoyment of the game. If you get to know them maybe you can influence them to become more fluent in their logs. Or maybe you'll find out the story behind why they log as they do. -
So what is the difference between them being stored as Geocaches and POIs?

whenever a hider decides to use an ammocan instead of a cracked gladware, flask is happy. whenever a cache description gets proofread before posting, flask is happy. whenever someone learns how to use an apostrophe, flask is happy. whenever someone writes a log for each cache they find, flask is happy. whenever finders put the cache back properly, flask is happy. whenever a puzzle is clearly defined, flask is happy. whenever a cache is properly rated for difficulty and terrain, flask is happy. whenever a cache is full of interesting items, flask is happy. whenever a cache is placed with care, flask is happy. go ahead, make me happy. i dare you. If someone would give me a flask, I'd be happy! Not I... if you don't do things her way she'll publicly label your habits disrespectful and rude... and call you a whore. All while demanding a minimum level of courtesy! And Moose Mob was quite correct... myself and others I know quit logging online long ago in large part because of this kind of attitude. ah, no. flask does not wander around the landscape correcting other people's behaviors. if you open or take part in a public discussion about whether or not certain behaviors are rude, flask will join that discussion and call them what they are. if you are a number whore or a firstfind whore (as flask is) you know the shoe fits. as to not logging online, if your logs consisted of TFTC, flask will have to say it's no great loss. I think the levity in my post was overlooked. Flask=a container to hold libations. So a few sips and I'd be happy. I was trying to lighten things up. Why do people have to get so bent out of shape by the way others play the game? Do I prefer to get a well done log on my hides? Sure. Do I expect it every time? No. Will I get bent out of shape if someone puts TFTC? No, that is what they chose to write. Let's stop being so worried about other people, be thankful for what we do get, and enjoy our hobby a lot more. -
Yes. To the OP if you already have one or can get one real cheap, go for it, it will work fine for geocaching. Just cross your fingers that you never need to call Magellan for support. I've asked Garmin owners and was told the only way to load more than 500, 1000, or 2000 (I think that is the limit on oregons) was to have multiple SD cards pre-loaded with the max amount you unit will handle and swap them out. How can you get around this limitation?

I have an Explorist 500. It has a rechargeable battery and the LE has an adapter for AAA batteries. I love mine. I have over 12000 geocaches stored in it. Can your Garmin do that? However it is a discontinued model. I have been advising people not to spend over $100 on one. If you are on a budget and can't do much more than $100 currently WalMart online has the Delorme PN-20 with Topo maps for $99. If you have a bit more Amazon has the PN-40 for $229.00. Both have paperless abilities. The PN-20 has been said to have a slow refresh rate on the screen. Both have had issues with shorter than average battery life. However both come with Topo maps (PN-20 with v7 and PN-40 with v8) and both you can subscribe to Delorme's map service for $30 a year unlimited maps and satellite imagery. REI is reported to have the Garmin Oregon 300 for $250. This unit will also do paperless caching as well as Wherigo caches. However it does not come with maps. They will run you about $80-$100 each. Whatever you choose take the time to learn to get the most out of your unit. And realize despite what many will say about their favorite every unit has good points and bad points. It just depends on what is most important to you.

The other problem you have is you are using a car GPSr. They usually do not do very well for Geocaching. You would find a handheld GPSr would work much better in these circumstances. If you are on a budget Wal-Mart has the Delorme PN-20 for $99. I have seen reports of two issues with this unit. It has been reported that the screen redraws slowly and battery life is shorter than other GPSrs. But you will not find a GPSr that does paperless caching, comes with maps, and is a color screen for that price. If you have more money you can get a better unit. The PN-40 is on Amazon for about $229. And I've read that the Garmin Oregon is onsale at REI for $249.
