  1. What is the PC software of your choice? I have pretty much only used Easy GPS. Are there other free programs that work better or have better features. I know geocaching.com has a resource page for software. I don't want to download everyone i can find. What do you find is the best free one?
  2. yeah quigley i tried that (saying TFTH). its ok. one thing though, i didn't post how i found it at all. and the methods that were mentioned... i don't think i'd be able to do. anyways, moving on...
  3. you're right i should. that doesn't mean the cacher owner won't delete my log again. but i'm not going to pay the three bucks, at least i'm not planning on it. i'd rather keep trying it the other way. but honestly the whole log deletion thing kinda turns me off from geocaching a bit.
  4. just wanted to check in well i tried to log a find again today, in case the log was deleted by mistake? but its obvious it was no mistake. cuz it was deleted again. because i'm not a PM. i went for the PMOC because i figured out away to find PMOCs and one is about a 5 minute walk from my house. the closest cache to me. I also wanted to test this method of finding them. It made it a different kind of challenge. I had to do a little more prep work. Annd i was curious to see if there were any other people that did this as a challenge. cuz I would think with so many geocachers, its possible. but i think in my log post i mentioned that i was a basic member one too many times. but anyways, the whole point of this was to find out if there are any basic members that find PMOCs for the extra challenge. cuz i definately don't do it for racking up numbers, many people can find more than i have total in one day.
  5. i found a PMOC, and logged my find. My log was deleted by the cache owner. I can only assume that its because I'm a basic member. Because he/she has responded to my message, i'm can't be sure. Do you think this was what should of been done? I realize its gonna be up to the cache owner. what's your opinion? Thanks.
  6. I found my first PMOC. I just about have the system down for finding these. do any other basic members do this?
  7. I'll do my best. and actually I'm almost positive I will find them.
  8. i think i might be able to find MOCs in my area, without being a premium member. I'll see soon. I have some coordinates, that i just figured out. I don't plan of making a habit of it. its just the 2 closests caches to my house are MOCs. and I'm just curious if other people are able to do this. I just think of it as more of a challenge. and it helps that i know the area. let me know if you are able to do this (find MOCs without being a premium member or going with someone who is, or being given information by someone who is) . you don't have to explain how, just wondering.
  9. I've been away from geocaching for a couple years and I have forgot some stuff...and i think a number of things have changed as far as different types of caches. whats the type of cache where say you take a picture of a yellow jeep and log it as a find. but it could be anything not just the jeep thing, like a large fake hamburger and logging it as a find. what are those cache types called? is that type of thing still done? I don't think it would be virtuals. but now I remember something about virtuals being phased out? is that correct? if its true it wouldn't really bother me. thanks
  10. From my view it makes sense to archive that. Airports are hub, with thousands of people there, soooo why wouldn't they take no chances.
  11. when people refer to the off topic forum. ... Where is that? thanks.
  12. hey could someone point me to a web page that explains Seti, i don't know what it is.
  13. I think it sounds cool. Its very movie-like. only thing is, I myself rather have an omelette. But its definately something to try, maybe starting out with a pretty simple scenario.
  14. What software (shareware or not) would I want to download or buy so that I could track my movement say in a car with a laptop and my handheld GPS serially connected to the laptop. I would wanna see my location as well as others I have stored in my GPS as well as possibly place names from a basemap. At some point I'd like to be able to have a laptop and GPS in my car that would be useful on long drives and so I could see a large view of the screen and not have to look at a small handheld screen.
  15. oh I'll take care the sm*rfing smurf problem around here!!
  16. ok I fixed it, I had to download the pic from the site, and make sure it was a jpg. Thanks guys.
  17. its a pic from another web site, I will try your advice jenn
  18. when I changed my account settings to use an avatar I got this error message: Persits.Jpeg.1 error '8004002a' Empty input file /login/user.asp, line 496 does anyone know what I need to change?
  19. If there is a cache that turned into a premium member's cache only recently, but I still have the coords is there anyway I can log the find on the site (besides paying). I didn't go looking for the geocache yet.
  20. actually it was 1,438...... [personal attack removed by moderator]

  22. This is from a recent thread posted by Jeremy i assume Irish: There are currently 1,438 active caches in the world. We're at ID # 1636 at the moment. If this is true I find this hard to believe. I was under the impression that there were many more. not including any non GC.com caches.
