  1. Thanks for the help. I('ve been reading up on it today. Now I just need to get my unit.
  2. I am waiting on my new PN-30 to arrive. Once it does I'll make sure the firmware is at the latest. What is the best way to get all of the cache info on there?
  3. Buy a large pot and do the same hide but have the PVC sleeve in the pot that you put the dirt around. No digging to setup but same effect.
  4. I have a BB Curve with both Blackstar Navagator and Cacheberry. I also have a Magellan Explorist 500. I have found the BB to be fairly accurate until I get into heavy woods. I also found the software on the BB to "hang", it won't update then jump like I've walked past. I use my dedicated GPSr most of the time. As JPW1 referred to the handheld will take the drops that will happen out in the field better than the BB will. Now as to the 60CSx. This unit has been the gold standard of GPSrs in the caching community for awhile now. Many people swear by them. I don't own one, but my understanding is that it has an electronic compass. What this means is that when standing still it should still point in the right direction. Many GPSrs like the BB or my Explorist do not have electronic compasses. What that means is that they need to see movement to determine north from south, this is why you had to keep moving to follow the arrow. The other ways the 60CSx is better than the BB is that it will stay locked on to the satalites in the woods or canyons, etc. Also, if you wish to, you can purchase topo (or other types) maps to pu on the GPSr. Another thing to look at is that the newer GPSrs have "paperless" features that the 60CSx does not have. What this means is that you can load all of the info from the cache page onto them, like Blackstar and Cacheberry on the BB. On the Garmin line look at the Dakota or the Oregon. On the Delorme line look at the PN-30, PN-40, or the upcoming PN-60.
  5. For a while it quit working for me. Now the GEOC @GC##### works. The GEOC xGC#### returns a message telling me that code is not recognized try GEOC @GC#####.
  6. The cache in the john was the best hidden. That wouldn't be considered a commercial cache would it?
  7. Head over to the forums at www.gsak.net. They'll get you fixed up in no time.
  8. Definitely caching! I mean, why else would anybody got to all of those different places unless it was for a bunch of caches?
  9. The voices tell me to. And you don't want to anger the voices!........What? Yes, Mother, I'll be there in a minute! Don't worry, I'll sign you're name, also.
  10. The reviewers can allow Traditional Caches near virtuals. I have a Mystery cache published with the starting coords less than 528 feet from a Virtual. It has several waypoints even closer. I emailed the owner of the Virtual and got his blessing and passed that onto the reviewer. In my case the Mystery Cache was a continuation of a series of caches in Middle and East Tenn highlighting the history of the courthouses in our state. It would not have worked anywhere else but where it is placed. So the OP may have a similar reason for needing to place one close to an existing Virtual.
  11. This was my first thought when I watched it. I would love to find out what he really said before editing. Somebody call and ask him.
  12. Just curious, How do you know he took the cache?
  13. Do you have Magellan's Mapsend Lite installed? If not you will need to do so. After installing open it up. Since you are not a premium member, your only option is to download the .loc files. You can do this off each cache page or when you do a search there is a link at the bottom of the page to download a .loc file of the caches. Drop the .loc file into Mapsend Lite, continue to do so with each file until they are all loaded. Click on GPS Contents, Geocaching, Save to File. Choose PC Hard Drive, name the file, and choose where to put it on your computer. Hook your GPSr up to your computer with the USB cable (when hooked up correctly to the GPSr the cord will go down the back). Turn it on and it will pop up like a USB drive. Open up the Geocache folder and drop the .gs file you created with Mapsend Lite. This is easier if you are a premium member and run Pocket Queries. Keep in mind that each .gs file can only hold 200 geocaches. When I use Mapsend Lite I limit my PQs to 185 instead of the 500 they can do, this leaves room for parking coords. If you move up to GSAK you can do the full 500 and do multiple PQs, then GSAK can filter and create the right sized .gs files.
  14. When you are logged in click on your name at the top right corner. About halfway down on the right is a section called Premium Features, in it is Set Up Notifications.
  15. Do you own GSAK? If you do there is a Macro that will turn your database into Custom POIs. These can be loaded onto the Nuvi (with hints, description, and 5 logs) then back at home removed without deleting all of you husbands favorites.
  16. Snoogans does have a heart! I held it in my own hands and saw it with my own eyes. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...36-db59059d3b20
  17. Took microwave oven, toothpaste, and loaf of bread. Left $143.52. TFTC
  18. I got a virus from this site over two years ago and have not been able to find a cure! Could be because I haven't looked for one.
  19. Black Bears geocache in your area?! Since they walk on all fours how do they carry their GPSrs? And do you have problems with them signing the cache log but not signing the online log? Do they tell a nice story or is it just TFTC?
  20. Did anybody think to count the hanging chads?
  21. I log Virtuals and send emails the same time. Never had an issue and I can't remember anytime I've had an owner email me back that my answers were correct. There was one time I was questioned when I was using a software that logged the find online in the field. The owner sent me an email asking if I was going to answer and I did, all was well.
  22. There is a cache in my area that is a Bison tube (about 1-2 inches long and about 1/2 inch in diameter) pushed into the ground in a field. The hide put paint on the tip that reflects UV. You have to crawl on your hands and knees moving the grass with a black-light to find. That is evil! You will find many different hides that you'll walk away from cursing how evil the hider is!
  23. Well then don't hunt for any evil Nanos or you might just start smoking again!
  24. Since you are running Firefox are you running and Greasemonkey scripts? Try disabling these since the recent site upgrade broke some of them. Some have been fixed but if you have some that aren't it could be the problem.
