  1. 2GB microSD will work. 4GB or larger seems to work? But only upto 2GB worth of capacity. So just play safe and buy yourself a 2GB microSD.
  2. Hello all. I have a question about FIND menu in 60CSx. When you goto FIND menu there are WAYPOINTS & GEOCACHE sub menus. My question is... I personally don't like how everything is listed under WAYPOINTS sub menu. I was wondering if it is possible to have geocaches to be only listed under GEOCACHE sub menu? and not in WAYPOINS sub menu.
  3. What new update software for 60csx ? ALL I WANT IS SIRFINSTATFIXII!
  4. Hello. So to my knowlodge when you cold start a GPS unit it does take few minutes to get some signal and lock in, right ? This is what happened today. I had my 60CSx mounted in my car and drove to a nearby gas station. After pumping some gas in , I turned on my GPS and guess what happened? I had signal and it locked in within like... 20 seconds. (remember, this was first time turning it on today) So even if it's not turned on but left out in the opening... it helps lock on to signal much faster ? It can't be working like that, right? Since GPS isn't being powered. Don't know what happened but that must be how SiRFInstantFixII must feel???
  5. Any news yet as to when ? dadgum it Garmin!!!
  6. Personally,,, I don't think size of the card matters more than about of map tiles it's gotta load.
  7. I use a 2 gb San Disk memory card in my 60Cx and don't notice any lag or slowdown. Have you used smaller card to compare ?
  8. Oh boy... When will this chip become available to the GPS manufacturers? I guess whatever that is released after Colorado will utilize this chip? Maybe they'll upgrade Colorado with this chip to make it a what Colorado should have been ? Oh god GARMIN... release the damned SiRFInstantFixII now please !!!
  9. Are these 6 gb cards SDHC or SD? The 60/76 series uses micro-sd cards. I wasn't aware there were any micro-sd cards on the market yet that are over 2gb, except in the SDHC format. I thought the 60/76 series could not read the SDHC format cards. The 60CSx will read HC cards. That is my personal experience. I did say that I was not sure if it would read memory beyond the 2GB limit, and some posters have stated that they will not. I've never tried loading maps beyond 2GB, so I cannot speak from personal experience on that. I am now curious, and intend on trying it myself. Looking forward to the result. I tried it last night, but was only able to load about 2.14 GB onto the card before reaching the segment limit. The card worked, but with so little over 2GB, there is no easy way to tell if I tried to access any data in the upper 2GB. I was using City Navigator and Topo, and Topo has very small map segments. Someone with a second map, that uses larger segments, might be able to do it, but not me. At this point, I'd have to say that while a 4GB HC card will work, you must assume that you will only be able to use 2GB of the card. I'm using it because it's what I have, not because I need more storage space. Awesome. I am glad to hear that 4GB SDHC type of card is atleast recognized. and work upto 2GB. Sure being able to use upto 4GB would be good but I am just happy that SDHC card works. I would rather buy 4GB SDHC than a regular 2GB... just in case. Besides... I could always use it for something else if I had to in future.... heck... you might just get a miracle firmware update. Thanks for test it out!
  10. Any car USB adapter will do. As those mini USB are 5volts.

  12. try using one those hdd back up software that creates disk image of your hdd/partition. I can't remember the name of a free one. (it's good too) Anyways,,, mount your sdmemory card, use the software to make a disk image and try to restore to a different memory card to see if it works. This may not work because SDcard version of Garmin maps are somehow locked in with a "Unique Serial Number" of that specific memory card. If you have StreetPilot or Nuvi, you can view this 'unique serial number' from it's hidden/debug/service menu. But like i said, not sure how this will help as the unlock code & map is tied to that specific sdcard. Besides,,, seems you have a Version3? which seems to be old.... so why not just buy yourself a new NT 2008 DVD version. I am sure it's worth it. btw... what is that UNL?
  13. Hello. First of all, I am sorry to ask this damned same question again. Not sure if this was asked aswell but... I know 60CSx can NOT work with 4GB microSD (SDHC) card... BUT... Does it not even recognize the card? or does it recognize but only be able to utilize 2GB of it? (SDHC)?
  14. I believe I question wasn't asking how many/little maps I wanted to load to a memory card... or asking if other users want to carry multiple cards or not either. ? ? ?
  15. Hello again. I seem to have a lot of questions today. Anyhow... For those of you that owns or knows... I have a old (not sure how old) MetroGuide Canada v4 and City Navigator North America NT 2008. Both are installed to my MapSource on my computer. When I am looking at the province of Ontario, Canada it seems that MetroGuide Canada has a lot more details? compare to CNNT NT 2008? Is this just it SEEMS or does it actually have lot more detailed maps? Obvious difference would be MetroGuide Canada not having some of the newer roads and such. Also few color difference on parks, airports and lakes alike. ???(by the way, I am only talking about the details of Canada from both maps)???
  16. What are your intentions ? World domination? I don't know... I just would like to know how others does it. I am sure there are others who have done it/is doing it. I work for a airline and my cost to fly to anywhere we fly is like a bus fair to me. (not that i fly much, but should do more of)
  17. Now I have a brand new question to add to this... Regardless if GPSr is using 1 map set or maximum of 2025 map sets... will 60CSx perform slower? Slower in as in screen redraw when I am manually moving around the map? Or when it is doing whatever calculation(s) it needs to do? One thing I really dislike about this handheld is its redraw rate on the screen. Than again even the Garmin nuvi 200 I bought my brother isn't as fast as some other brand I have tried. Other brand I have tried was Mio Digiwalker C220, C310 and that thing draws the map so smoothly that it looked so smooth............ (thanks to it's 400MHz CPU)
  18. Hello. For those of you with Garmin 60 series GPS (60CSx for me). If you do carry multiple microSD card(s) with you, how do you carry it with you ? Would it be possible to somehow put one more microSD card somewhere in the battery compartment? Anyone done some slight modifications to allow to carry one or more in there somehow? I really rather somehow carry extra in the GPSr itself. Would appreciate some pictures of yours. Thanks.
  19. strumble: Still 90 minutes is too long too, don't you think ?
  20. Hello. Since loading map to my 60CSx is very slow due to USB 1.1... I use my memory card reader/writer. It does upload the file very fast but as usual Building map set takes forever. I decided to see how long it really does take to build map sets. I am loading a total of 5794 maps (1849.8MB) worth. Now MapSource is building the map set... time shown ? 6 hours 8 minutes !!! Something wrong here or is this normal ? How about you? Any tips and tricks ? Thanks.
  21. Keeps us 60 series owners updated! when SiRFInstantFixII update becomes available to us too. Thanks.
  22. I use RAM-MOUNT aswell. I also use the power adapter but if I were to buy it again... I would have instead buy a USB power adapter. which is more universal and simpler.
