  1. If anyone is interested, I am selling my SporTrak Map with holder for car on EBAY. Item number 5702787323. Check it out if you are looking for a deal on one. It has been repaired by Thales for the cracks and is in great working order. There is nothing wrong with it. I have upgraded to the Meridian Gold that is why I am selling.
  2. Yea the letters dont form an acronym as far as I know. I first started hearing the word on the radio. Stations holding a live remote with stuff to give away would say they were going to be giving out some swag there.
  3. Yes my SporTrak does the same thing. I dont think it is anything to worry about.
  4. I just checked the conversion to american and it is 218 american for the basic sportrak, not a good price. You can get them for 150 in stores down here and even cheaper online. I have the gold and it is a great unit. I got it on line at ebay brand new for 177 american. Great deal, but they go for 199 at wal marts here. They have expandable memory using secure digtal cards. I use a 64 mb card in mine. I have read of people using 512mb in them. They also have16 mbs of built in maps. I also own a sportrak map and I would suggest staying away from them. While it is a great unit they have problems with the casing cracking. Magellan has been good about fixing the problems but they never fixed the flaws that cause the problems. I have sent mine back twice to be repaired and the same problem with the cracks reaapear. The Gold is a mapping unit also. Good luck.
  5. Wow!!! Take a break dude. Take a break.
  6. I dont have a sportrak color, but I do have a Meri Plat as well as a Gold and a Merri green. The plat is great. The expandable memory comes in handy when driving. You can download maps of the cities you are going to. The three axis compass is great also. But to be honest, the Gold is all I really need. I like the larger screen on the meridians over the screen size on the sportrak. I own the sportrak map also. My pick would be the Plat but look into the Gold. Many people have said they dont think the Plat has that much more over the Gold and have a hard time justifying the extra cost for it. Good luck
  7. Uhhhhhhh, the movie quote list. Lighten up Francis and you just made my list are from Stripes. It was just a joke, Lighten up Francis!!!
  8. I personally think they are fine. Even if what you traded for is more in value than one dollar, you can still stop and 7-11 and get something for it. Last I checked 7-11 doesnt accept plastic army men or McToys. I think you can get Susan B. Anthonys at the post office in the coin operated stamp machines. To get them recycled a few years ago they started putting them in the machines so you would get your change in Susan B's.
  9. It just kills me that when someone posts something about a problem with their gps, someone else will post something like you should have bought a real gps thinking they have the greatest brand. I have four Magellans and they all work great. No problems with my magellans. For every person who has a problem with their gps, and this includes Garmin, there are thousands of satisfied customers.
  10. Yea, what Stunod said. It proves you truly are not a dikcabeza.
  11. I just checked my email, and I havent received anything yet. You can also try kej1876@yahoo.com

Oh boy!!!! Now I guess we will see a Palm vs. Ipaq pissing match!
  13. Another thing to think about is did you recently send your unit in for repair? I sent my sportrak in for repair of the cracks in the casing. When it came back it was not accurate. Something was wrong. It wouldnt lock into 3d mode and kept switching back and forth from 2d to 3d.
  14. I live in Reno Nevada, "the biggest little city in the world". Now he has me wondering. Is Reno the biggest little city, or just a small big city? At any rate, its time I started a campaign to have the city remove that title. While I am at it, I will ask that Gilroy California, "the garlic captial of the world" do the same until it is actually designated by some entity that it is. Why is Pennsylvania the keystone state? They just made my list. British Columbia, Canada has "Beautiful British Columbia" on their license plates. Who said it was beautiful? They now just made the list. Sears is "Americas number one tool store". Who said. Man that bugs me. I think they should take that title off everything they print. If not I will call them as well.
  15. I wonder when someone will auction off one of my cache cards I leave in the caches?
  16. I know of a cacher here in my area who just posted a note in our yahoo group about what the heat did to her gps. She has a garmin legend or vista I believe. The heat melted the glue that hold the rubber thing around the edges of the unit. I dont know what its called because I use magellans. That rubber thing had no glue after this and it just hung off the unit. I dont think it affected the performance, because she said she was able to move the rubber thing around until it lined up right and it was useable.
  17. Do exactly what stunod said to do. To program in the coordinates on the sportrak you press and hold the goto button. It is the button with the little walking man. A screen comes up where you can manuver the cursor to the different areas of the screen. Move the cursor to the coordinates and press enter. You will then be able to manually put in the coordinates for the Latitude then hit enter. Now your cursor will be on the Longitude. Enter in the coordinates and hit enter. Move the cursor down to save and hit enter. Now you have the cache nearest yours in your gps. Now go to where you want to hide yours and hit the goto(walking man) and you will get a screen with user waypoint, cities, highways, airports, waterways and parks on it. Highlight and hit enter on user waypoint. Then you should see the waypoint you entered for the nearest cache. Highlight that and hit enter. You will then be taken back to the screen you were on when you hit the goto. Manuver through the screens and look for a field that says distance. That is the distance in a straight line to the nearest cache from you. I know this is kinda long, but once you do it you will do it more often. Then it just comes naturally. Good luck.
  18. I dont know how you use Gsak, I use cachemate and easygps with my palm zire. I get the gpx files and use the cmconvert function. You go through the convert process and then hot sync and you are done. From what you have written, I think you have to convert somewhere.
  19. I live in Nevada. I believe about 80 percent of the land is govt. owned. That makes for good geocaching when you have a lot of public land available.
  20. I appreciate the help. I also understand what you guys are telling me about it being stuck. It is my first and only tb, so I guess I am like a new father being a bit overprotective.
  21. Hi, I own the CEO Jack travel bug. Jack is stuck in "all christian" cache which is a little south of Altamont, Oregon. I would appreciate it if someone could get him and set him on his way. Thanks.
  22. Analgram? That sounds painful.
